Yup. Very much. Just like Megs and Soundwave.

And imho more like a kid's toy than a collector's figure. Unless you happen to collect really big things, I suppose.

Am I the only one who thinks that Devastator being bigger than the other combiners is s cool revamp to his character and makes him seem even more awesome?

You are definitely not the only one, my friend. Devastator is LARGE and IN CHARGE!

The way I'm having my Combiners displayed is to have Superion vs Menasor and Defensor vs Bruticus. Then on a seperate shelf I'm going to have Devestator embroiled in an epic battle against my Third Party Dinobots.

Me third or fourth this. Given how the real life construction vehicle reference images posted here in the thread, not surprised as all. Did you guys see how a "Scrapper" type vehicle can fit 20+ people in its shovel doohickey? A fighter plane's cockpit can just fit a maximum of 2 in it's cockpit.
Though really, people so uppity about Dev's size but no one complains about how Megs and Soundwave can "mass shift" in the cartoon?
Its fiction guys. A bit of suspended belief is a given when we got into the Transformer mythos.
Now activating "jerk" mode.........hows about anyone complain about the hollow arms of the limbbots in Superion? Or have I been living under a rock and just missed the complaints?
"Jerk mode" off

Add me to the list that isn't bothered by Devy's size in relation to the other combiners.
I also agree with your point that scale just can't be that big of a deal for people...
A figure being good in and of itself should completely trump how tall or short it is next to other figures.
I still can't believe that not more people are complaining about the Autobot car figures in this line. Wheeljack imo is by far the best, and actually does compete with the previous version.
I'm glad people are complaining... Just surprised, because those figures are completing underwhelming for me, and I don't feel like I have crazy unrealistic standards.

That's a good point imo. Those types of details are what make the previous releases of these G1 characters so good.
IF I needed/wanted a G1 Smokescreen in my collection, I wouldn't want him to only be a leg of a combiner...
Yet, as an individual, he's not G1 enough for me in form, color distribution, or details such as the door "wings" and shoulder canons.
I totally get why Hasbro made these new incarnations... It makes sense.
And if it helps the line as a whole, that's cool with me.

Yeah. I do like the new figures. I like some of the re-imagining. But, like you say, some of the details that define those characters would be sorely missing. I don't think any of these will replace my Classics versions. But I will still enjoy fiddling with the CW versions when I get them.

CW Wheeljack is not alone in the "no back wings" department:
To name a few.

Oh, indeed, and that Downshift figure was my Classics Wheeljack, and an awesome figure, until Classics/Generations Wheeljack came out.

Pretty high I think, since they are releasing every other full combiner team announced by hasbro so far. Even that Optimus combiner. We still dont know if they will use the white or red torso though.
Oh and having played with Hotspot/Defensor, I am very happy I didn't get the Takara version. The deco and inclusion of groove is obviously a plus, but they aren't repairing that mold, or adding stature and articulation to the combiner. With Defensor being my least favourite, I am glad I at least got him for cheap. With canadian taxes hunting my UW 01 Superion down, I probably ended up paying more than most for it, but that mold is so great that I don't mind.

I can see them releasing sky lynx, just not maybe in the unite warriors line

I think he means that they aren't officially combiners by the Japanese perspective. As I don't believe the IDW comics have been translated over there, hence, Takara has no perspective on the fiction, hence, they wouldn't release a character that combines when in the original cartoon, he didn't.

Yet again:
Smokescreen from Prowl (even keeping the lightbar)
Wheeljack from Breakdown (total reshell)
Hound from Swindle (who's a reshell of Rook)
Trailbreaker from Offroad
I can see TakaraTomy giving Cyclonus the Grand Scourge treatment, turning him into an obscure double homage (just no Galvatron II please) and making him an exclusive.

Actually, they are getting the IDW comics in Japan. They're just a little behind us right now. Last I heard, they were in the midst of "All Hail Megatron".

But Skylynx is getting a team assigned to him in toy form, just as Optimus is, so that is why they would do it. Cyclonus has no assigned team in the Hasbro toyline so I don't think they would release him, unless it's similar to how they released Scourge.

I know I'm nobody to you guys, never really post, just lurk. That being said, I've ordered quite a bit from anime-export and I've never had a problem. I usually go with HLJ just because it means I don't have to pay for it right away, but whenever I go through anime-export, there's never a problem.
Thanks for the heads-up.
What have you purchased from them recently??
I just received Legends Megatron. All well. Ordered MP BB in the winter, all was well with that too.

Nice to finally have a full Combiner Wars/Unite Warrior style combiner, when until now I've only had a limbless torso (Optimus Prime).
He's a pretty good set of toys! I look forward to writing a review of them.
Edit:
And here's one more photo, Superion in a group shot with modern versions of other '86 (and beyond) toys:

I like 'em! (Which is good, since the order I just got in also included a black set eventually destined for Defensor!) As far as blending... I assume you mean colour-wise? I think they look fine.
william-james88 wrote:I got him too and I am glad I waited. Congrats on your patience!
Congrats on your patience, too! I will admit it was a bit tough any time I saw an Aerialbot in the store... but getting the whole team in one shot, with all the members I wanted, and also with (at least in my opinion, which is the most important one for my own purchases) superior decos... and all for not that much more (about $30) then the Hasbro version? Seems like a no brainer to me.
The cost difference for Defensor is going to be a little harder to swallow... But (a) I really want that Groove, and (b) even after you also figure in the cost of the PE hands & feet, he'll still be less than what I had previously been used to paying for third party gestalts. So in the end, it'll still be worth it.

Are you using AB and Powerglide as stand-alones? Cause they are great toys by themselves, but I love Powerglide as a gun, it works so well!

I'll use them with the UW Superion as additional members, with Powerglide as a weapon for Superion and Alpha Bravo as a backup member in case any of the main four limbs gets injured and needs to be swapped out.D-Maximus_Prime wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Yes. I ended up buying 2 Motormasters because of that. First one had that problem thought it was just mine because reviews I saw didn't have that issue(my Optimus doesn't have the issue) and my second Motormaster has the the same problem. It's not a huge gripe for me because his legs and stance are a bigger issue. All in all I like menasor a lot, he's "solid" for the most part.
