And thanks to IDW's Transformer's Editor Denton Tipton and his blog From the Tip, we can inform you that next week the 17th of December 2008 will see the release of another new Transformers series, this time relating to the upcoming Transformers Movie...

Two teams; Cliffjumper and Sideswipe on one and Rodimus and Blurr on the other, find mystery, adventure and peril in the depths of the Shattered Cybertron during their pursuit of the wayward Grimlock. But what awaits them in the labyrinth is far more dangerous than any Dinobot... and it does not wish to be found."

Thanks to RyallTime, the blog of IDW Publishing's Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall, who has updated the Transformers Comics to be released this coming Thursday the 4th of December 2008. A day later than usual.

This week sees the beginning of a new series, and the release on a reprinted trade:

- Maximum Dinobots #1
- More than Meets the Eye TPB #2

Maximum Dinobots is penned by long time Transformers Scribe Simon Furman, and follows the events that occurred throughout the Devastation, Revelation and Spotlight Grimlock Comics. Nick Roche (Spotlight Kup) is on internal art duties.
More than Meets the Eye #2 collects the second half of the Generation 1 Character Profiles that was first published by DW.

The releases for next week, the 10th of December remain sketchy at best, as IDW's Transformers Editor Denton Tipton's blog From the Tip has the 10th of December releases the same as this weeks releases.
However, it might be that he has mixed up the two weeks releases, meaning that next week we may see:
- Transformers Animated: The Arrival #5 and
- Best of UK: Time Wars #5
released instead.

Stay tuned to Seibertron.com for more information when it comes to hand.

IDW Publishing's Editor in Chief Chris Ryall has issued an apology over the various errors and problems encountered in he recent release of "Spotlight: Grimlock" over on the IDW Forums.

You can read the full apology below:

"my job, everything I've worked toward in my life, the thing I care about most, is words. So while it doesn't help you since its your money buying these comics, at least you should know that these errors hurt me to a degree far worse than they do you. That doesn't make it right, it just means I'm with you. We all are. None of us work the hours we work with the express purpose of delivering inferior product. So first, I'm sorry these happened. I always am. GRIMLOCK is a book that many people, including Simon, have patiently waited for, and to finally put it out with careless errors is unfortunate, to say the least.

How do these things happen? Many reasons, not least of which is the sheer demands required to produce comics every month. That's not an excuse, just explanation that with so many things happening on deadline at once, human error is going to be a factor at times. So if a project like this doesn't have someone's full concentration, things can slip by. The balloon placement slipped by at all levels, from editorial to licensor. It happens. You can have 20 people see a book and an error can slip by, or one person can handle a project and it can come out fine.

Denton wasn't even with the company when this issue was approved to print. He's blameless (this time!). And editorial flux isn't a good excuse, but it is a good reason.

This particular book was running incredibly late, and in order to get it done and out, multiple colorists pitched in, leading to variances in style. But I'm not pointing fingers at an editor or a colorist or anything else, I'm just saying we try our best and sometimes our best needs tuning up. I think we're at a good place now, and Denton is a great asset. So is Mowry. So while it's foolish to say this won't happen again--printing errors happen at all levels, up to and including menus, bibles, and probably this post--it's not foolish to say we're doing what we can to fix any past problems.

By the way, don't think I have any problem with anyone pointing these things out. You pays your money to buy our comic, you earns yourself the right to whatever opinion you have, as long as it's expressed politely here. These things, regrettable as they are, serve as flashpoints to remind everyone not to slack off and to try that much harder.

I'm sick of saying "we'll fix it in the trade," but we do our best to fix errors when we find them. We have no idea if anyone will care about the Beast Wars Sourcebook TPB, but man, did the editor on that, Justin, and the production person spend a lot of time--as did Ben Yee--doing their best to make it right this time around.

Let me just reiterate again that I hate letting you guys down. We certainly try our best not to do that and to prove worthy of your hard-earned cash.

IDW Publishing's Transformers Scribe Simon Furman has updated his blog with information that he first released at the Botcon 08 IDW panel...

The next series that he will be working on will be called "Maximum Dinobots". Furman has expanded on what this series will entail, be warned as the following few paragraghs contain spoilers, not only for the series but also for Spotlight: Grimlock:

my next IDW/Transformers series after the Revelation quartet of Spotlights will be… Maximum Dinobots! Spotlight Grimlock sets the scene and Max Dinos is the payoff, the long awaited, fully fledged modern day debut of the Dinobots (last seen in any functional form in Spotlight Shockwave).
But it’s far from a happy reunion, and out to spoil the party further is Scorponok and his Machination/Headmaster army. But that’s not all. For the Grimlock and the Dinobots there’s worse to come. Much worse. If it’s all-out battle action you’re after, look no further!
