The better Hasbro does, the more likely we are to see a Transformers movie and even more excellent products like the Alternators and Masterpiece Optimus Prime. It has been revealed that Masterpiece Convoy has a mouth hidden behind its faceplate. The mouth more closely resembles the G2 Comics battle-scarred Prime, than the speaker hidden beneath the G1 Optimus´ facemask (from G1 issue 76). Since the picture that shows this could be classified as a prototype, I can´t show it here, sorry...

Transformers.com has updated their website with pictures of 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime, as well as launching an all-new weekly updates section. Here are what the Q&A for this week entailed:
Q: Will 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime´s smoke stacks be shorter than the Japanese Takara "Masterpiece" Prime?
A: It is our goal for the U.S. Optimus Prime´s smoke stacks to be identical to those on the Japanese version.
Q: Will Alternators in the US will be part metal like the Binaltech versions by Takara?
A: We feel very strongly about making this Transformers Alternators line very affordable. Consequently, the cars released in the U.S. will not have metal parts.
Q: Is it true that the U. S. 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime will have "battle damage" deco while the Takara version will not?
A: Yes, the U. S. 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime will have "battle damage" deco.

At OTFCC, Hasbro reps assured fans that their 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime figure would remain faithful to the animation model. However, it now seems that there´s an above average chance that the figure will indeed be coming up short, if you catch my drift. Hopefully, I´ll have definate confirmation on this in the next day or so. Keep ´em glued to the Rumor Page for any updates on this (and many other) rumor!

Transfandom reports that reliable overseas sources have given tentative release dates for the Japanese versions of Alternator Smokescreen and 20th Anniversary Masterpiece Convoy. Smokescreen will be in stores on September 26th at ¥ 4,980 (around $40 in America). Keep in mind this is the die cast Japanese version. The American version will be $20, but there is no word on its release date. Convoy will come out December 11th for ¥ 8,980, which is about the same as his $75 American price tag, indicating that we should be getting the same exact quality figure when he comes out here.

I just got an email from
TitanToys concerning the pre- order for
Masterpiece Optimus Prime and
Alternators Smokescreen. Prime will be $93 and Smokescreen will be $65. Each comes with a free first printing Transformers comic book.

We´ve recieved some unconfirmed reports that the upcoming Masterpiece Optimus Prime will retail for $75 US and will NOT include a trailer. Look for this story to be confirmed (or denied) in the exceptionally near future.
