RUMOUR! Combiner Wars (Titan Wars?) Predacons and Terrorcons, along with Brawn and Barricade might be on the way! Take it with a grain of salt, but Hasbro has applied for some rather interesting trademarks, none other than Predacon and Terrorcon, while the terms have been used recently in Transformers: Prime, they were name reuses, legacy characters at most, as they used to be two Decepticon COMBINER teams, which would make a lot of sense given the current Gestalt craze.

Also solicited were Barricade and Brawn, which could mean a predictable redeco/retool of the Swerve Legends mould for the Minibot, while Barricade is a bit more vague, could it be an update of the old Micromaster, in time for the (also still rumoured) Titan Wars? Or could it be something else entirely? Finally, a couple of days ago we also saw Backtrack and Autobot Wheelie join the groupings. Tell us in the forums, what do you think will come out of these Trademarks?

We've received a number of notifications from Seibertron.com members about an upcoming collaboration between Nintendo and Hasbro for a Transformers-themed Splatfest - part of the Splatoon game for Wii U consoles. Find out more in the official press release copied below, and choose your side if you take part in the event!

Nintendo and Hasbro Join Forces to Let TRANSFORMERS Fans Take Sides in Splatoon

Are you team Autobot or team Decepticon? Nintendo and Hasbro are joining forces to help you defend your robot allegiances in the Splatoon game for the Wii U console.

Splatoon features themed events called Splatfests that let players pick a preference, such as Autobots or Decepticons, and then compete against the opposing side in online battles. A Splatfest celebration lasts for 24 hours, during which players head into battle and try to rack up Turf War wins for their side. While the Splatfest is ongoing, in-game characters get to wear a special T-shirt that shows which Transformers team has their allegiance. The ink that each team shoots will also be customized to match the color scheme of the chosen side.

Once a Splatfest ends, the side with the most points will be awarded the most Super Sea Snails, items that will allow them to upgrade their gear in the game. The Transformers-themed Splatfest event is scheduled to run starting at 9 p.m. PT on Aug. 28 through 9 p.m. PT on Aug. 29 and is open to all Wii U owners who have Splatoon and an Internet connection.

Splatoon, which is exclusive to Wii U, represents Nintendo’s take on the action-shooter genre. Characters called Inklings can transform into squids as they attempt to cover the play area with their team’s colorful ink and splat opponents. Using an array of inventive weapons, players cover the playing surface with as much of their team’s colorful ink as possible before time runs out. On Aug. 5, a free software update in Splatoon brought a large amount of new content to the game, including two new matchmaking modes, new weapon types, an increase to the game’s level cap and more than 40 pieces of new gear.

For more information about Splatoon, visit http://splatoon.nintendo.com or on Tumblr at http://splatoonus.tumblr.com/.

You want weird news on a Sunday? We have you covered. The official Transformers Facebook page has posted a plug for an officially licensed product, featuring some Optimus Prime art on a pair of ..crocs. Yes. Crocs.

The only connection we could come up with, to be entirely honest with you, is a strangely convoluted reference to Alligatorcon from the G1 episode 'City of Steel', made up of spare Optimus Prime parts. But probably not. If so inclined, you can find out more here!
