This must have been fun for a Taiwanese fan. Both voyager class Rhinox and Optimus Prime were found for sale in Taiwan and the pictures of this sighting were uploaded to Facebook. These are NOT part of the studio Series line but rather part of the mainline which we've been seeing a lot of lately. Some of the previous toys we saw pulled from previous toys, do you think it's the same for Rhinox? And how about Optimus, does this look like a fully new mold to you? While Hasbro revealed several Rise of the Beasts toys lately, we are still missing a big chunk including the previously leaked deluxe class figures and these voyager class figures, which should be released at retail all at the same time.
Distribution is wild. Turns out Metalhawk shipments landed in North America a little while ago and the smaller stores have been quicker to get them to their clients. While BBTS is in the process of fulfilling orders, some Canadians (like me) were able to get him live. The one pictured below (by me) was bought at the store Geekstuff in Laval, Qc, where he is still in stock at $50 CAD ($37 USD). While a review is coming, here are some in hand images first. We see a comparison to Cyclonus, his mold mate, and the Titans Return Metalhawk. Plus lots of other images showcasing his effects part compatibility and scale with other figures.
We thank fellow Seibertronian Sabrblade for letting us know that Walgreens.com has Minerva in stock now. This should help American fans who either don't have a Walgreens near them or don't want the hassle of looking everywhere all the time for one. It is $24.99, here is the link: https://www.walgreens.com/store/c/hasbr ... 35-product
We have two new sightings for Canadian Transformers fans. The Toysrus exclusive Buzzworthy Bumblebee Studio Series 44 leader class Dark of the Moon Optimus Prime (is that the longest name a Transformers release ever had?) has been spotted at multiple Toysrus stores across the country. The SKU is 652660 if you want to call ahead of time to check if it's there and not waste a trip.
We also have news that Generations Selects Magnificus has been found at Gamestops, also widespread amongst various provinces.
January is almost over and it seems the new toys from the first wave of Transformers Legacy Evolution have all appeared at US retail, and all at Target. While we reported on the voyagers being found a little while ago, the deluxes have recently been found as have the core class figures. There are no new figures in first wave of leaders (just repacks), with leader Prime Skyquake being released in the second wave. The image below comes from Rob who posted about a sighting in SoCal on the Transformers Toys Facebook group.
In Canada, the first wave of deluxes has been slowly making its way to Gamestop stores and the core class figures were found at Walmart and Gamestop. There are no signs of the voyagers in Canada yet.
Walmart really needs to figure out its toy distribution. They get exclusives and hold onto them for so long instead of stocking them that they then unload the stock of previous years to a market six retailer (liquidator). Case in point, these crazy findings at Ross that tf fan Marco posted over at the Botposting Facebook group.
The highlighted prices were $8.99 USD for the Walmart exclusive retro Headmasters and $16.99 USD for the Walmart exclusive Sparkless Seeker. Looks like Studio Series Perceptor was found as well. If you have a Ross near you, could be a good time to check it out. Also, looking at this situation, it wouldn't be a surprise if we see Cosmos at Ross for a similar price to these deluxes two years from now.
Good news for fans who still prefer to buy toys at brick and mortar rather than online. The two voyagers class figures from Legacy Evolution wave 1 were found at Target. The image below was taken by tf fan Bryanwes who found Tarn and Leo Prime at his local Target in Fair Lakes, Virginia, and posted it on the TFW site.
Each case has 2 Leo Primes and 1 Tarn. Those who ordered them from Amazon.com should be getting them soon as well.
The first wave of the Transformers Legacy Evolution line is being released rather haphazardly. It's already readily available in some continents and when it comes to the US, Americans are getting them from Amazon, plus the dates from Hasbro Pulse have moved up. However, brick and mortar retail is still lagging. The deluxe class toys have been found in Canada though with Gamestop stocking their stores after fulfilling pre-orders. All deluxes have been found though they may be scattered across different stores, since they don't get full cases for each store. They were found in Gamestops in Ontario and Quebec, like this sighting from Banshee over at Cybertron.ca. If you are interested in seeing some reviews, we have them for all the wave 1 deluxes.
Needlenose
chuckdawg1999 wrote:The Double Targetmasters hit me deep in the nostalgia feels, they were some of my favorite later G1 figures and I dug the gimmick. Needlenose is much better than I think anyone thought it would be. Articulation is spot on, even includes swiveling wrists. Articulation is so good you can even pull off some good sniper poses. Transformation is smooth and intuitive resulting in a great jet mode. This should be the first purchase from the wave.
Hot Shot
chuckdawg1999 wrote:Armada Hot Shot is the figure we should've gotten with the Universe release some years ago. It remains faithful to the classic design while updating the articulation and giving the overall look a modern spin. I am disappointed that Jolt, Hot Shot's Minicon, wasn't included as I feel that's part of the overall package. While maybe not the first deluxe from the wave that you should purchase, it should be close to the top.
The G1 Starscream reissue in cartoon deco was found at a Walmart in California. Other fans have reported finding it in other Walmart stores, where it is an exclusive, while some fans also reported asking the staff about this item and being told it would only be available online. The photo below comes to us from Emmanuel who posted it in the Facebook group Transformers Botposting.
The next phase of the Transformers Legacy line is taking shape in North America. The core class is slowly being released through Amazon in the US and in Canada, this first wave has been found at Walmart in Ottawa (by CanPrime). It contains Sludge, Slug and Soundblaster. We have reviews from our community below for these toys.
chuckdawg1999 wrote:Finishing up the Wave 01 Core Class figures from Legacy Evolution we have Soundblaster and Sludge. Soundblaster looks great but is a bit looser in some areas than Soundwave and really doesn't offer anything new. Sludge is much better in hand than stock photos have made it look, but you still have to get used to how the figure works below the waist. Once you understand all that Sludge has to do, forming the torso and upper legs of Volcanicus, you start to appreciate the figure more. Overall, both figures are fine but I would pick up Sludge first just to have the next piece of the Volcanicus puzzle.
chuckdawg1999 wrote:This is an interesting way to start the Evolution of Legacy. Slug, more commonly known as Slag to long-time fans, is a really fun figure. Transformation is simple but has a few fun steps that leave you satisfied. While this can never replace the SS86 leader, Slug makes for a fun desk toy.
