The first wave of the Transformers Legacy Evolution line is being released rather haphazardly. It's already readily available in some continents and when it comes to the US, Americans are getting them from Amazon, plus the dates from Hasbro Pulse have moved up. However, brick and mortar retail is still lagging. The deluxe class toys have been found in Canada though with Gamestop stocking their stores after fulfilling pre-orders. All deluxes have been found though they may be scattered across different stores, since they don't get full cases for each store. They were found in Gamestops in Ontario and Quebec, like this sighting from Banshee over at Cybertron.ca. If you are interested in seeing some reviews, we have them for all the wave 1 deluxes.

Needlenose

chuckdawg1999 wrote:The Double Targetmasters hit me deep in the nostalgia feels, they were some of my favorite later G1 figures and I dug the gimmick. Needlenose is much better than I think anyone thought it would be. Articulation is spot on, even includes swiveling wrists. Articulation is so good you can even pull off some good sniper poses. Transformation is smooth and intuitive resulting in a great jet mode. This should be the first purchase from the wave.

Hot Shot

chuckdawg1999 wrote:Armada Hot Shot is the figure we should've gotten with the Universe release some years ago. It remains faithful to the classic design while updating the articulation and giving the overall look a modern spin. I am disappointed that Jolt, Hot Shot's Minicon, wasn't included as I feel that's part of the overall package. While maybe not the first deluxe from the wave that you should purchase, it should be close to the top.

In the interview Toys R Russ had a few days ago with members of the design team they mentioned a TF Fan Tuesday (or Friday?) event will be coming "soon". I imagine there will be more RotB Reveals as well as Legacy Evolution Wave 2 (Or Legacy Wave 5 if you prefer).

As far as we know, it will probably have 2 more Core Class Dinobots, & Thundercracker
Deluxe: Junkion #2, Crosscut, & Animated Prowl
Leader: Skyquake

What else? (aside from rereleases?)

^ Cool, for some reason I thought Bombshell was the next Insecticon, coming in a later wave.

I just ordered Hot Shot, had a gift card and decided to use it, plus I needed free shipping for a new phone case.

I am waiting to see if amazon drops the core prices to grab those 3, they have done it fairly consistently.

I'll get the rest soon enough, wave 1 of 2023 should be plentiful at some point.

They're going to trickle out the rest of the Dinobots now?

This is exactly why the only two Evolution figures I've pre-ordered/ordered day before Amazon started shipping, are the Dinobots. Would it be neat to grab Hot Shot or Lio Convoy now? Yeah, but based on the amount of Kickbacks, Drag Strips, and Bulkheads I can see running to Target, I have plenty of time. But a combiner, especially Dinobot combiner, I feel like isn't gonna last long around me, so I might as well pick them up as I see them, instead of trying to find one of them on the aftermarket. Made that mistake with SS AOE Grimlock, and almost made that mistake with both SS86 Grimlock and Slug.

Well, that and I've stopped pre-ordering TFs in general when they're months out and suddenly they've been moved forward to tomorrow. Seriously, I get that the supply chain's messed up, but it's be nice if they would stick with the original ship date, or give you a Pile of Loot system like BBTS has

I'm trying to give up preorders unless it is something that will for sure be hard to get otherwise.

Do I want them? Yes. do I really want to rush right now? Not really? I'd also like to space them out, I feel like some bots last year did not get the love they deserved because I got a bunch all at once.

Plus, they aren't in stores near here yet. So I know that I will have time. I want those Dinobots too, but I think there will be plenty to find, at least of this wave. I will get more impatient once we get to 5 and 6.

I pre ordered what I wanted from wave 4, not because I'm in a rush, but because B&M has become so unreliable there are no guarantees. I feel fortunate to have found Motormaster. So many people who want him and we're hoping to see it in stores have lost out.

The only wave 4 item I'm taking a chance on is Lio Convoy. I hope to see it at retail, but if not, so be it.

I think all of the Commander Class figures have had restocks? I don't know if it's guaranteed that it'll happen, but I don't think all of those are already out in the world.

Personally, if I want it and there's a preorder, that's what I do. If I'm on the fence and don't need it, I'll wait for a sale to decide. Pandemic shipping and retail availability were a nightmare and I'm not going back even if things never get that bad again.

Legacy Evolution is still the same line as regular Legacy, right? If so, I dread seeing Wave 1 and nothing else for months to come...

Jetfire and Skylynx I think have been reissued 2 times because of their immense popularity (probably far fewer were made than Hasbro/TT anticipated interest in), however I think they anticipated the same with Kingdom Rodimus and in an attempt to course correct produced far more. Despite me never seeing it at B&M, Rodimus was on sale for up to 60% off online at some points during the holiday season. I just checked, and at the time of this writing, Rodimus is Normal CC price on Amazon some 18 months after his initial release, but even jut a couple of days ago, I saw him on sale for 15% off.

With Motor Master who can say, if enough people complain about having incomplete Menasor's they might do a reissue.

Unfortunately there is no clear answer on that. If L:E SKU's the same as L, then yes, it's likely retailers wont carry it. But that was the whole reason Hasbro switched to packaging refresh every year starting with PotP. I mean we could argue that "Prime Wars" and "WFC" were 3 year lines (Well Prime Wars was technically 4 but...), with new packaging each year so that retailers would keep ordering.

Legacy Evolution does have new packaging art, but if it SKU's the same as Legacy, then Hasbro kind of undid what they attempted to fix back in 2018.

Did the fix work? If we compare it to Studio Series, for instance, which doesn't have a line refresh, did we see more yearly refreshes of Generations toys or Studio Series toys? The first wave of the various generations lines have been well stocked but beyond that, I don't know (then again, that alone might make it better stocked than SS).

Also, on a different topic, I am rather impressed at how well Motromaster sold. he is sold out practically everywhere in Canada and the US at the moment. I don't know if there is more to come.

He seems to have done well here too. I never seen a physical copy of him in stores but did however see the barcode/price sticker ON shelves where he should be, so it was likely just ships in the night. Which is a bummer bc I'd been banking on picking him up on sale similar to how I got Sky Lynk and Rowdy Roddy Prime

Yeah same here, I've been able to get all commanders on sale. As of right now, I have missed out on motormaster, but we'll see. The quantities still seem really low, I think not all stock has been alloted yet, especially when the limbs outside of Dragstrip arent even common at retail yet.

I'm not taking any chances with the Stunticons so I preordered and paid everything at full price. Now if only that sonovabitch Breakdown would REALLY come out already...

I don't blame you (or anyone)... After seeing Dragstrip go on sale on Amazon multiple times, my plan was to wait until Dead End and Breakdown went on similar sales.
And I'm glad I never canceled my preorders for Breakdown with Amazon, because it seems like IF those ever go on sale, you'd have to have extremely lucky timing for that to work out.

I snagged one Dead End from my Target, and it had have been a random return. There's been no sign of any wave 3 deluxes anywhere in my area.
So now it will be interesting to see if the next Stunticon I see in a store is Dead End or Breakdown.

I don't recall ever seeing a Commander in stores since 2019, got both Roddy and Motormaster online.

I never saw the Dragstrip sales or I might have gotten him then, originally I was going to just pass on him as I didn't care mush for the character of the looks of the bot. Then it occurred to me I probably should get it for completion sakes. I also planned to get them all on sale but now that seems very unlikely.

Now that I’m thinking about it, I haven’t ever seen a Commander Class figure in-store.

Amazon had Dragstrip for either $20.99 or $19.99 a couple times.
Kickback was $17.99 for a while…
But I would say waiting for any of the last 3 to go on a sale now is a risky roll of the dice.
It will probably happen, but you’ll need a lot of luck to actually get any of them before they’re gone.
I’m getting my second Dead End from TFSource.

I've seen them all in store, except Jetfire. I got all mine online, except Sky-Lynx, who I got at Target 9where I've seen them). I've never seen ANY of them at Walmart.

Walmart would not have carried Skylinx or RP in store, since they clearanced out Jetfire quickly because they didn't want to carry CC for some reason.

I got my Jetfire from Walmart during it's initial release. Skylinx from Target. Rodimus from Amazon ( due to stores in my area not carrying it). And Motormaster from Target, which I'm coming to appreciate more and more how rare this sighting was ( and it was actually my daughter that found it, not me). So despite me having all CC so far,I only ever saw the first 2 at B&M, although thelast 3 have been confirmed at different Targets

I like that idea, until that’s a wave that can’t be found because of distribution issues…
Maybe two in wave 1, Motormaster in wave 2, and the last two in wave 3… I would’ve been really happy with that.
Now, I do think all 3 Insecticons should’ve been released within 9 months in 3 consecutive waves.

It would be pretty unlikely unless it was part of an exclusive subline. Hasbro have made it clear they like some diversity amongst alt modes (hence why the early waves of combiner wars wasn't team specific).

Not to mention, the Cons getting entire waves to themselves is a rarity, that's a luxury that's typically only given to the good guys. In fact, the last time there was an all-Con Deluxe wave was also in Combiner Wars when the Combaticons hit the scene, and 90% of the time it happens in any other size class it only happens because that wave contains at least some of the 3 most bankable Cons in the franchise (the Legacy rereleases of both Core and Voyager Soundwave, for example).

At any rate, it seems kind of odd already having about half of L:E wave 1, and they really haven't shown up at retail in the U.S. at all yet. (save for the once exception I posted yesterday). Also it wasn't from Robot Kingdom or another international seller, just plain old Amazon.com.

Pre-Orders are certainly nothing new, and I understand they dont mean getting the item first. There were plenty of other times in the past I cancelled online pre-orders when I found something in-store first. But moving forward it seems the way to go since finding things at B&M is becoming less likely. Not necessarily because of distribution issues, but because the big 2 in the U.S. (Target and Walmart) just aren't carrying them in the quantities they were previously.

I find wave 3 of Legacy absolutely mind boggling, there's only one Autobot across all classes, the rest are either Decepticons or Predacons. The entire line ratio is pretty off when it comes to retail figure, 10 Autobots and 22 Decepticons and Predacons. Pretty crazy.

Definitely not online returns, this was one of my local Walmarts, they had a ton of them. December 19, 2021.

My nearest Walmart never carried any Commander class toys.

My walmarts never got the commanders either. And Target to my knowledge and sightings only ever got Sky Lynx.

I really hope none of you missed this king. He is so good

I never, ever saw any Commanders at Walmart too. Just online, my local geek store, and at Toys R Us.

Right now, you can still find Rodimus Prime in TrU's brick and mortar stores on clearance at 84$CAN. Strangely, I never saw Motormaster in a TrU store.

At one Target, I did see empty shelf spots reserved for Motormaster, but they were always empty with no Motormasters on the shelf. And now those spots are gone, too.

Motormaster sold like crazy in Canada. Looks like people were ok with that $140 price.

Good news for fans who still prefer to buy toys at brick and mortar rather than online. The two voyagers class figures from Legacy Evolution wave 1 were found at Target. The image below was taken by tf fan Bryanwes who found Tarn and Leo Prime at his local Target in Fair Lakes, Virginia, and posted it on the TFW site.

Each case has 2 Leo Primes and 1 Tarn. Those who ordered them from Amazon.com should be getting them soon as well.

Ironically, that's also the price my local geek store sell Motormaster for. He also have a few Rodimus Primes for 120$. That's the price I paid at Amazon. Looks like it's sold out at Amazon.

Still plenty of Leader SS RotF Scavengers to go around though, online and off. But this time around, ironically at full price. Why so many tho?

Exact same thing at my Target.

Like most figures there are issues with the individual Stunticons, and even with Menasor as well.
And yet, overall, both the figures and combined form are really pretty well done.

Not sure how Hastak can match this with other future combiners when the torso bots don’t have the support (literally) of a trailer type of component.
I’m sure eventually it will get sorted out.
But either way, this Menasor is pretty special.
Especially for those of us that appreciate how G1 accurate this version is.

Fortunately I preordered Motormaster shortly after listing so he wasn't that difficult to get, I had a $20 gift card at Amazon so he only ended up costing me $60! Preordered Wildrider the same time but paid full price for him.

Wow. The people who buy Leo Prime, expecting the figure to look as fearsome and impressive as the box art, are in for one WHALE of a disappointment...

Isn't that the rule for 99% of the transformers ever released?

Maybe, but not to this extreme…
Most artwork stays pretty close to the actual figure designs, maybe hiding hollowness/gaps…
But that Leo artwork is a fully organic-looking lion, appearing like something from a movie or tv show…
And in comparison, that figure is nowhere even close.
