First Look at Rise of the Beasts Voyager Class Rhinox and Optimus Prime

Hard to tell if those Rhinox and Optimus are 100% new molds with 100% new or shared engineering, or repaints with slight remolding.

OP looks exactly how I was hoping he'd look, I can't wait to buy one when it actually comes out.

Honestly, I think both of these are new molds.

But HOLY FUCK, look at those legs on Rhinox, it looks like on hell of a complex series of folding panels onto one another.

Both appear to be new molds. Optimus doesn't appear to share any parts with the Studio Series figure and features a more simplified transformation. Same with Rhinox, it isn't based on the Generations or Kingdom figure in any way.

They both look pretty good, but I'll pass on Optimus until we know what the Target exclusive SS version is. It's kinda funny that somehow that panel on the front of Rhinox's leg isn't clipped in despite being CG. Looks like the horns can be removed and used as a weapon, not sure if it's a necessary step since the rhino head is just stuck on the back of the bot like any other (non-TM) Rhinox figure. Bonus weapon, maybe? His transformation is deceptively simple despite all the leg panels. The bot legs form the bulk of the rhino body, the sides of the rhino are his shins. The bot head is exposed under the rhino's neck. The rear legs are just sorta sitting on the back of the bot legs, the perspective of the photo hides them. It's probably a fun figure to mess around with if you like the aesthetic.

That Rhinox is wonderful, buylt I'm one of those few who like the Kingdom figure. Still, there are so many of the RoB molds I would buy if they recolored them as Transmetals.

For me, this shows that I'm gonna go to Studio Series for both these characters. I don't get why almost all of the toys of the Beasts aren't making them look like they do in the movie and that Prime shows how much better he looks in this then in Bumblebee, but Part of the appeal of getting a toy of him from this film for me is having a more G1 looking Prime with the 07 weapons, which hopefully the Studio Series version has the sword and cannon that he's using in the trailer.

definately new molds. prolly gonna have to get that rhinox. I want to see better images of his guns though. they do look like they spin with those clip in style pegs that hasbro loves to use on wheels now. if the back half of them are beefy, I may have to get 2 of these to properly arm up my kingdom rhinox.

That Optimus is a sure skip for me, unless there's a sale. Because that's just one more G1 style Optimus to add to the pile.
But that Rhinox look fresh and bad-ass so I'll keep an eye open for him.

So far I’ve been more inclined to pick up the ROTB line’s Maximals than the SS ones, and Rhinox here just helped that inclination.

That's my problem with most of these figures. They are voyager-sized figures, but the transformation seems to form no puzzle whatsoever. I always think it is a shame when they waste an opportunity beast-formers grant to make transformation into an interesting puzzle. The RotB Cheetor voyager is such a shame and just defaults to "stand up and walk" transformation.

In terms of colour palette, why are the Maximals so dull? Both Cheetor and Rhinox are both so muted, especially in direct comparison to Prime there. The Bot Modes need to be vibrant to offset/compliment the Beast Mode skin. It makes the distinct green on Rhinox' chain guns (of doom) really jarring, when next to the figure.

Because this is the live-action film series and if you're not a slick street vehicle with a snazzy new paint job, your colors are always dull and muted.

I like kingdom Rhinox as well, though I'll consider this one once I see better images and a review. And I'm assuming at some point there'll be a studio series version of this guy

I'll be getting airazor from this line and passing her off as a transmetal/wreckers airazor. I can't think of another character the figure could be but the knives and legs becoming the wings are so cool

with those legs, rhinox is the true successor to the prime vehicon mold

It's a pass on Prime, but Rhinox looks better than I thought he would. I think I'll wait for the eventual SS figure, but I'm curious to have this compared to T30 and Kingdom.

Prime just looks like a slightly modified BB Prime.

I have to agree. Rhinox looks pretty sharp, but there's nothing that makes that Prime stand out amongst the 8,793,421 other Primes Hasbro has pumped out.

Both of those figures look really good. I am so excited for these, and if they are being sighted in stores, that means they might be available for me to buy soon.

I am going to buy so many RotB toys, I am excited.

Or is that design impossible to pull off at all at the deluxe scale? Or even at in the MPM line despite the thing having being done 3 or 4 times by 3P already?

Never been a huge fan of the beast Transformers, but Rhinox definitely looks good in the pictures. Optimus looks so-so...
at least he doesn't look anorexic. Can't wait to see some video reviews of these.

It seems they don't like redoing iterations of characters they've already done. So the first run BB movie stuff has not ben revisted, but they gave us improved versions of the characters in different forms (Jeep Bee, jet Shatter, car Dropkick) later on.

There may also be the VW licensing conundrum.

Think if I was to pick, I like this ROTB Rhinox more than the Kingdom one, which is why I passed on it to begin with. Something that just crossed my mind about that Optimus is perhaps it IS an all new mold but just mimics the previous ones transformation scheme, either partly or wholly

We saw the new voyager class Optimus Prime and Rhinox from the Rise of the Beasts toyline the other day, but just in their boxes. Now, we can see them clearly in alt mode and robot mode. And we also see them compared to the previous toys of the same character and in both cases we can see how these are completely new toys. We even get a video review of Optimus Prime in Chinese.

Just to clarify, these are NOT Studio Series toys, but mainline toys. While they will be the same price as Studio Series voyagers, they are based on different designs given to the Hasbro toy development teams since these toys were being made much before the Studio Series toys.
Also, while we are getting a Studio Series Rhinox, the voyager Optimus Prime in the Studio Series line will only be available through the Buzzworthy Bumblebee line at Target. To go with these images, we also have new stock images from the Studio Series line. These show the packaging and background for Cheetor, Arcee, Bumblebee and Battletrap.

The images of Rhinox come from 劉宗岳 and Guo Sheng Wu. The images of Optimus come from 邱合成. The stock images form from Hasbro Korea.

That Rhinoceros mode is just a huge cube and that Optimus got Kibble cancer in truck mode.

Oh well. Easy skips in the end.
That is, unless there's a sale.

Looking forward to Rhinox, but that overhead shot is a bit off-putting.

Thankfully though, when displayed, that angle won't be that obvious.

Agreed! The only thing that gives me hope, is the lack of hollowness (arms, legs, etc.). In hand, hopefully it's a solid figure. Haven't had a chance to watch the video yet, so fingers crossed, my hopes aren't already crushed lol

just looks like a brick in any mode. easy pass. not sure about the optimus yet.

I'll add that the Cyberverse deluxes were around 5 or 10$CAN cheaper than the Generations or SS deluxes. I think it's the same for the recent Earthspark line too.

I like Rhinox a lot, Prime I think I'll wait for a sale.

I wonder how we would feel about these designs if the figures came out last year with the movie like they were supposed to? Would we have felt differently knowing potentially better alternatives were coming in the same year as opposed to a year later?

I’m not a “Bay-hater” in terms of designs, but if you don’t like it you don’t like it…

I don’t care if it’s been 47 years since that first film.
Not to mention, not liking that style isn’t a simultaneous claim that G1 is the best, or that everything should go back to G1.

The point is not about "liking" or "not liking".
It's about hating so much that one is wishing for the thing to completely disappear. As if the thing is a scourge and only seeing it gone forever would that makes you finally happy.

That's a very baffling and unhealthy mindset.
