The
LA Times have posted an article about a recent visit to one of Michael bay's editing studios.
While doing a good job at only giving brief run-downs of the scenes previewed (many of which have been glimpsed in part in the various trailers), there are still spoilers a plenty regarding both characters and storyline, so be warned if you are trying to remain spoiler free.
Bay revealed to the Times two voice actors providing character voices for Revenge of the Fallen, while one: Frank Welker is already public knowledge, the other Tom Kenny (Transformers Animated Starscream) is a new name to be associated with the film. While not stating which character they will be playing, Welker has been
more or less confirmed as playing Soundwave, there has been no comment on whose voice/voices Kenny will be providing.
Bay also talks about the casting of main characters Sam and Mikaela, and how the cast has grown closer as a result of the first film.

A journalist for the Australian paper-
The Advertiser, Sean Fewster tips us on a returning voice actor for the next movie that completely refutes one Michael Bay's original statements about the movie sequel.
One of Sean's co-workers at the paper, film writer Andrew Fenton interviewed actor Hugo Weaving:
"Mega Secret
By Andrew Fenton
Film Writer, The Advertiser
In town to promote his rather excellent new Aussie film, "Last Ride", Hugo Weaving let slip he'll be returning as the voice of Megatron in "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen".
Fans no doubt will recall that when we last saw Megatron, Sam (Shia LaBeouf) had rammed the All Spark cube into his chest, thereby destroying him. Despite this certain death, rumours have been circulating the villain was going to make a comeback. Director Michael Bay went so far as to flatly deny the rumour, telling Empire: "He's not in the movie".
Turns out Bay was fibbing. "I've already done it," Weaving says, adding Bay had told him to keep the news hush-hush. "He's over in LA and we were working on the video split sort of thing and I had this strange conversation where he seemed to imply it was all a big secret. So there you go - I've given you the secret scoop."
So how is Megatron resurrected? Weaving is coy about revealling too much, but does give a tiny hint.
"I think in the last one, doesn't Optimus Prime pick up a little bit of, a shard of the cube, or the thing that's left, and he takes it with him. Maybe there's something there... but I don't know," he laughs.
We'll find out on June 25, the film's Australian release."
For those hoping for the return of Generation One Megatron voice actor Frank Welker to take the role if the big bad in the sequel, well it appears you are out of luck. What other voice actors from the first film will be making a return? Stay tuned to Seibertron.com for more revenge news as it happens.
Thanks to Sean, and Andrew for this piece of Revenge of the Fallen news.

Moonbase 2 have reported some interesting information.
According the podcast, Transformers original voice actor Frank Welker has received a package, via the United States Postal Service directly from Paramount Pictures.
What could this mean? Could it mean that Transfans voices have been heard and we will see the return of a TF legend?

From
www.darkhorizons.com:
Meanwhile, Hugo Weaving has apparently won the role of voicing Megatron in the upcoming Transformers movie reports The IESB.
Weaving and Frank Welker, who voiced the cartoon version, have been in 'rumoured competition' for the role for a few months and now it seems the Aussie actor won out.
Never fear though cartoon fans, Welker will apparently voice a robot in the film anyhow - but not Megatron.
If true, this is great news! In addition to being a great nod to the fans, adding the most prolific voice actor in the business today to the cast is a great move!

Ever since fans learned that the upcoming
Transformers Movie would be a reality, they agreed on two things. They wanted Peter Cullen back as Optimus Prime and Frank Welker back as Megatron. Well it looks like fans will only get part of their wish. It looks like Welker will not be backj as Megatron. Welker posted the following on his own
website back on December 12, 2006:
"I am not really sure what's happening with the "Transformer" movie other than my talented friend Peter Cullen has been cast. Presently, I have not been offered any roles. They are doing a new series based on our old shows which neither Peter nor I were cast. I think Corey Burton is playing the new Megatron. He is a wonderful voice talent and a great guy, so it's nice to be replaced by folks you like at any rate."
Also notice that Welker mentions that Corey Burton will be playing the part of Megatron in a new Transformers series.
Keep in mind none of this has yet to be confirmed and it is only rumor at this time. The main reason being that Welker made these comments back on December 12, 2007 and on January 8, 2007 IESB reported that Welker was days away from signing on as Megatron.

The Movie Reporter aka
IESB.net has posted a statement on their site regarding Frank Welker. According to their
article, several sources have confirmed to them that Frank Welker is only days away to officially signing on to the
Transformers Movie and reprise his role as the voice of the Decepticon leader Megatron.
"
One of our sources tells the IESB that Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg never expected the legions of Transformers fans to rally behind both Frank and Peter the way they have, fans have been vocal and their message went all the way to the top. We should expect an official announcement very soon".
For the moment we will view this as a rumor, until more solid evidence present themselves. We will keep you updated. It should be noted that The Movie Reporter does have a pretty good track record on these types of things.
Update:
The article has been updated with a rather interesting tidbit.
"
We just received a very interesting tidbit of information, while I stand behind my studio sources that claim that Frank Welker will indeed be Megatron, another reliable studio source is telling me that as of two weeks ago, Hugo Weaving was also a leading contender for the role of Megatron. Frank Welker or Hugo Weaving? Hmm, something to think about".

As many of you may have read earlier, Seibertron.com announced that Frank Welker was cast as Megatron in the upcoming Transformers movie. We at Seibertron.com deeply apologize for this error. What happened is as follows:
In an effort to bring you the most up to date news from BotCon (and beyond) we, from time to time, create "potential stories" in advance of the actual release. This way, we're able to get our readers the news faster than we could hope to type it. Unfortunately the way the News system currently works meant that a forum post was created of this "potential story" despite our intention to keep the story hidden until such time as it were announced.
We at Seibertron.com deeply apologize for any inconvenienience or confusion this may have caused. We assure you, that the problem regarding News and forum posts has been fixed and such a problem will never happen again. We thank you all for your continued support and thank everyone who has made Seibertron.com not only the best "resource website," but also the best "overall designed website."
