Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye artist Alex Milne has updated his deviantART account with one of the retail incentive covers for IDW's upcoming Transformers Spotlight: Megatron. This version will be exclusive to Brampton Ontario's Staduim Comics. Below you will find the retail, clean, and lineart versions of the cover featuring Megatron with Soundwave and Shockwave.

Alex Milne wrote:well this was a special cover i got the chance to work on. The owner of the comic shop i go to asked me if i was interested in doing a cover for and store exclusive book. this was something that we had talked about many times in the past but there hadn't been a transformers one to do....until now
the owner pitched the idea to me about doing a cover, but was unsure about doing it since he wasn't aware about where the books fit into the main stories. i asked what books he was offered a cover for. he mentioned a G.I.Joe one, then a tf comic about megatron. i was like ok.....then i was like, wait, what, megatron? do you mean spotlight megatron? then i was like OMG i want to do that
so after a discussion that day, i came up with some roughs. the owner and i went over them, and then i whipped up the cover. it was a blast to do. i love drawing this design of megatron. i know its not the most loved design, but i do enjoy drawing it. i added the store logo in the bottom cover plus a couple extra decepticons that i knew the owner liked it was a joy to work on
so this will be a store exclusive comic. i will have a few copies that people will be able to get from me at the various conventions i will be at, but other then from me, stadiums comics will be the only place you'll be able to get this cover of the book
here is a like to there store [link]
here a link to there facebook for the in store signing i will be doing [link]

the fabulous colors were provided by the ever so talented Josh Perez. i think he out did himself on this cover. it really turned out well
it was a joy to work with him on this project. i always wished when i was working on the ongoing comics that i would have gotten to do an issue or 2 with him.
i love all the textures he has going on in the image.

well , back to work for me
enjoy

The official Transformers facebook page has posted a Creator Commentary for Transformers: Robots in Disguise Ongoing #13. Series writer John Barber gives us his thoughts on the first five pages, which we've mirrored below for those without facebook access.

Re: Transformers: Robots in Disguise Ongoing #13 Preview
PAGE 1- Starscream is talking to the comatose Megatron, who was heavily blasted by the Autobots in the previous issue. Given these 2 have so much history between them across the Transformers franchise, how do you go about putting another spin or direction with them, showing us something brand new between them?

JOHN BARBER: I think there’s been a conceptual change in their relationship. It isn’t that Starscream is trying to usurp Megatron, or trying to fill Megatron’s shoes anymore—it’s that Starscream has found more of a Starscream-way to get what he wants. The problem is that he knows Megatron will bring in the old status quo of Autobots versus Decepticons—and Starscream knows neither of them will win that way.

In next month’s TRANSFORMERS SPOTLIGHT: MEGATRON comic that Nick Roche wrote and drew, we see them at an earlier point in their history—not long before the start of the current ROBOTS IN DISGUISE and MORE THAN MEETS THE EYES comic book series, The relationship then is very different. I think comparing the two comics really makes the changes that occurred to Starscream over the last couple years.

Re: Transformers: Robots in Disguise Ongoing #13 Preview
PAGE 2- Starscream continues talking to Megatron, until he sees him smile. Right now, does Starscream really believe in the whole peace concept, or could this just be another one of his games that he plays?

JOHN BARBER Starscream is a complicated fellow. This whole issue is from Starscream’s point of view—and it’s the second of those in a very short amount of time. So despite the fact that we, as readers, really get to see in Starscream’s head… I don’t think the answer to what Starscream really believes in is clear yet.

I think he’s being pretty honest in what he says to Megatron, though.

Re: Transformers: Robots in Disguise Ongoing #13 Preview
PAGE 3- Starscream reacts to Megatron’s “smile” as rioting continues on Cybertron. When planning out RID, was this scene something you thought up very early and worked on from that point?

JOHN BARBER: Well, Megatron’s return was part of the story from day one, and the impact that return would have on Iacon was planned from the beginning. Starscream’s relationship with Megatron—or his relationship with the idea of Megatron—was definitely key to the whole story of RID, so that was pretty solidly in place.

The idea of Starscream trying to talk Megatron out of what Starscream assumes he’s doing… that came a little bit later. I mean, the series wasn’t constructed to work toward this scene; this scene came out of what the story was working towards.

Re: Transformers: Robots in Disguise Ongoing #13 Preview
PAGES 4 and 5- Chaos continues on as Needlenose continues to lead the rioting and Starscream reflects on what happened the previous year and where he stands. Is the established peace about to literally blow up in its face from this point? The planets future is starting to look dark again.

JOHN BARBER: I don’t know if it ever looked that bright. But you’ve hit the question right on the head, so to speak. There are enough Decepticons—and we’ve definitely seen enough Autobots, too—that, at some level, want the war to continue. It’s the only life they’ve known, and there are also millions-of-year-old resentments that don’t die easy. The Decepticons have been pushed to the side for the entire run of RID. There’s only so far you can stretch them before they break.

Paramount just sent us an email with news about the last actor to join the cast of the upcoming Transformers 4 film, which will be released in Summer 2014. According to IMDB.com, Jack's filmography includes The Delivery Man, Cold, What Richard Did, Chasing Leprechauns (TV movie), Dollhouse, Stella (short), Three Wise Women (TV movie), and Country.

Michael Bay announces Jack Reynor for Transformers 4 cast

Michael Bay wrote:I just hired a great new actor for Transformers 4 to star against Mark Wahlberg. Jack Reynor, he is an Irish kid that came to America with 30 bucks in his pocket. Pretty ballsy. Seriously who does that? Anyway I spotted him in a great little Irish movie WHAT RICHARD DID. This kid is the real deal.

Transformers 4, is not a reboot. That word has been floating around on the net.
This movie takes place exactly 4 years after the war in Chicago. The story makes a very natural transition, and reason as to why we have a whole new cast. This Transformers will feel very different then the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy.

Okay folks we have a bit of a rarity here, an interview with Transformers Generation 1 Season 5's Tommy Kennedy. Many of you may not be aware, but a 5th season of Sunbow's Transformers Generation 1 did air in 1988. It was a retrospective season comprised of reruns from the original series and The Transformers: The Movie cut down into five episodes. The only original content to come out of Season 5 were live action bumpers featuring a stop-motion/animatronic Powermaster Optimus Prime talking to a young boy named Tommy Kennedy. The episodes played out as if Powermaster Optimus Prime were telling a stories to Tommy.

After season 5 Tommy Kennedy virtually disappeared from the fandom, all that was known is that he was played by the child actor Jason Jansen (Jankowski). After all these years he's turned up and was recently interviewed by the Digest My Brain blog. Click here to read the full interview.

Re: Tommy Kennedy, Found – An Interview with Jason Jansen

Here's a YouTube clip from the Seibertron.com channel featuring some of the bumper footage.

If you were a fan, how did it feel “talking” to Optimus Prime? Did they have a crew member say his lines off camera to help with timing or was Peter Cullen’s voice prerecorded?

When saying my lines (if i remember correctly) there was mix of things that were going on. At times someone off camera would recite Optimus Primes lines, but I believe it was a member of the crew and not Peter Cullen. Other times, if the scene was shorter and the camera cut away, I would just pause my lines while saying them to account for another voice to be inserted later. I actually just read through the transcripts on the wiki and remember saying every single one of them – I was able to memorize quite a bit – but I my memory serves me correctly I believe I definitely had some large cue cards up there behind the cameras as well. They were color coded to help break up the lines.

Optimus looked great – up close you could tell it was made from wood and plastic, but it was a real dam good job. A little bit of info, we had two puppeteers working Optimus Prime. I believe one guy was inside his head and moving his mouth while another moved his head from side to side. One of the guys was a famous puppeteer and had worked on Sesame Street inside of “Snuffalupagus” not sure if I have spelled that correctly. I remember he was known for his work.

The official Transformers facebook page has shared an interview with Transformers Prime: Rage of the Dinobots artist Agustin Padilla. Where mirrored the interview below for those without facebook access.

Q: Hello Agustin. Thank you for doing this Q&A session. How is everything going with you?

AGUSTIN PADILLA: Hi! Very well, thank you.

Q: You are the artist for TRANSFORMERS PRIME: RAGE OF THE DINOBOTS. How does the challenge of draw large Cybertronians compare to the work you have done on G.I. JOE and DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: THE LEGEND OF DRIZZT?

AGUSTIN PADILLA: It’s been a very interesting change, because ’til now I’ve always worked with human characters—but working with mechanical beings and trying to show their personalities has been something exciting. Also, I was a fan of TRANSFORMERS, the TV show, when I was a kid, so this was thrilling to me.

Q: Who are your main inspirations as a comic book artist? Have there been many that have influenced your art style?

AGUSTIN PADILLA: I’ve had several influences; I grew up reading comics, and trying to draw what I saw on those pages. Among my favorite artists are Carlos Pacheco, Mike Mignola, Alan Davis, Silvestri, Madureira, Ramos, Charest…

Q: How did you come to be involved in the project? Was Transformers something that you’d always wanted to draw?

AGUSTIN PADILLA: I’ve always liked to work on series that I’ve enjoyed as a child, so when I got the chance, I prepared some tryouts and I was lucky.

Q: How much research did you have to do on the PRIME series before you started drawing the comic?

AGUSTIN PADILLA: Not many, I was familiar with most of the characters.

Q: Which of the main characters in the series have you found hardest to draw, and also the easiest?

AGUSTIN PADILLA: Truth is that most of them have the same difficulty, so I can’t really tell you any that were especially easy or hard.

Q: How long does it usually take you to complete an issue of ROTD?

AGUSTIN PADILLA: About a month.

Q: If you could write and draw your own Prime comic, do you know what story you would tell and what characters would be in it?

AGUSTIN PADILLA: I think that NEMESIS is a very interesting character. A Miniseries of him searching for the ancient Cybertronian artifacts buried on Earth could be cool.

Q: Has working on this series changed the way you work as an artist much?

AGUSTIN PADILLA: I’ve learned a lot. I had to develop my style more than in other projects, and also the narrative for a comic like this. That will help me on my future works

Q: What work will you be doing next after you have finished drawing TRANSFORMERS PRIME: RAGE OF THE DINOBOTS?

AGUSTIN PADILLA: Well, that’s something I can’t reveal yet.
