CBR has posted an interview with IDW senior editor and writer John Barber. In the interview he discusses Transformers: Robots in Disguise Ongoing, the upcoming Transformers Spotlight: Bumblebee, and more. We also get a look at Andrew Griffith's cover for Transformers: Robots in Disguise Ongoing #15 and a couple of preview pages from the Bumblebee oneshot by artist David Daza. Click here to read the full interview.

How do these two stories tie in to the existing IDW "Transformers" continuity?

"Spotlight: Bumblebee" thematically ties in with what's happening in "Robots in Disguise" right now. "RID" is about Bumblebee's fall; "Spotlight: Bumblebee" goes back to his rise. It's very much a part of the ongoing comic book continuity of the "Transformers" comics we publish. You don't have to have read any of the other comics, but if you have, you'll see where it fits in to the ongoing tapestry.

"Fall of Cybertron" is part of the continuity of the video games and the "Prime" television show and the novels. The comic actually also leads in to our comic book series "Transformers Prime: Rage of the Dinobots," which bridges the gap between the game and the TV show.

You've also got a lot of cool stuff happening in your "Transformers" ongoing series, "Robots in Disguise," with a massive storyline reaching its payoff this spring. What's been going on in that title and what can fans expect in the next few months as Megatron plots his revenge?

Since issue #1 of "RID," we've been trying to establish a new status quo -- a difficult-to-maintain, tense, post-war peace. The idea has been, from the characters' points of view, to move past war -- to try to live together in some sort of harmony.

As you might guess, Megatron doesn't want that. He wants the old status quo -- he wants war, and he wants to win that war. It's a battle not of Autobot versus Decepticon, but of old versus new.

His plan, though, is big and brutal. The action gets bigger and bigger and just when you think it's as nightmarish as it can be -- it gets worse.

Transformers Prime: Rage of the Dinobots Co-Writer Mairghread Scott Interview

The official Transformers facebook page has shared an interview with Transformers Prime: Rage of the Dinobots co-writer Mairghread Scott. We've mirrored the interview below for those without facebook access.

Q: We’re at the end of the TRANSFORMERS PRIME: RAGE OF THE DINOBOTS mini-series. How have you found the whole comic writing experience? Is there anything you’ve learned that you could use while writing an episode of TRANSFORMERS PRIME?
MAIRGHREAD SCOTT: It’s a different muscle, comics and TV, but it was a thrill to get stronger in another way. In comics, however much you streamline (a fight sequence, a dialog exchange), you can always streamline more and that’s a great habit for any medium. I will definitely cut with a deeper knife when I write TV.

Q: Would you say that you and Mike have achieved all of the goals that you set out for yourself in the telling of the mini-series?
MAIRGHREAD SCOTT: Never. There is always more to explore. We barely touched on the background of a lot of the Dinobots. We’ve only just set up the idea of living in this really cool world. What we did do was introduce some fantastic bad guys, hint at a whole new era of Cybertronian history, tell the fans who we think the Dinobots are, and tell a good story. That’s why I’m so happy about this new series, BEAST HUNTERS. With a longer series I think we can really show off the best aspects of this new world. Of course, that only happen is fans buy it, so make sure to pre-order, Dino-lovers!

Q: You’ve talked previously about the characters you liked writing for. Were there any that surprised you while the scripts were being written? Or did each one do what you thought they should do?
MAIRGHREAD SCOTT: I never knew how much I’d fall in love with Slug. It makes me feel curmudgeonly, but I love that he’s so grumpy because I almost never get to write someone like that. Even Ratchet is more of a team player than Slug. It was also a relief to write Sludge, who doesn’t have a ton of baggage. As much as I love the other Dinobots, Sludge is a breath of fresh air sometimes.

Q: Have you and Mike been keeping the other writers on PRIME fully aware of the events in the comic so they know the Dinobots continuity for when they appear on the series?
MAIRGHREAD SCOTT: Luckily, I work side by side with Duane and the other writers every day, so we are able to keep each other up to date. They know exactly where we are and where we’re going. But it’s very important for us to avoid PRIME chasing after us or us chasing after them. For now the Dinobots are all ours to play with and that’s just fine with me.

Q: What was the big highlight for you in the series? Is there any one scene(s) that stand head and shoulder above the rest for you?
MAIRGHREAD SCOTT: SPOILER ALERT FOR ISSUE 4! I love when Shockwave takes off Grimlock’s face. I really wanted it to have that Hannibal Lector feel and it came out perfectly.

Q: Have you had much of a chance to see how the fans have reacted to the mini-series and gauge their feedback?
MAIRGHREAD SCOTT: Yes. Actually, I'll take this moment to give a shout-out to the guys and gals at Moonbase 2. They did a great interview with us and it was a treat to talk with such big TF fans. Often, there’s this fine line of wanting to interact with the fans and giving them the space to work things out among themselves. If a fan tweets me (and you’re welcome to at @MairghreadScott), I’m always happy to respond, but I know I’d hate to post a critique on a board if I knew I was going to have to face down the author and get into a point-by-point debate every time I did so. Anyway it’s a long way of saying I stalk the boards but don't comment.

Q: If you weren’t a writer right now, do you know what career path you would have taken instead?
MAIRGHREAD SCOTT: Something a lot less fun. I can be anything by writing about them. Until Mad Scientists and Robotic Dinosaurs get their 401(k)s in order, I’ll stick to writing, thank you very much.

Q: Can we expect any more for you and Mike again on PRIME comics, if there should be any in the future?
MAIRGHREAD SCOTT: Actually, they just announced our new TRANSFORMERS PRIME: BEAST HUNTERS book! Order code from Diamond is MAR130375 so buy a bunch! Same great Dinos, now with more beasts and a new, super-accessible format that we’re very excited about. Keep your ears to the ground, TF Fans…

Forbes has published an interview with game music composer James Hannigan, who's credits include Transformers Universe, Runescape, and Dead Space 3. We've mirrored the interview content regarding Transformers Universe below, the full interview can be found by clicking here.

Click here to visit the official Transformers Universe MMO website.

JB: More importantly, are you a Transformers fan, at all?

JH: Giant, battling transforming alien robots… what’s not to like? Most recently, I watched the original animated movie again and caught ‘Robots in Disguise’ along with season one of ‘Prime’. Very enjoyable and interesting to see how things have evolved over the years in the world of Transformers.

JB: How would you describe the sound of Transformers Universe?

JH: Some of the music is not a million miles away from the stylistic framework established for Transformers in general, but there’s also a move towards being a little harsher and grittier at times. Steve Lord, the Audio Director on Transformers Universe, wanted some tracks to have a grinding, almost mechanistic and robotic feel to them. But there’s quite a bit of orchestral music in there, too. We recorded a 72-piece orchestra for some of the early music going into the game, and there’ll be more orchestral production in the near future as composing and recording for Transformers Universe is an ongoing process. One of the interesting and refreshing things about this game is how episodic it is with new content getting planned for it all the time.

JB: If you had to pick one track to represent the soundtrack, which would it be and why?

JH: It’s difficult to single out any one track but I’d say that collectively the various themes will define the sound and set the tone for the game. I particularly like the Autobot Theme, which tries to capture an air of nobility and heroism, coupled with awesome firepower!

20 July, 2012 (Monday ) - Hong Kong

Mr. David Chua
Hasbro Asia
Regional Customer Strategy &
Marketing Director,
Asia

D= Mr. David Chua

T: Hi David , for the past several years, we have seen some spectacular Transformers items called " Asia Exclusive " , can you tell us what is this project all about? , and how did you come up with the plan ?

D: Our goal is fulfilling the dream of Transformers fans. Transformers fans are very professional and their taste is sophisticated. We always challenge ourselves to make the ultimate toys which they would want to own and proudly display. Our ideas always come from the feedback of fans, we would discuss and work closely with our partner at Takara Tomy to work out the plan.

T: What are the difficultly you are having while proceeding the project?

D : Timing and the increasing production cost is most difficult part of the project. Taste and trend are ever-changing, we must try to launch the right product at the right timing and of course right pricing.

T: How do you select on which series or character to be including in the project?

D: There is no exact formula on this topic. We would consider the popularity of series/character, also the room for product improvement.

T: Last but not least, can you share with us what is currently in planning, and what are we expecting to see?

D: We are not going to give it away for now, but we promise something big would happen in the near future. So stay tuned!

T: David, thank you for your precious time.
D : You are much welcome.

Something "Big" will happen? TransformerAsia.com will follow on that for sure !! Stay tuned!

Recently confirmed Transformers 4 actor Jack Reynor spoke briefly to BANG Showbiz while attending the London Critics Circle Film Awards regarding his upcoming role in the next installment of the live action franchise. Reynor will be taking on the role of Wahlberg's daughter's race car driving love interest. Reynor touched on his training, audition process, Mark Wahlberg, and director Michael Bay. Check out his comments below as relayed by ComicBookMovie.com.

On training:
I'm training very intensely at the moment. I'm going to keep that up until we shoot. I'm going to do some different courses, some different things I need to pick up for the film. My character seems to be a race car driver so I'm going to be doing a couple of driving courses and getting out on the track.

On the audition process:
It was after a film I was doing, 'The Delivery Man', with Dreamworks. I went through quite a rigorous audition process out in L.A., and after a certain amount of auditions and meetings with different executives, I managed to pull it off.

On Mark Wahlberg:
I haven't met him before, but I'm really excited. He's one of my favourite actors. I just think he's brilliant. I have a huge amount of respect for him as an actor so I can't wait to get on set with him.

On Michael Bay:
I think Michael Bay has his ideas about it and I'm going to go along with him. He seems to know what he's doing.

TFcon has shared a short video from last year's convention featuring Bob Budiansky, the man responsible for shaping much of the early Transformers continuity. Check out the video embedded below. This year's event takes place July 26th through 28th, click here for more details.

Mr. Budiansky is responsible for much of the writing of the original Marvel Transformers comic, and conceived the names of most of the original Transformers including Megatron. He also wrote the vast majority of the descriptive tech spec biographies printed on the Transformers toy packages that Hasbro produced in the 1980s, giving each character it's own unique personality.

If you caught last night's episode of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno you saw Mark Wahlberg promoting his new film Broken City. As we all know Wahlberg has been confirmed to star in the next installment of the Transformers live action movie franchise, which he mentioned during the course of his conversation with Leno. The interesting thing about his comment is that it directly conflicts with director Michael Bay's statement regarding the direction of Transformers 4. Bay has said on multiple occasions that TF4 will not be a franchise reboot, but a continuation of the previous trilogy taking place four years after the events of DOTM. During last night's interview Wahlberg very plainly stated it would be a reboot.

Once this information circulates for a bit there's a good chance Bay will respond with an explanation. Stay tuned.

Mark Wahlberg from last night's Tonight Show:
We’re doing a complete reboot of the Transformers. I did a movie with Michael Bay called Pain and Gain, which comes out in April. And we had an amazing time together and really hit it off

Michael Bay from Jack Reynor's Casting Announcement (01/08/13):
Transformers 4, is not a reboot. That word has been floating around on the net.
This movie takes place exactly 4 years after the war in Chicago. The story makes a very natural transition, and reason as to why we have a whole new cast. This Transformers will feel very different then the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy.
