Gemini Award winning Garry Chalk has been a professional actor for 33 years. He has appeared in well over a hundred movies and television shows, among them Cold Squad, Stargate SG1, The Outer Limits, Transformers, and many others. Garry recently filmed an episode of TV series, Psych, as well as obtained a role on J.J. Abrams' new show Alcatraz. In addition, Garry just landed a supporting lead role in the much anticipated movie Big Time Rush Movie. He is currently appearing in AMC'S monster hit The Killing, which has been renewed for another season.

Born in Southampton England, Chalk came to Canada at a very early age and found that he enjoyed performing. His first television appearance was in an episode of Saturday Kids' Party with Ron Morriere as a singer in a Kiwanis boys choir when he was 12 years old. Since then, he has appeared many feature films like The Watchmen, Deck the Halls, The Fly II, Battle in Seattle, and Sea Wolfe with Charles Bronson.

Further, his animation career spans 30 years and over a thousand episodes of cartoons. Among them The Transformers, Energon Beastwars, GI Joe, Sonic the Hedgehog, Reboot, and many, many more. Most recently, he starred as Sky Marshall Wade in the new hit series, Voltron Force.

Mr. Chalk continues to work in all areas of the entertainment world in film, television, animation, and the theater.

For the past few years, Chalk has resurrected his music career and performs at various venues in his home town Vancouver, Canada as a singer, guitarist, and piano player. But of all his creative pursuits, his greatest love is cartoons, and he says he will do voices in cartoons until the day he dies.

Andrew Wildman has posted on his blog, Wildwords, that he has additional original Transformers comic art for sale. A great chance to own a unique piece of Transformers' history. Click here to visit Wildwords.

With all the excitement about the new Transformers ReGeneration comic I thought I would have a dig around and see if there were any pages of art left from the original Marvel run. Pretty much all of the art has sold over the last 20 years but there are four that still remain. One of the reasons for this is that they have taken a bit of battle damage. That said I thought it would be a good idea to put them up for sale on the website anyway. Also found is a whole bunch of stuff from the UK Marvel Transformers comic. It’s been great fun looking through these for many reasons, one being that there are many characters in there who have cropped up since and that are now very familiar to me. Back then I had no idea who they all were :-/ Just followed the script and the reference. These pages were also inked by me which is quite a rare thing. I do tend to ink my own covers but rarely ink interior art.

any way. Pop along to the SHOP and take a look. I am sure that like me you will feel that warm glow of nostalgia

According to NYMag.com, Michael Bay is VERY close to signing a deal for Transformers 4.

Claude Brodesser-Akner wrote:Another insider familiar with the situation cautioned that while Paramount “does not have a closed deal” with Bay, the studio “is not far from closing” on one either, and that an announcement could come as early as next week. Meanwhile, the details of the next cyborg saga are being kept secret, but we’re told that it is definitely not a prequel, and that it will delve deeper into Transformers canon to mine older characters and lore. "Regular people might not care about bringing out a character like Sentinel Prime," says one of our insiders, referring to the little-known character who played a major part in last summer’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon, "But believe me, fans of the series cared."

The Transformers facebook page has posted this week's Q&A, which features Writer's Assistant Mairghread Scott. The session has been mirrored below for those of you who do not have facebook access.

Kelly Paradise asks: Hello, Mairghread! First off, great episode. “Stronger, Faster“ is one of my favorite episodes of “Transformers Prime.” What tricks of the trade do you suggest for somebody interested in writing for animated series?

Mairghread Scott: I think the most important thing to remember about writing is re-writing. Only about 20% of my time is writing a brand new script. 80% is tweaking, honing and cutting to make what I wrote better. When it comes to writing animation, the secret is movement. Live action TV is largely people standing around talking. In animation, your characters can do anything while talking, so try to add movement however you can (chases, fighting, even just walking from place to place).

Amber Whetstine asks: What inspires you for the episodes you write?

Mairghread Scott: I usually try to start with emotions when I write. Using "Stronger, Faster" as an example: I noticed the Autobots rarely attack the Decepticons head-on because they're so outnumbered. It's a smart strategy, but it seemed to me that it must be frustrating sometimes. You're whittling away at your enemy instead of having one big, satisfying fight. I thought Ratchet would probably be even more frustrated, because he's usually not even in the field; he's healing the others so they can return to this drawn-out battle. "Stronger, Faster" became a way for me to explore that frustration and Ratchet's desire for a single, decisive victory. Also, I thought it would be cool to have an Autobot tell off Optimus.

Catherine Martin asks: “Stronger, Faster” is one of my favourite “Transformers Prime” episodes! Do you think the events of the episode have had a permanent effect on Ratchet?

Mairghread Scott: Of course our Story Editor (the fabulous Duane Capizzi) could answer this better, but I like to think my episode had the most impact on Optimus. Ratchet does gain a certain confidence from the events in "Stronger, Faster," but it's the first time someone really calls out Optimus for not being more aggressive toward the Decepticons. I think of this episode as the seed for Optimus' duel with Megatron in "One Shall Fall."

Matt Spada asks: What have been some of the biggest challenges with writing the show? What characters do you feel need to be more deeply explored? Has it been difficult to work on a show with characters that are over 20 years old and are viewed in a specific way?

Mairghread Scott: The biggest challenge in writing our show is the fact that we're CG, so we have to be very careful about introducing new characters, sets and props. On the bright side, it has pushed us to build stronger main characters instead of just using endless new Bad-Guys-Of-The-Week.

On your next question, I actually worked really hard in Season 2 to explore Miko more deeply. I know she's a bit polarizing for the fans, but it takes guts to stand up to Megatron (especially when you're ankle-high). In Season 2, I really tried to dig into that fearless part of Miko's character.

As far as our characters’ history, I enjoy working with pre-existing characters. Sure, we can't incorporate the entire history of each Transformer, but I find it more interesting to deepen a character that already exists, rather than just constantly inventing new characters.

Haley Franklin asks: Hey! Is it fun writing for Transformers Prime? I bet it's very interesting to come up with ideas and actually put them into an episode.

Mairghread Scott: It is super fun writing for “Transformers Prime!” My favorite part is watching the actors record my script. My happiest moment in "Stronger, Faster" was when Ratchet is trying to get Bulkhead to spar with him. Jeffrey Combs (who plays Ratchet) was so into it he actually started to tap Kevin Michael Richardson (who plays Bulkhead) on the shoulder. If actors start getting into it, you know you've done something right.

Thanks to everyone who asked questions! Roll Out!

- Mairghread

29 year old Marcus Goh won a USS sponsored contest in order participate in the official opening of Transformers The Ride, at Universal Studios, Singapore. The contest asked fans to "pledge their allegiance" by entering pictures that featured an Autobot insignia. Goh arranged all of his red Transformers against a black backdrop to form the recognizable symbol. A lifelong fan and collector, with a very respectable 500 plus figure collection, Marcus was as excited as any fan would be about the event saying "I was psyching myself up (for today) listening to the Transformers soundtrack on the way to work, in the gym and all over the place,". Congratulations Marcus!
