Sarah Stone is a fantastic artist, I like her art almost as much as I do EJ Sue's.

It has changed the release date to slightly earlier (Feb 25, 2016), the page also includes a picture of the cover. I am not sure who is on the cover. I don't really keep up to date on the comics, I mainly just pick up the collections to read.

"In the early days of the war on Cybertron, two leaders start down their paths towards destiny. Meanwhile, on current day Cybertron, Megatron is back! It is, I just forgot to post the link to the story in here too.

At the dawn of the conflict, battle lines are drawn and sides are set… now legends will be made in PRIMACY. On current Cybertron, Shockwave sets into motion a long-gestating plan but Soundwave, now commander of the Decepticons, confronts him in the ancient Crystal City. On the Lost Light, Rodimus leads his crew to the gates of heaven–or something much worse as larger forces close in and an ancient plan is reaching fruition.
Collects Transformers: Primacy, Transformers: Robots in Disguise #19–22, and Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye #17–22.
The release date is Feb 21, 2017. Though it has been my experience that the release date is often pushed back a month. I get the impression that these collections are not very popular. I don't think they sell out. I have never needed to preorder them. I usually wait until release.

The end of everything! Shockwave makes a move millions of years in the planning–an ultimate strategy to remake Cybertron and destroy both the Autobots and Deceptions! Only the combined forces of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Rodimus can save their world–but billions of miles and eons of war leave our heroes divided, in “Dark Cybertron.” Plus, Windblade takes the planet by storm–but where did she come from–and what does her secret mean for the future of the Transformers?
Collects Dark Cybertron #1 and Finale, More Than Meets The Eye issues #23–27, Robots In Disguise issues #23–27, and Windblade issues #1–4.

Also, can anyone confirm whether these are a good deal or not? I think they are, considering they're hardcover, but I can't tell.

Rodimus Knight wrote:I was interested in picking some of these up to read through since I got tired of buying the individual series and not knowing where and when different miniseries took place, so I thought this would be a good way to get items in order and catch up, but then I noticed vol two of both phase 1 and phase 2 seems to be out of print.
As for phase 1, try the compendium, which collects phase 1 volumes 1 and 2, published in 2016.
With phase 2, have you tried Amazon? It usually tells me more are on the way with IDW stuff (can't check now).
[EDIT - Removed strange face that was not supposed to be there)

I see... I would get the trade paperbacks for RiD and MTMTE, and get the Spotlights (And Autocracy) on ComiXology or another digital site. I did something similar with Furman's work. If you can, wait for the sales on comiXology, as they seem to occur fairly frequently.
That's what I would do.

Now as I read exclusively through trades, I accept I am often months to years behind. I'm patient, it doesn't bother me. That said the general chatter I heard around the (then) RiD and MTMTE did concern me.
I've never been a fan of retcons and given how thorough Furman had been in laying down the foundations of the IDWverse, what I was hearing especially with characterisation, had me concerned. Long dead now, but I really liked the idea of Ultra Magnus as "Judge Dredd in Space".
So I bit the bullet and bought Phase Two vol.1, to continue the collection. Although the renumbering does mess with the prior aesthetic of the other books.. But I digress. So after reading that volume, my concerns were justified. So far removed from expectation it wasn't even funny. I actually sold the book on and cut my loses with 'Phase One' vol.8 and left IDWverse behind.
Better to read Origin, the original Spotlights etc than forcing regressive humanising traits on previously established characters and lore.
And that's why for many years, I once more quit Transformers. The second time since Beast Machines ended.
Rodimus Knight wrote:Phase 2 vol 2 on Amazon, and now that I looked again, they want $100 Plus.
A little late but try Book Depository. They are who I bought the IDW Collection from and more often than not the prices are more reasonable than Amazon.

By those three you mention, do you mean the collected works for each of those characters? If not, there are recent TPB collections that include pretty much all recent stories about all three (and again, I think that's what you're referring to!).

Yeah, I was referring to the recent/upcoming TPBs. Essentially, I’ve been collecting these big hardcover collections, but I’m considering switching formats to get more of what I like. My question is if there are any good stories in the ongoings that I might like that would make it easier to just continue with the hardcovers.
I know that you’re not really gonna know exactly what I like, but I tend to be on the same boat as the rest of the fandom, if anyone has advice.

ScottyP wrote:Looking into my somewhat faulty crystal ball, I expect the Phase 2, Volume 9 hardcover to be Combiner Wars and Sins of the Wreckers, probably with Redemption and the Windblade II #5-7 issues in there as well. If you've been keeping up through Phase 2, vol 7 (may have been mentioned, I was lazy and didn't click back) I don't see reason to get the other character volumes since most of their material is covered at that point - except for one big reason: Time. Probably a year or a bit longer before Vol 9 comes out.
Okay, so the thing is that I haven’t gotten 6 and 7 yet. I already have Dark Cybertron from a while back, so 6 would only be new with Windblade and 7 seems to be story arcs I don’t really care about too much. I also have collected only parts of phase 1 (namely Furman’s stuff, Last Stand, and Chaos) through different mediums, so this wouldn’t throw things off too much. It’s really all about this: Does Dark Cybertron shake up the ongoings too much, and do I need to read them to understand the Redemption stories and Windblade mini-series?
