Being that I have them already. I think I'll still get this. I'm feeling it will be an easier read, and I don't have to finger print my paperbacks.

I love the covers of these collections, and the colours on this one pop so incredibly well too.

Sarah Stone is a fantastic artist, I like her art almost as much as I do EJ Sue's.

I just noticed that Amazon is listing a preorder to Book 3 of Phase 2. There is no cover image, but it does give the release date of March 3, 2016.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/1631405403/ref ... P6XNHH07GB?tag=seibertron07-20&

The description is as follows

"The Lost Light finally reaches the Crystal City while Orion Pax follows a rogue group of Decepticons. Meahwhile, back on Cybertron, violence breaks out in the heart of the city and Prowl looks for someone to blame! Collects "More Than Meets The Eye" #9-13 and the 2012 Annual, "Robots in Disguise" #9-11 and the 2012 Annual, plus the Thundercracker, Bumblebee, and Megatron Spotlight issues."

The price is a bit high, but I have always seen the price go down to around $35 by the time it releases.

I was doing some online shopping today and I noticed that Amazon updated their page for Volume 3 of Phase 2

http://www.amazon.com/dp/1631405403/ref ... P6XNHH07GB?tag=seibertron07-20&

It has changed the release date to slightly earlier (Feb 25, 2016), the page also includes a picture of the cover. I am not sure who is on the cover. I don't really keep up to date on the comics, I mainly just pick up the collections to read.

I just noticed that IDW Collection Phase Two: Volume 4 is up for pre-order at Amazon with a release of September 6, 2016 and price of $44.99. I am not sure how many collect these. I still like this format.

http://www.amazon.com/Transformers-IDW- ... on+phase+2?tag=seibertron07-20&

The description is:

"In the early days of the war on Cybertron, two leaders start down their paths towards destiny. Meanwhile, on current day Cybertron, Megatron is back! Everything Bumblebee and his Autobots have built teeters on the edge of collapse–and Starscream has to make the choice his whole life has been leading to. On the Lost Light, a secret prisoner is confined in the bowels of the ship. Collects the Monstrosity mini-series, Robots in Disguise #12–18, and More Than Meets the Eye #14–16."

And it looks like Prowl is on the front.

IDW Collection Phase Two Volume 4 is releasing on Wednesday (Oct 19), but Amazon is accepting regular orders for it today. While I was on, I noticed they have preorders up for Volume 5. There is no cover art, but there is a description:

At the dawn of the conflict, battle lines are drawn and sides are set… now legends will be made in PRIMACY. On current Cybertron, Shockwave sets into motion a long-gestating plan but Soundwave, now commander of the Decepticons, confronts him in the ancient Crystal City. On the Lost Light, Rodimus leads his crew to the gates of heaven–or something much worse as larger forces close in and an ancient plan is reaching fruition.

Collects Transformers: Primacy, Transformers: Robots in Disguise #19–22, and Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye #17–22.

The release date is Feb 21, 2017. Though it has been my experience that the release date is often pushed back a month. I get the impression that these collections are not very popular. I don't think they sell out. I have never needed to preorder them. I usually wait until release.

Thanks to an updated listing on Amazon.com, we now have the cover art for Phase 2, Vol. 7 of the IDW Collection. This collection contains issues 28-34 of both Transformers: Robots in Disguise and Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye. Due to be released on March 27, 2018 in hardback form, the cover features Megatron in the same art style as the previous Phase 2 collections; appropriate, as these are the issues where Autobot Megatron joins the Lost Light! Will you be pre-ordering this volume? Let us know in the Energon Pub Forums!

I was interested in picking some of these up to read through since I got tired of buying the individual series and not knowing where and when different miniseries took place, so I thought this would be a good way to get items in order and catch up, but then I noticed vol two of both phase 1 and phase 2 seems to be out of print.

As for phase 1, try the compendium, which collects phase 1 volumes 1 and 2, published in 2016.
With phase 2, have you tried Amazon? It usually tells me more are on the way with IDW stuff (can't check now).

I see... I would get the trade paperbacks for RiD and MTMTE, and get the Spotlights (And Autocracy) on ComiXology or another digital site. I did something similar with Furman's work. If you can, wait for the sales on comiXology, as they seem to occur fairly frequently.
That's what I would do.

I'm not a big fan of digital comics, since it hurts my eyes after a short time when I read them. I still like physical copies. I mean ultimately its not going to bother me if I don't get to read the stuff,I've gone years without with only a couple of times I've questioned what somethign was about because it was a comic only thing.

Some time ago I completed 'Phase One' of the HC Collection. It started off so well with Simon Furman's -Ations, Spotlights, Megatron: Origin etc and then the quality began to drop. First with McCarthy and later the all time low of Costa (Although Space Opera was a welcome highlight there).

Now as I read exclusively through trades, I accept I am often months to years behind. I'm patient, it doesn't bother me. That said the general chatter I heard around the (then) RiD and MTMTE did concern me.
I've never been a fan of retcons and given how thorough Furman had been in laying down the foundations of the IDWverse, what I was hearing especially with characterisation, had me concerned. Long dead now, but I really liked the idea of Ultra Magnus as "Judge Dredd in Space".

So I bit the bullet and bought Phase Two vol.1, to continue the collection. Although the renumbering does mess with the prior aesthetic of the other books.. But I digress. So after reading that volume, my concerns were justified. So far removed from expectation it wasn't even funny. I actually sold the book on and cut my loses with 'Phase One' vol.8 and left IDWverse behind.
Better to read Origin, the original Spotlights etc than forcing regressive humanising traits on previously established characters and lore.

And that's why for many years, I once more quit Transformers. The second time since Beast Machines ended.

Rodimus Knight wrote:Phase 2 vol 2 on Amazon, and now that I looked again, they want $100 Plus.

A little late but try Book Depository. They are who I bought the IDW Collection from and more often than not the prices are more reasonable than Amazon.

Does anyone else think that a red eyed scowling evil looking Megatron is not really appropriate during a time that Megatron is reformed and trying to gain redemption? But still looking forward to this, the IDW continuity was on it's way toward Dark Cybertron by the time I jumped on so these books are a good way to collect large swaths of the story at once.

So... I was going to get the Dinobot, Drift, and Windblade TPB’s instead of these last three (already have Dark Cybertron from way back when I tried IDW the first time), but I’m not entirely sure. Does anyone that’s read these comics have any thoughts or advice?

If your plan is to have a nice, uniform display, the IDW Collection are great volumes for that sort of thing. I'm more of a trade paperback reader, so would personally recommend the TPBs instead.

By those three you mention, do you mean the collected works for each of those characters? If not, there are recent TPB collections that include pretty much all recent stories about all three (and again, I think that's what you're referring to!).

Yeah, I was referring to the recent/upcoming TPBs. Essentially, I’ve been collecting these big hardcover collections, but I’m considering switching formats to get more of what I like. My question is if there are any good stories in the ongoings that I might like that would make it easier to just continue with the hardcovers.

I know that you’re not really gonna know exactly what I like, but I tend to be on the same boat as the rest of the fandom, if anyone has advice.

Looking into my somewhat faulty crystal ball, I expect the Phase 2, Volume 9 hardcover to be Combiner Wars and Sins of the Wreckers, probably with Redemption and the Windblade II #5-7 issues in there as well. If you've been keeping up through Phase 2, vol 7 (may have been mentioned, I was lazy and didn't click back) I don't see reason to get the other character volumes since most of their material is covered at that point - except for one big reason: Time. Probably a year or a bit longer before Vol 9 comes out.

Okay, so the thing is that I haven’t gotten 6 and 7 yet. I already have Dark Cybertron from a while back, so 6 would only be new with Windblade and 7 seems to be story arcs I don’t really care about too much. I also have collected only parts of phase 1 (namely Furman’s stuff, Last Stand, and Chaos) through different mediums, so this wouldn’t throw things off too much. It’s really all about this: Does Dark Cybertron shake up the ongoings too much, and do I need to read them to understand the Redemption stories and Windblade mini-series?

Hey. So, if anyone is reading this in the future, wondering what conclusion I came to because they have similar questions: I continued with the collections, partially because I realized the Dinobots story arc doesn't come right after Dark Cybertron like I thought it did because I misread something.

This is a little bit weird, but I know I would appreciate a conclusion if I was following old forms because they were discussing something I had a question about.

The IDW Collection just keeps trucking along! With IDW Collection Phase 2 Volume 9 due out in June of this year, we now have the pre-order for the next Volume in the line, Volume 10!

Volume 10 can be found and pre-ordered HERE from Amazon.com and rings up at a $49.99 pricepoint, on par with the past releases. This new volume even has a cover, and it is the combined form of the mighty Torchbearers: Victorion! The cover artwork has been done by Sara Pitre-Durocher, who has become a staple of the newer IDW Collection books.

This volume collects issues #44-45 of The Transformers series, issues #45-49 of More Than Meets The Eye, issues #6-7 of Windblade, the Sins of the Wreckers mini-series, the Combiner Hunters one-shot, and the Holiday Special.

Check out the cover and product description below, and let us know what you think in the comments section below!

On Eukaris, the colonists are more than just robots in disguise--they're whole new breeds of TRANSFORMERS! But while Windblade and Starscream struggle to gain allies on this brave new world, an ancient power seeks to force them off the planet! Plus, Windblade and Chromia team up with Arcee to put an end to the menace of the COMBINER WARS--but will they end each other first?!

In Sins of the Wreckers, the Autobot strategist Prowl is missing, drawn into a familiar web of vengeance and manipulation. The Autobots' darkest secrets are about to be exposed by their greatest human ally.

And, the crew of the Lost Light are caught off guard when a dead friend appears out of the blue. But there's no time for a happy reunion: someone else has found his way onto the ship--someone with the power to tear the crew apart.

Collects issues #44-45 of The Transformers series, issues #45-49 of More Than Meets The Eye, issues #6-7 of Windblade, the Sins of the Wreckers mini-series, the Combiner Hunters one-shot, and the Holiday Special.
