Transformers will always be out of scale g1 ultra Magnus side by side comaprison next to metroplex and bruticus, my Theroy on mp figures there not made to be in scale with transformers series maybe in scale with other mp figures but mp figures are more to adult oriented with higher price rage higher complex transformation more detail, while everything leader class and below is aimed at kids oriented which scale does not matter to kids transformers will never be in scale if that where true they cost more to make buy for fans Tamara gave fans mp series high in detail, price, transformation, but for average collector who plays don't care about scale that is what non mp series is for kids

Right. Because MP Starscream being a few heads taller than MP Prowl or MP Sideswipe is totally not an improvement over Classics Starscream being a couple heads shorter than Universe Prowl or Universe Sideswipe.

But still, he did exist in toyform. Not no hung up over it btw. Just an inference on why chuck waxed nostalgic. Me? Already have the MP version. Btw, also planning to get this sucker........only the Tomy version that is.
I understand wanting to emulate what the old toy did, and I think it would have been cool if the Masterpiece did this, but at the same time, they're going mostly off the cartoon, where Magnus transformed directly from truck to patriotic robot and there was never any indication of a smaller robot in armor. Most fiction has adopted this view, including the IDW comics which Leader Magnus is most heavily based on. Also, I think from an engineering standpoint, it's easier to design something that transforms fluidly from one mode to another without having to worry about separating and combining into armor and stuff, which is important for selling to kids.

On a different note, isn't the Leader class Megatron supposed to come with a sticker sheet? Mine came with a painted Decepticon symbol.

My cars was Malibu...lasted me 15 years and put a lot of miles on it. and I'd rather take that than an overpriced euro car any day. So in other words, it was worth it to me.
There is an analogy in there somewhere.

They'll make Starscream for sure, at the very least. The comics keep teasing that Starscream is in store for yet another body swap.

This. I also prefer IDW Ultra Magnus to Masterpiece Ultra Magnus

You're also factoring in the cost of a $20k vs a $250k car...if someone was offering you one for free or the same price, you'd take the overpriced Euro car any day. In the case of these, the price difference isn't all that great. These leader figs are running like $50 now. MPs can be bought from $45 - $120 these days.

It's rather from 45$ to 200$. That's what MP Ultra Magnus, MP-Asia skywarp, MP Platinum Soundwave and Star Saber cost. And that's without counting shipping.

Also I paid $3k for my car. And yeah, MPs are ridiculous. I got the first MP 01 for $70 and I thought that was high back then. $180? No thanks. It's just not worth it to some of us. To those that it is worth it, that's fine. But some of us are after the toys. Not the expensive collectables.

Yet I find myself a little disappointed. In hand, the arm cannon just doesn't cut it. Feels like a horrendous fail. It's really eating at me.
Other than that, this figure is great. The overall body design is faithful to the comic tank Meg's, and the head sculpt is so spot on, it damn near makes up for the puny cannon.

I am with you here! I just opened mine, and while the head is near perfect, the body is not bad, and the alt mode is awesome, that arm cannon is all kinds of bad. Even turning it around does nothing for me. I'm thinking of coming up with a mod somehow where I can remove the inner barrel, at least while in bot mode...

In the neantime, I hope I can buy the freggin' thing locally at the norml price instead of either having to overpai for it, or being stuck to buy Armada Megs as an extra in a 2 pack.

Why are you jumping in and out of all the bigger toys sizes Generations, Masterpiece and Third party threads. With over Fifty similar bashing hate comments a week, in over Twenty different threads a week?

The lower legs don't bother you? Those big gray pieces kill it for me, along with the cannon. That's why I passed on this.Ironhidensh wrote:He is here.

Throw him a bone tsu. This gives his microcosm of a collectors life some meaning. No MPs, only Voyagers and no crappy Hasbro releases. And anouncing to the world that he still exists.

RP. Don't be too harsh on Megs. Remember how you didn't like Jetfire? I recall you got him on sale. Iirc you now love the mold. Megs too.......really awesome1 I still don't own one but from what I saw of him in box from a local specialty shop.......looks really great. Holding out you the Tomy version (price of the import going just the same rate as the local specialty shops. You won't regret it.

CW Megs has grooves on his arm which I was REALLY hoping lined up with Laserbeak's talon grooves. They do not. I'm gonna like him even better when I get the upgrade kit from DX9! (thanks to TSU for posting about that in the 3P forum)

Well, I didn't think Jetfire was worth $45, and I don't think Megatron is either. I did get Jetfire for $25, thanks to another member here. I like the mold, but more as Thundercracker. As Jetfire, it's acceptable. As for Megatron, I don't know what purpose those big gray pieces serve, but couldn't they be painted at least the same as the lower legs? The gray is just too out of place for me. The cannon I could deal with, but those gray pieces are just too distracting to me. I have yet to see this figure in person, so maybe once I get it in-hand, I might think about it some more. But as it is, it's a pass.fenrir72 wrote:RP. Don't be too harsh on Megs. Exactly this, and I only asked because there really needs to be a Masterpiece Shockwave. That would be an insta-buy for me.

But, Fans Toys Quakewave is a Masterpiece Transformers toy. Years ago it even sold for $130. Which was far less than Takara would have sold a Masterpiece Transformer toy like this.
Fans Toys even tried to match the Quakewave toy to the Sculpting Aesthetics of the HasTak Masterpiece Transformers toy line.
Think Quakewave is such a great Masterpiece update toy. That its going to be hard for Hastak to make a better Masterpiece toy version.

That's debatable. From a legal trademark standpoint, sure. Any toy that transforms from one form to another, and faithfully represents a beloved character though, I would say Is a transformer.
