I know its risking it, but since the Takara one isnt exclusive, there is a good chance it will be available for near 100$ in winter sales later this year from importers. And on the Japanese front, I can already see a lot of people banging their heads when he turns out cheaper than the Hasbro version at the HLJ sale next year (did you see what they are asking for Legends Magnus?!). What I mean to say is that depending on your patience, price may not be the issue you think it is and I can guarantee that people will be purchasing Takara's Computron for less than the initial price of the Hasbro version, like...
Ultra Mad wrote:Price wise, I think the Takara version of this set might not be too expensive. I know that In Canada, with the currency exchange rate and shipping, my preorder of the Takara set is less expensive then my Victorion set I bought at my local Toys R us.
yeah, thats what I did. Hasbro's will locally cost $133 US where I live, with taxes included.
I ordered Takara's from Japan and he came out to $99 US before shipping. Shipping will be around $30 so it comes out to the same cost either way. And they are coming out at the same time too so there is absolutely no reason for me to have to settle for the Hasbro version

I wouldn't bet on that, the pre-orders sold out quick everywhere, this seems to be the combiner and everyone knows it, I'd say grab for as low a cost as you're comfortable with, as soon as you can.

I didn't even notice I did that. I just read the Last Knight thread before responding to that and it carried over. Whoops.
On a side note: If anyone notices this Strafe go up for sale by itself on Ebay or something I'll gladly look into it. I'd like both Strafe's if nothing else

For accuracy: agreeable.
For value, better feet, and price: I wholeheartedly disagree with you.
Also I never liked G1 cartoon Comp's colorscheme much. The Hasbro one has better colors and isn't as boring.

And I disgree with you. Takara's Computron will cost me the same amount if I buy him from Japan than if I buy the Hasbro version from BBTS. It might cost you less depending on how much shipping you pay, but the price for both in their respective markets is THE SAME.
And as for value, that is definitely off. Hasbro has 3 straight up redecos out of the 5 main bots. Every single Takara couterpart is retooled. There are 5 new headsculpts. Scattershot has a retooled chest for both the combiner chest and his robot mode chest. Plus the Takara version has new weapons. You dont seem to have factored that in the value, but you should have if you were being fair. You get as much new stuff with Takara as with Hasbro if not more.

Considering you live in New York, I would consider TFsource: http://tfsource.com/transformers-unite/computron/
Now, at first glance he does seem like $30 more, but factoring in shipping it is about if not a bit less than ami ami, which had given me shipping quotes no cheaper than $50 and i live a state below you. Plus, all you need to do is throw in a transformer that is $15.01 or greater in price and you get free shipping (which for me got me a Roadbuster for $19)

Scattershot: When I look at the alt mode, that shade of red-violet clashes pretty badly with the red. But overall, not horrible.
Can these be the correct colors when the one I returned to the store was much more simple, with a silver gun?
Strafe: Alt mode looks good enough, but the bot could be another character... The red and orange face just look so weird.
Nosecone: This is just a complete joke imo... The alt mode just looks silly-- It's a tank with a drill bit instead of a canon, and only half of the drill can reach anything in front of it. The tank would run into anything the drill's trying to cut through. This bot mode is probably the worst of the group imo. It's just a hot mess. Looks like a knock-off of a knock-off.
Afterburner: The alt mode has a bit too much red. If those red parts were orange, the white, black and even green windshield wouldn't bother me. Bot mode isn't bad, but I don't like the red lower legs.
Lightspeed: bot mode-- all I see when I look at him is Streetwise with a new paintjob. If the lightbar wasn't so obvious in the alt mode, it would be fine... I look at that and it almost looks like a hairbow to me. Hello Kitty is probably driving this thing.
Scrounge: He's fine I guess. I'm not really impressed by either mode though.
Computron: The huge fushia chestplate and mouthplate are just bad. The feet look a little too much like the tops of rocky cliffs.
I'd re-name this Mish-Mashutron. This may sound harsh, but Scrounge on the shoulder just looks stupid and unnecessary.
The best part of this is the new hands... Not exactly saying much.

Almost certainly not going to change anyone's opinion on it (the bot mode is still the worst most unfitting thing for a character since... Just about anything), but I don't quite enjoy seeing decisions made upon incorrect information.

Here we are. Still not that great and it worked better for Botcon Ramhorn, but it's at least better than slapping the drill in the same place Brawl had his gun.

As for HasbroTron, I don't hate it. UW is clearly better, but for some reason I still find him charming. I really can't put my finger on it, but maybe it's because they're so drastically different I can justify having both (better than I could UW and CW Superion for example). Owning Quantron might effect my feeling too, whereas if neither excite me I still have a tried and true backup. Either way, I'm happy to have all three
As for those upset about Hasbro's torso and head, this is still a perfectly viable solution:

Hasbro's Computron could easily be repurposed in our collections as "Betatron." I've already got alternate names for the limb bots picked out for my own head cannon.

I'm interested in Hasbro's Nosecone the most, simply because he'd fit right in among the likes of Alpha Bravo with CW Optimus Prime. I just wish we had a blue "jet" and a red Emergency vehicle...

WJ88, maybe he's factoring in Scrounge and No One (Payload) as being more value than the added weapons? I know I would. Two more transforming bots? Score!
(For the record, I'll be getting both Hasbro and Takara. They are, indeed, enough different.)
[Edit] Though to be fair to the above, one transforms into a wheel.

Oh I know he was counting those but he wasnt counting all the new tooling and the new heads in the UW version. Thats why I said that both sets equally have the same amount of new stuff not available in the other set. One has new tooling and new heads and new guns and the other one has more toys and the new hands and feet.

Yeah, it does. As someone else already said, if the hands and feet are the best things going for a combiner that's not a good thing. I have loved every minute of Combiner Wars, but this is just a bad set. Lightspeed doesn't even look like they finished painting him.
Kurona wrote:Just saying, but the Nosecone alt mode in those pictures is incorrect. According to official Hasbro pictures the drill should be attached to the back of the 'tank' rather than the front of the turret. It should only be attached to the turret in leg mode.
