Each scout-sized figure, known as a Commander, comes with a mini-con that transforms into a robot, vehicle, weapon and armor for any Power Core Commander. The line so far consists of: Huffer with Mini-Con Caliburst, Smolder w/ Chopster, Searchlight w/ Backwind, Icepick w/Chainclaw, and Leadfooter w/Pinpoint. Also included are two 5-figure combiners, Bombshock who homages Bruticus and Skyblast who homages Superion. Any Commander can combine with the limbs and has one head for seperate play, and a different head while combined.
Check out these videos and check back soon for image updates!
UPDATE: Seibertron has now posted his galleries of these figures along with many many more. See them all here!

As for the figures, there is nothing that I'm really excited about yet. Time will tell I suppose.
By the way, it is 'whet' not 'wet' your appetite. For whatever that's worth.

Is "type" a typo for "typo"?
I like the idea of these figures more than the execution. The red and blue knobs sticking out are an eyesore and I really don't like that transparent plastic. Plus the combined modes of the Bruticus and Superion dudes look terrible. But I'll probably cave and get them anyway!

I think the ROTF line will eventually drop the "Revenge of the Fallen" subheading and evolve into two different sublines: one featuring Movie-related characters called "Hunt for the Decepticons", and another featuring new generic characters that is composed of these "Power Core Combiners".Fires_Of_Inferno wrote:I like what I'm seeing. At first I thought these Power Core guys were going to be under the movie-verse line but doesn't look like it from the packaging or the figures' apperance. Are they going to be part of the Universe line, the War for Cybertron line, or are they kinda just making these for the hell of it?
Although, the figures that seem to belong with Classics/Universe toylines wil be in a different toyline called "Transformers: Generations".

Although it is disappointing not to have robot modes for the drones, maybe you should look at it from another perspective. The drones can combine with any Power Core Combiner "scout"(size I've seen mentioned) and beef them up, enhance they're robot mode. Also don't forget every "scout" has a separate head, just for the combination. AND the "minicons" make weapons, and "armor" for the figures. A lot of fun and playability IMHO.
Separate note, anyone seen a picture of the armor the "minicons" add yet?

Comon Hasbro, dont cheap out by going down in quality please (unless its for saving up for some goodies we have been asking for, if so, please continue )

Same goes for the new scouts too, but I've mostly passed on those for ROTF as well.

nothing much to get excited about - lookin forward to the generations stuff - one thing that's bothering me bout this range is the decepticon fire truck.. seems wrong or perhaps the ultimate disguise...

Yes, I do like the fact that they can combine in various ways.
Yes, I do like the idea of the spring loaded transformation.
But it's not enough. The figures are ugly, the combined modes are just awful and the drones not having robot modes is just icing on the cake of crap.
Hasbro did not win me over, here.

Wow, you read my mind.
My opinion, Hasbro's Transformers lines are all over the place. Might be a Star Wars year for me in 2010. The AT AT and Vintage lines are great.

Smolder w/ Chopster - Firetruck
Huffer w/ Caliburst - yellow Truck
Searchlight w/ Backwind - Helicopter
Leadfoot w/ Pinpoint (wave 2, new minicon mold) - Rallycar
Sledge w/ Throttle (Wave 2, new minicon mold) - Bucket Scoop
Icepick w/ Chainclaw (Wave 2, new minicon mold) Arctic ATV
In Seibertrons gallery (which is awesome BTW) it shows Searchlight on the floor with a green Caliburst, which I'm sure is just there as a place holder for Backwind. But who does the green one go to? Also, whoever set up Sledge make him look awful when really, his stock photo looks pretty good. Looks like his Minicon turns into a drill to go with his construction vehicle theme. I think what were seeing when we look at Sledge is a mix between his Gestalt Mode (head), vehicle mode (chest and arms) and robot mode (legs). I really don't like the hands on Leadfoot, but I like his minicon because he looks like the old targetmaster Pinpointer.
EDIT: Same thing goes for Icepick. Head is his combiner mode head, when compared to official stock image of scout figure.
Over all, I gotta say I don't like the look of this so far. Here's hoping somewhere halfway down the line we see Deluxe figures merging with scouts again. These PCCs almost have it right... almost.

Yes! Exactly! That's a perfect example of how bad these really are. Even though I like the Energon line (more specifically, the Autobots), even I can say that Energon Optimus has glaring issues. Even then, he's still 10 times more awesome than this trainwreck of crap.

Like a lot of others here I can't get past the fact that the limbs do not have robot modes. The whole Drone idea just sucks, simple as that. I really don't have an issue with the size, I mean the Energon combiners were all scouts with a deluxe core, but the fact that the limbs are non-transforming drones that are legends sized holds absolutely no interest for me. Epic Fail Hasbro!!!

I don't think the 2 pack Combiners look too bad. Honestly, the worst aspect for me has to be Leadfoot and Icepick's hands. Leadfoot's hands are slightly better (since they really come off as claw-like), but I'm not a huge fan of Ice Pick's hands. Seems kind of lazy. Plus I'm not sure where you can attach his mini-con as a gun. You can see where Leadfoot's mini-con can attach to his wrist. Can't say the same for Ice Pick.
All in all, I love mini-cons, so I won't hesitate to buy the 2 packs. Not a fan of the combined robots we've seen thus far. Bruticus looks ok, but Superion is anorexic. I also wish they had better defined hands and feet (something G1 combiners actually have).
EDIT: Looks like Icepick is designed to use his mini-con as a shoulder weapon.

I really don't like the idea of them being mindless drones, I hate the idea, honestly.
That being said, the least they could've done for us is give us limbs that actually LOOK like limbs.
Hasbro really dropped the ball here, badly. Instead of these ugly claw and hook monstrosities we're receiving, they could've, at the very least, given us limbs that are not only fully functional and actually look like arms and legs, but have them be super detailed, full of awesome spring loaded gimmicks like flip out missle launchers and arm mounted gatling guns, but no....
They gave us the Energon Combiner syndrome all over again. At least with those, you could turn your brain inside out giving them alternate transformations to rig up some kind of humanoid design. These...they make the Energon Combiners look like Masterpiece level designs.

I mean seriously claw hands again?.
If the limbs don't have robot-modes they could have atleast given them hands instead of claws. That said they don't look bad and I might pick one up.
the combaticon type one seems to have last minute remolding to his head, look at his face, it has putty on it so that it kinda resembles a battlemask.

I caught that too. I guess the mold wasn't complete yet
Posted by MPollard on February 15th, 2010 @ 5:58pm CST
Appearance is the real poor part here. Normal combiners have an excuse for the poor appearance, because you are effectively merging five separate characters, complete with discrete color schemes, into a single figure. Since these aren't separate characters, but effectively parts of the same character, they should coordinate better. You should have an idea just by looking at a drone whose drone he is. By color scheme, not just by a theme that another combiner may also use.
I like the idea of micromaster combiners around a scout core, but they need to work harder. Hasbro's efforts are starting to look G2, that is, second rate compared to the original. So long as they don't introduce pretenders with "life-like flexible shells!" :VOMIT:

A little odd the new gestalts are rebranded with new names, not that that's ever stopped anyone. I bet Hasbro was just tired of a certain 3rd party stomping on their faces using the old less-articulated molds they re-released

They are indeed. The main vehicle in both sets is clearly on the same level as Bombshock and whatever the crap they're calling Silverbolt now.
You can clearly see their companions are nothing more than empty drones.

If the ROTF designs are criticised, we're supposed to shut up, becuase after all, the TFs are supposed to look like they are aliens. Well, here's what presumes to be a main line of figures and they look like aliens, but that's not ok? Those hideous Arcee bikes are cool, all snake like and assinine, but it's fine cause TFs are aliens so shouldn't have to look like humans/humanoids. If that logic is hammered for ROTF toys, then it should be applicable to these as well. We want to discuss monstrosities??? The Arcee abominations are the physical manifestation of the nightmares of Heironymous Bosch. What the fuck do they combine into, the Hydra? Fuck ing let me sever their heads and cauterize their neckholes so we can be finished with this unholy Arcee fetish which accepts such a load of plastic vomit as a passable toy.
And for those who will lambast me for disparaging those terrors, and chastise me with the idea that those stupid motorcycles combine, the entire point of these figures apparently is their combination abilities. Are they beautiful, like a summer morning with your most beloved as viewed through a prism which, though it splits light into its component spectrum rays, shows the perfection and beauty of harmonious existance? Hell no. But, they're supposed to be aliens, remember, and if that's a defense for those garish ROTF abortions then it is suitable for these monsters as well.

For starters, I'm not ranting. I didn't mean any kind of anger or whatever you've decided my post was full of. I wasn't very far outside of the lines you've established with all of your "hook and claw monstrosity" comments of earlier, so I can't really see how an opposite view from yours, written in the same fashion, is so inflammatory to you.
And, once more, I'm not bashing ROTF as much as expressing my opinion that I am entitled to. Again, not far out of your own chosen realm, expressing your dislike of Energon Prime and the Energon Combiners, which you are frequently outspoken against.
And seeing as I'm clearly the only person in your estimate who is bashing ROTF and clearly, the worst offender at that, please, please forgive me. Your opinions obviously never tread on or against anyone elses. Boy, I'm a real jag, aren't I, for having my own opinion?
You don't like the toys from Energon. Fine. I'm not telling you to stop with the Energon bashing, am I? Geez. Maybe you should take the pill and finally realize that the rest of us get opinions too, even if they go against yours. It's all well and good while you're giving your peace, but then it's a travesty for someone who disagrees to say theirs?

Yes, I even love Optimus. All I said was that I acknowledge that there are glaring problems in both Optimus and the Maximus combiner sets, but that doesn't say that I hate them. If I did, I wouldn't have them in my collection, nor would I have bought the FansProject upgrades for them.
I also said that even with their issues, they outshine the PCC line.

Think about this for a moment... Each 'Commander' has the capability of becoming the torso of a gestalt, that can use any combination of limb drones. Your custom gestalt can now use any of the weapon and armor minicons to make your gestalt even more unique.
How many waves will be out by the holidays? Let's say the series launches in july with a new wave every month after that. that's six waves. If every other wave has a new autobot and decepticon gestalt, that will be 6 sets of 4 drone limbs, 12 arms and 12 legs, as well as 6 torsos. Lets say each wave also consists of 4 duo's. Over 6 waves that will be an additional 24 torso's and 24 'multitools'.
What do we have so far... 30 torsos, 12 arms, 12 legs, and 24 multitools. It is Hasbro, so we have to assume that 2/3's of these will be repaints. So our adjusted 'unique' numbers are 10 torsos, 4 arms, 4 legs, and 8 multitools.
Those look low to me, but we'll continue.
Pick a Torso, 2 Arms, 2 Legs, 1 Armor and 2 Weapons [duel wielding rules] 10 x 4 x 3 x 4 x 3 x 8 x 7 x 6 = 483,840.
The numbers don't lie. Your gestalt, using 100% unique molds, armed and armored, has nearly a 1 in half a million chance of being replicated by another... and that's before the repaints which will put the 'unique to you alone' numbers in the multiple millions.
Using these numbers and wave assortments, come the holidays, it is possible for the majority of the dedicated fandom to have a gestalt entirely unique to each individual.
That is the definition of Win... at least in my book.
ps- If OP and Megs are Headmasters...
