The now famous TFyuki has taken to Twitter once again with a new tease of Transformers Legends Black Convoy alongside RID series comrades Gelshark (SkyByte) and TAV-08 Gregevor (possibly a homage to Ruination's Rollbar). He'll be a Tokyo Toy Show 2015 exclusive alongside Legends Armada Megatron, and is very reminiscent of the 2014 Collector Club's Scourge.

And if that weren't enough we have another Black Convoy (of sorts) lighting up Twitter today, E-Hobby Unite Warriors Grand Scourge! He's shown squaring off against Transformers Masterpiece MP-10 Convoy (Optimus Prime) who has a Reissue due the end of this June. To see the pics simply look below, and stay tuned to Seibertron.com for all your Transformers News!

I never actually got this deluxe mold for optimus prime, so getting Black Convoy would be a TREAT!

Btw I just started collecting like a year ago so I have HUNDREDS OF FIGURES TO GET! SO DON"T JUDGE ME FOR NOT HAVING THIS MOLD YET! >:(

Honestly, it depends on the price... but I can see Black Convoy costing more than what TFCC Scourge currently commands (on the secondary market).

Takara's Black Convoy seems to instead just have solid gray (or bizarrely gray and silver) shoulders instead of gray and black.

I will admit that Takara's has the extra stripes on the side of the truck mode, but it's not a major loss. Nor are the Combatron symbols on his shoulder that much of a bonus since the guy never had those on him outside of scenes toward the end of the series where he was trying to control Fort Max/Brave Max.

And the bright neon teal of Scourge seems to stand out a lot more than the more muted teal on Black Convoy. In fact, while it could just be the image, all of the colors on Black Convoy seem more muted compared to Scourge's colors.
I'm kinda OK with the Takara version, as it'll be cheaper for me to import here than the club version, and I like the extra red accents around the shoulders

Grand Scourge shall team up with Alpha Bravo, Offroad, Rook and some future 4th other character to form a combiner all their own!

I shall call call the combined form: Outcast.

Lookit this.

If patient, you can get a TFCC Scourge for about 50 bucks. With the history of Japanese Con exclusive figures have (and I think BC will be popular) I really feel that once it's all said and done he'll cost about 100.

Of course there's time. If you wait, and find that BC is too expensive, Scourge will still be there. I'm not trying to institute panic here

Every version of that mold has light piping, even TFSS Scourge.

The Scourge version just covered up the shoulder's translucent plastic to make the figure better resemble the character it's meant to represent, since Scourge/Black Convoy did not have red streaks running down his shoulders, but instead had gray ones:

His eyes still have light piping, though.

Hm. Kinda like the US version better. But it's not like there's a big difference.

Hopefully this will push Maketoys to release their Battle Tanker as an accessory for this. They have their own Scourge, but I just want the trailer part.

yeuch
US to Aus dollar atm is not in my favour
US$50 atm is about ~AU$65 with transaction fees, and that's before postage costs, and if I wanted MIB, that's closer to AU$100
JPY3870 is about AU$40, plus shipping, but being physically closer to Japan, postage costs are usually a little less.

So, that's where my money's going atm.... eventually.

TKyuki has jumped the shark! Errr... no wait.. Black Convoy is riding a Gelshark! Hisashi Yuki, who we've come to know and love as Twitter user TFyuki has brought us some more shots of the Transformers Legends figure, alongside the G1 and Armada Megatrons. Thoughbe reminded, Armada Megatron and Black convoy will be Tokyo Toy Show 2015 Exclusives. But Seibertron will keep its ear to the ground for when and where these will be available, so visit often and join us in the Energon Pub for some great discussion!

I dont see the point of black convoy because the TFCC version already exists. Anybody who wanted Scourge from that mold (including people from Japan) already have it. Calling a figure "exclusive" in the age of online sales is a joke. They need to let it go already. Just call it a 2nd run with minor paint app changes.

X... do you just hate for the sake of hating? How could a different version of this figure being released to a different group of people POSSIBLY upset you?

Rated X wrote:I dont see the point of black convoy because the TFCC version already exists.
By that reasoning, why does Takara release ANY Transformers whatsoever? Everyone in the world should just buy the Hasbro ones off the internet?

Rated X wrote:Anybody who wanted Scourge from that mold (including people from Japan) already have it.
So EVERY SINGLE PERSON who wanted a Black Convoy/Scourge bought one when TFCC released theirs? Yeah. I'm sure. >:oP

Rated X wrote:Calling a figure "exclusive" in the age of online sales is a joke.
Exclusive means limited production numbers. Not that it's unattainable.

Rated X wrote:They need to let it go already. Just call it a 2nd run with minor paint app changes.
It's not a second run. Takara didn't make the first one. TFCC did. Completely different entities.

In the age of online sales, there is no “different group of people”. When you release a figure, you release it to the world. Every online retailer and their mother has them for sale. (Hence Takara Unite Defensor gift set)

shajaki wrote:By that reasoning, why does Takara release ANY Transformers whatsoever? Everyone in the world should just buy the Hasbro ones off the internet?

In another thread, I stated I believe Hasbro versions only exist to justify Takara’s continued pricey existence for an imaginary market. They all come from the same mold that isn’t even located in Japan. 25 cents worth of extra paint apps and the price doubles. A unified worldwide release would be the ethical solution, but it would not be a profitable one. All this “exclusive” hype is an attempt to make people sell their TFCC Scourge and get the same thing with a bit more light piping and no G2 faction logo. Serious black Prime collectors pay big bucks to get them in every Prime mold. Anybody in Japan who wanted this mold in black already has the TFCC version. Takara is getting greedy here. The reissue should be $29.99 like any other Takara deluxe figure.

shajaki wrote: So EVERY SINGLE PERSON who wanted a Black Convoy/Scourge bought one when TFCC released theirs? Yeah. I'm sure. >:oP

There’s still some on e-bay so I imagine the die hards all got theirs. The TFCC version was the real exclusive. This is a slightly modified reissue being dubbed an “exclusive” for pure profit. Im not saying every TF collector has this mold in black, I’m just saying the hardcore black Prime collectors already do.

shajaki wrote: Exclusive means limited production numbers. Not that it's unattainable.

Whats so limited about a reissue minus a few paint apps ? Remember the Asia Exclusive Hot/Rod/Galvatron/Cyclonus repaint set ? Hasbro removed Galvy and slapped rub signs on the other two and shipped em straight to US retail. How exclusive was that ?

shajaki wrote:You don't always get under my skin X, I usually just chuckle at your absurdity. But Jesus man, get a grip.

I think Takara needs to get a grip. The brick and mortar days of exclusives are over. Gone are the Botcon seeker days when snobby collectors got offended when their “exclusive” saw a mass release. Internet sales destroyed the concept of “exclusives” and honestly I’m glad that happened.

Have you never heard of a little thing called shipping fees? Or how about import duty? Not all of us can just buy everything from another country whenever we feel like it.

In another thread, I stated I believe Hasbro versions only exist to justify Takara’s continued pricey existence for an imaginary market.

This is tripe. Japan has an enormous collector's market, and the toy market over there is highly, highly competitive. If Takara DIDN'T make their figures more "collector friendly" they wouldn't be able to compete. Hasbro, meanwhile, sells most of its wares in a very different market that on the whole values quantity over quality. Paint apps actually add a lot of expense to the production of a toy, as metal paint masks have to be cut in order to apply the paint (and that's not even beginning to mention worker's salaries).

They all come from the same mold that isn’t even located in Japan. 25 cents worth of extra paint apps and the price doubles.

See above. Extra paint apps are not cheap.

A unified worldwide release would be the ethical solution, but it would not be a profitable one.

What is "logistics"? What is "licensing"? What is "different markets/safety standards"? And before you hit me with that "the market in Japan is exactly the same as the US!" bullsh*t again, if that's the case then why don't we see things like Soul of Chogokin or Figma coming from US manufacturers?

All this “exclusive” hype is an attempt to make people sell their TFCC Scourge and get the same thing with a bit more light piping and no G2 faction logo. Serious black Prime collectors pay big bucks to get them in every Prime mold. Anybody in Japan who wanted this mold in black already has the TFCC version. Takara is getting greedy here. Japan doesn't have the TFCC. This is the first release of that mold in Scourge colours in Japan. Importing into Japan is expensive so naturally a domestic release- even an exclusive one- is preferable to Japanese fans.

shajaki wrote: So EVERY SINGLE PERSON who wanted a Black Convoy/Scourge bought one when TFCC released theirs? Yeah. I'm sure. >:oP

Yeah, I LOVE exclusives that I can't buy locally. I LOVE paying 10-30-50$ of shipping fees for a single figure. I LOVE paying an extra 25-35$ custom fees for EXCLUSIVE figures.

Target just gave up Canada. They had really neat exclusives that were reasonably priced. Not anymore. Now I have to buy them from scalpers. Sure, I can still buy them. But X, lemme tell you that it suck a lot to pay double, triple, or quadruple the price for a figure that would have been available locally.

So, yeah. Exclusivities still exist hardcore. And the price suck.

Takara isn't expensive by virtue of being Takara; it's the costs associated with bringing stock into the states en masse. You really don't understand how importing a figure jacks up the cost.

Takara deluxes aren't $29.99 in Japan - they're close to $10-$15. I imagine TFCC Scourge was expensive for folks in Japan to import, so why hate on their chance to own this? Outside of the fact that some people in the States (like me) might prefer the metallic highlights over the matte teal.

A gift that never stops giving. You call out TT and Hasbro for their "unethical" practices. Fine. What about the 3rd party makers for their overpriced no royalties paid to Hasbro/TT homaged products? Is that a different animal? Different standards for two profit driven capitalists?

3rd party makers don't release their homages out of the kindness of their hearts? AND, all of their stuff also made in China. Why the price mark up? Okay, Hasbro/TT can do bulk orders. That's the difference but really. ETHICS?

Maybe some of us needs a dose of the "C" word. The dirty "C" word that runs the world (except for Cuba, North Korea and Venezuela)

Capitalism:

: an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market

Examples of CAPITALISM

Capitalism is at once far too rational, trusting in nothing that it cannot weigh and measure, and far too little as well, accumulating wealth as an end in itself. —Terry Eagleton, Harper's, March 2005
The United States has assumed a global burden—not just fighting terrorism and rogue states, but spreading the benefits of capitalism and democracy … —Brian Urquhart, New York Review Of Books, 9 Oct. 2003
The city was then the great maw of American capitalism. —Christopher Hitchens, Atlantic, August 2002
I am not the first to point out that capitalism, having defeated Communism, now seems to be about to do the same to democracy. The market is doing splendidly, yet we are not, somehow. —Ian Frazier, On The Rez, 2000
Even Cuba's famed health-care system has been unable to resist the siren song of capitalism. The Frank Pais Hospital … now offers “for pay” surgery to foreigners. —Ann Louise Bardach, Vanity Fair, March 1995

Okay I've had enough of this crap.

You either discuss Takara Tomy Legends figures or you take whatever topic you want to discuss to its own specific thread.

Getting real sick and tired of some of the shit from a couple of you that should know better.

Takara's Armada Megatron looks so good that I might feel tempted to go for it. But then again, it's not a figure I really want that much anyway, so I'm torn.

Robuts make me go nuts!

Takara's Armada Megatron is tempting, capturing the look of the character a little better with some rearranged paint apps, but why did they skimp on the orange highlights on his antlers? We can't even swap them with the Hasbro version, as those are completely orange on the final product. There's no way to achieve a "perfect" version without doing some after market paint modifications. Yeesh.

I was wondering that too. I really like Takara's Armadatron, and he'd be puuurfect with a little orange on the antlers. It's a shame really :-(

I can live without the orange on his horns since the gray was always the more important color of the two.
