And yeah at one point, back in 2007, I too was sucked into similar conversations.
Just figured by now that would be a buried horse.
Almost as funny as this forum member who seriously attacked me and others about how stupid it was to speculate/discuss Hasbro ever releasing deluxe-sized seekers since they had been at Botcon...
Boy, he showed us... We were all IDIOTS!!!!
Anyway, just wanted to voice my surprise that people haven't been more excited about the Unite Warriors Stunticons...
I know it's not new news.
However, most of those characters haven't been given solid, non-exclusive or non-third-party dues as figures.
Offroad isn't a Sunticon, and imo, the deco's of the Unite versions are much much better.
Motormaster and Dragstrip alone were enough for me to buy.
Again, just my opinion, but Hasbro's Dragstrip is not good... The yellow-orange is not great, and the red-violet is just too much... I think I may have been okay if it were true purple... But when you look at that color (which I would almost call "Raspberry) next to purple,
again, I just can't stand it. It almost looks like it's a mistake.
Anyone else agree that this set is better than Hasbro's offerings and worth the extra $$$?
If you don't own one then go for it. If you already have the Hasbro ver, well do a "Two-face" if you can't decide.
As of right now I'm not getting any of the Autobots (except for Hotspot),
so I'm getting both versions of the Stunticons... Already pre-ordered the Unite Warriors version.
Speaking of which:
Is there any word on the packaging for the Unite Warriors line?
Or when we might see it??

Yeah, the trend is to show the packaging near the end of the month prior to release.

Okay, so next question:
Think the Stunticons will be packaged in alt modes as well???

With such being the case with the Airbots, I don't see why the Stuntrons wouldn't.Sowndwave76 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:We've seen Superion's packaging - http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/takaratomy-transformers-unite-warriors-uw01-superion-in-box/32997/Sowndwave76 wrote:Is there any word on the packaging for the Unite Warriors line?

Hmmmmm.... This will probably affect whether or not I keep them MISB...
Would've been more likely to do this if they were in bot modes.
Well, I haven't opened any of my Hasbro Stunticons yet...

I could see why people would say this, but I personally really prefer when the figures resemble the cartoon versions as closely as possible.
I don't think any of the Hasbro versions look bad, except for Dragstrip.
I also think the UW vehicle modes look quite a bit better; cleaner, and again, more cartoon accurate.

Released by Hasbro Asia or through Amazon jp?

Who makes/releases them can be a crap-shoot, but its usually either an Amazon or Hasbro Asia thing.mooncake623 wrote:hmm... you're right Japan did make coins, completely forgot about Fort Max, but was it an Amazon.jp thing? Maybe each of the UW releases will be getting a Masterpiece coin. However, I still don't see Devastator being sold as six individual robots when the rest of the line so far has stuck to the gift set scheme.
Haha! I thought of that too. To be honest, this superion is really closer to a portrayal of the G1 cartoon rather than an homage or update like a lot of the classics line was so maybe they see this as a masterpiece. Does this mean we wouldnt get MP combiners down the line then?

The issue with using the Unite Warriors molds as "Masterpiece" stand-ins for the combiners doesn't work in terms of scale, though. Superion will look a little silly next to Masterpiece Ultra Magnus at the very least. Takara has been trying hard to keep scale consistent with the Masterpiece line after rebooting with MP-10 Convoy. On the other paw, doing properly scaled and engineered combiners may be cost-prohibitive for retail, especially for a niche collector oriented sub line. Maybe Takara doesn't plan to do "real" MP combiners, so they figured United Warriors is "it", or nothing.

Second that. If you all recall during an interview with the MP UM team, one consideration was that it (costs)won't break the bank.

The figures might be Generations style, but the coin might be 'Masterpiece'.
Perhaps such a coin is what led to the Devy MP rumor?
Posted by shajaki on June 10th, 2015 @ 6:57am CDT
I had actually thought of all the points above when I first saw the coin, but kinda dismissed it. But Megsy here? I think he hit the nail on the head. The "inside guy" saw a Devy coin labelled Masterpiece and ran running to the interwebs.megatronus wrote:I think it's reasonable to consider the coin apart from the toy.

I only have wheeljack's so far and I didnt even realize I bought that version when I did. Dont know if you'll agree or find me nuts, but I preffer the holder ot the coin itself.

Whaaaa? That is definitely a -level price.
Are you talking about the crown piece in the gold foil casing that came with the flame sword for the 30th anniversary, or something else?

Nope, I have the fire thingy and not-coin, but its different. I'm not sure if it was the first TT reissue, or that Asia Con reissue right after, but one of them was released with an actual coin. It's this half-butted slow-reveal stuff this is a huge pet peeve for me. We know just about everything about this guy as far as the interwebs can tell us and still you get a 'tease'. At least Superion and the others had some new thing about them. This is just a photocopy monstrocity.

Really, really, really hope that teaser picture isn't actually Takara Tomy's Devastator, because if it is it'll have more in common with the Hasbro retail version than the SDCC version (obviously the photo is very silhouetted, but you can tell there are no additional decals on Scavenger's vehicle mode, no purple waist on Devastator, no black treads on Bonecrusher, no extra decal on Devastator's waist). So hopefully they just grabbed a photo of the Hasbro retail version for this silhouette teaser and this isn't actually their version.

True enough, yet my mighty nerdrage continues. The SDCC version won't be on my shopping list. It's going to be either Takara or Hasbro, depending on price and motivation. I'm HEAVILY purging my collection in favor of Japanese bricks, so new stuff has to be priced right.
