Heh. It appears that the entire bot form is contained within the trailer. The cab may not be needed at all. Maybe that solves the butt-flap issue for some people? Image

[Edit] Well, maybe not the head....

Probably SL: UM since, while both it and the Titanium came out in 2007, the comic came out in January of that year.

I raise the question based on the almost similar TF sequence MP UM has to Titanium UM.

But aren't toys engineered/designed like at least a year in advance of them even going into production, much less actually being available on store shelves? At least that's what I've heard from interviews and such, although of course it may be different in this case since (I don't think) Has/Tak actually designed this one (it was the Micromachines guys or something, right?). If so, then that would put the toy at least a year before the comics, and while I'm certain some level of advance planning goes into the comics, I sincerely doubt those guys are planning this stuff a year ahead unless it's some kind of major arc for the entire series or something.

I was answering the question in regards to "Which was released first?" rather than "Which was conceived first?" since the former is easier to deduce than the latter.

And yes, Galoob made the Titaniums instead of Hasbro.

It's the little things like this that make this so special. That they went this extra mile of swapping out the functional wheels for the vehicle mode with the cartoon-accurate wheels for the robot mode in order to both keep the toy from slipping around on roller skates and adhere to the cartoon design to the nth degree is really impressive.

Yeah, I see. It still seems amusing though (a bit like the Voyager DOTM Prime, who has a fake window chest that...covers up his existing window chest...)

Still beats the original Legends Jazz and his amazing roof-grille...

Based on the proto pics, his feet are die-cast. Good for the base balance but paint chipping nightmare in the future.

I'm sure the diecast in the body is strategically placed, but I'm always wary of it. Diecast in the feet is great - it helps ground the figure. But the diecast in the body has the potential to really put him off balance... hopefully those hip joints are hella tight.

US is the only country that still uses the english system, isn't it? I think not even England uses it anymore...come on guys, decimal units are easier to remember, please drop it, as an engineering student, having two different units systems and one being so arbitrary sucks :( :BANG_HEAD:

It's really not about whether it's arbitrary based, it's really about the weird conversion factors. How much inches being a yard still puzzles me till this very day (yet I hear them two together in every football game). Same goes foot and mile, Oz and Pint, fl. Oz and gallon etc etc.

I believe UM is getting a hasbro release, but as the way it went for Prowl, I doubt the price difference will be worth the wait and/or the potential quality issues.

Were there quality issues with Hasbro's MP Prowl? I hadn't heard anything to that effect, so I'm curious.

The more I see this mold, the less I like it, between the thin looking shin plates just hovering there, the skidplate covering his skidplate, and the 100% G1 accurate but does not look like a trailer trailer is making me reach for my RID1.0 Magns for my Autocarrier duties. and PRID Mags for simple play value. A shame, I liked thismold at first and wanted a Titanium Magns since, well, Titanims Magnus, bt this isn't doing what I hoped so I wait for Star Saber.

Is it okay to infer that with the exception of DonFig whose TF art were techincally transform capable, the SL UM version must have been THEN based on the upcoming Titanium UM?

I raise the question based on the almost similar TF sequence MP UM has to Titanium UM.

The Titanium 6 inch series were all designed by Don Fig.

But Spotlight UM wasn't based on Tits UM, the artist for that issue was/is a member on here and we had an interview with him once many moons ago. He then said he would answer any question we asked him in the interview's thread and so I asked him a few things like the size for Scorponok etc, I also asked whether or not there's a smaller robot inside UM or not, his answer was that he designed him to not have a smaller robot in him so that he transforoms directly from alt to the robot mode we all know and love from the toon.

So it's more a coincidence that two designs came out the same year that did something similar. The artist also wasn't big enough to get insider information from others that worked on the series, Spotlight UM was literally his first full TF comic he did, and it was before Hasbro took a large interest in the idw comics.

The only designs that were shared between toys and comics at the time was Classics Jetfire, because Don Fig was friends with the toy's designer and liked the design so much he used it for the comics, and Tits The Fallen sharing idw Megatron's design, because both were designed by Don Fig, who hated Pat Lee enough to not want any of his designs (like The Fallen) make it to plastic form.

Edit, sorry I found the interview, turns out that I did not ask about ultra Magnus having a smaller robot inside or not, that was part of the actual interview, sorry. Also, it seems like the interview was the victim of one of the board wipes we're plagued with far too often. It's missing the original thread and, its date claims it's older than my membership on this site, weird. Oh well, it is ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooold.
