Definitely one of the best Megatrons I've seen in years, althro with that cannon it looks like he is trying to compensate for something.

It can be collapsed in to shorten it.

Crud! I wish I knew how Motormaster and the Legends got out so early. I can't cancel my pre-order from Robot Kingdom so I'm stuck waiting. Then again Murphy's Law, I order them then they come in stock at RK.

They sacraficed the iconic shape of megatrons arm cannon to make it a stupid tank barrel. They should have just included a seperate arm cannon and made the tank barrel fold up along his back somehow to emulate G1 Megatrons gun barrel. Then they could have kept it silver. Parts intragration has ruined yet another figure.

His actual fusion cannon, as demonstrated by Takara photographers, is located on the other end of the cannon. Just flip it around, and you're golden.

Entertainment Earth is where I got them from.

I also have them on order from Robot Kingdom and at BBTS. My solution nowadays is basically to order cases from everyone and sell off the extras when I get them via the Seibertron.com store. That way I get them from wherever they come into first. I'm done with retail hunting. It's much easier to just buy cases everywhere, especially now that I've got two little ones and am photographing the boxes anyways for the Seibertron.com galleries.

The person who took these pics mistransformed the cannon. This is the right way:

The new Megatron figure is amazing! Yeah a voyager class would have been perfect but then I'm reminded of Cybertron Megatron (aka Galvatron). I think his face sculpt is perfectly menacing and I just hope the Takara version has less red. :VEHI:

If you guys want this Megatron as much as I do, I found a place that still has him for pre-order, http://scramblecore.com/products/transformers-generations-megatron. Problem is once you pre-order you can't cancel it. I've never ordered from them before, but I found it when I was on Tumblr and the price isn't bad. 9.50 for shipping for me. So it came to $52.00 altogether.

I'm in the same delema as Chuck. The wave 1 has shown up in retail here but I have already paid for dragstrip and have the other stunticons on preorder so its a toss up whether I should just cancel my preorder and wait till wave 2 comes into retail or just wait the preorder out as we might not end up getting wave 2 here in New Zealand

I discovered Robot kingdom at the end of the year when Wave 1 CW hit so I grabbed those just to get them to review. I pre-ordered wave 2 with them beginning of January, then they got delayed. Can't cancel them now so I hope they come soon.

I can hardly wait to get this figure in my paws. I've got it and the Armada retool preordered together from TFSource. I hope they come in this month as scheduled. Stuff has a way of ending up at TFSource several weeks later than other online retailers. :-(

As for the legs, I don't think they look all that "spindly." G1 Megatron, toy or cartoon model, didn't have beefy legs, or arms for that matter. I think part of what makes the legs look too skinny for some is that his arms are THICK. Megatron's got GUNS.

Looking at some close up shots of Megatron's chest, I can't figure out where those stickers actually fit, without covering up already existing sculpted and painted detail. Also, where does that "grill" sticker go?

Motormaster defenitely look better than Optimus Prime. Also, that little scout cars is too :x ! However, the scout car just parking itself onto the combined mode chest... It's just lazy and stupid. Why don't the car have a proper 3rd mode, an "armor mode" like the PCC minicon or even the CW scouts that change into a gun as a bonus mode?

I was wondering this too. I think those stickers are smaller than the picture alludes. Look how tiny the insignia actually is on the toy.

You could argue that pegging the ax sideways enhances the experience. Personally I think the chest closed looks closer to that G1 drone

it looks like the same sticker that went on the scope barrell/arm cannon on the g1 toy but there is only one the g1 toy had two

Saw another review. So the turret can be shortened. And the position of the canon is reversed. Aside from that, oooooooooooooooooh can't wait for May 2015! And does functional treads...........! They managed to implement it for the leader scale.....AWESOME!

If they had ups-ized this mold/design to a voyager with greater articulation and better proportions (probably possible in a larger size class), I would have been all over it.
Those colors are still very wrong for that mold.

Why?

The little car was attached 'as is' on our buddy Menasor back in 1985, so he's accurate in that sense. Consider yourself lucky he has a robot mode this time. Respect your geewun, young punk!

That YouTube review I think has vindicated the "spindly" legs of this Megatron a bit. Seeing the figure in motion, moved around into various poses, the insides of Megatron's legs have a LOT more texture and width than the still pictures might have you believe. There are lots of spots where the plating from the outside of the tank and some other sculpted details bulk out the legs a bit on the insides. Plus, it helps to pose him with his legs slightly angled out instead of straight forward. The arms still look a little too big, which I think could have been rectified if they had engineered the panels that fold up to reveal his fists to sit flush against the plastic of the forearm instead of sticking out a good centimeter or so.

I know, I kept waiting at the end of the video for him to at least put him next to CW Prime, but all we got was MP's and a third party figure. We know he at least had Silverbolt. That could have given us some idea of how he scales with the newer Voyager figures.

generations (chug or whateve ryou wanna call it) forms the largest percentage of my collection. However I never did get the previous megatron mainly because I didn't like the alt mode. Now this guy I was a bit sceptical at first. Didn't like his spindly proportions or his gun. But now that i've seen better pix and the video (tho hopefully there'll be a less painful one to watch out soon).

this mother has working rubber tracks... what other tf can claim that? I mean i was thrilled to pieces with bludgeon so this is definitley a step up though they could've still made that cannon a bit better. maybe if it separated in 2.

Anyhow this will definitely lead the chug decepticons into battle.

If I am correct, this megatron is actually a lil shorter Than mp -10.

I love the look of this megatron, but not to be used as a stand in mp megatron though.
If they were to have made the arms a lil slimmer, it would look more balanced. That's my only gripe with this megatron right now

The only thing I don't like about the new Megatron is the tiny weeny :CON: on his chest. Right above, there's a huge square indent who would be the perfect spot for a big, normal sized :CON: . Let's hope the tampograph would be easely erasable. There's even the sticker sheet included so it's all good.

Appart that tiny gripe, that megatron just ooze perfection! When I see him in store, even at a 60$+tx price, I'll buy him on sight!

BBTS has them both still available for preorder too, for the same price as EE. That's where I get most of my stuff because of their POL feature, and the fact that they are just over the St. Croix river from me so I get stuff uber fast..

And no, I don't work for them, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night... (Let's see, any more product placement/advertising I can do? 8-} )

Which one? There were a bunch, and I much prefer the one below to lead my decepticons since he kept his gun alt mode albeit in a classics design:

The Takara's United version is the best iteration of that Megatron. If this new Megatron were even just ultra sized, he would be a shoe-in for my Classics display.

This is a better Megatron, to me, than many others in a very long time. Including even his spinning turret is brilliant! It looks like the same arm/turret design as Cybertron Scattorshot, which I always thought had a very creative mechanism.

As I've written elsewhere...Overall, I'm really looking forward to this Megatron, which looks better than his CHUG nerf-gun version. He's no Masterpiece, but he's the best HasTak G1-like Megs I've seen in a very long while. Generally, I've felt blah about many of the Megatron toys in the past, which leads me to a comparison of the Megatrons throughout the years...

RID/2000 Megs, though cool, didn't evoke "Megatron" to me, and seemed like a DeathSaurus type of toy/character.

I never cared for Armada Megs' moose antlers, and I love Energon Megs, but he's really G1 Galvatron.

Cybertron Megatron was a wacky-colored Unicron mash-up; the silver "Galvatron" was better.

Movie 1 Megs was a weird monster-faced, space-jet thing, like the Animated version, although the Animated Helicopter Megatron was cool. Movie 2 Tank Megatron was good, except for the stupid gimpy arm, and Movie Tanker Megs was Ok, but never got a decent Leader Mold.

Prime Megatron, like his Movie 1 counterpart, disappointed with a weak space-jet mode again, although his bot mode was Ok too.

WFC/FOC Megatron was good but deserved a Voyager or Leader mold, Titanium Megs was cool, but over-simplified.

We never got an Alternator Megs, a Cadillac concept would have been awesome though. Alternity Megs was Ok, but too small & not widely available like Alternators were.

IDW Megatron is cool, but again he should have been larger, & though I love my MP05, he's lanky, fiddly, delicate, and overly complex.

So this Combiner Wars Megatron is a large(ish), G1-like version that looks more promising than anything else for a very long while. He's not perfect, but he's the best I've seen these many years. Until MP Megatron version 2 comes out, this is my best substitute.

I'm impressed. Finally a great looking G1 Megatron after three decades. He's never had an actual quality toy as far as I'm concerned but this one has an imposing size and proportions, transforms into an appropiate vehicle (one of the best things about G2 was making Megs a tank, basically a big gun that can transport itself) and even has a well done face and expression too. The best previous one for me was the Classics one but only in robot form and oooonly with the stupid 'wings' cut off (and the alt mode being based on a Nerf gun was laughable). The alt mode here is up there with RotF Bludgeon's in the quality tank mode area and having real working tracks gives it an advantage.

I've mostly skipped over a lot of Transformers the past couple years (bar a few AoE ones like Evasion Prime, Voyager Grimlock and the more recent Bumblebee, I just prefer the more complex realistic movie stuff over simplistic blocky cartoon TFs) and Combiner Wars just wasn't doing anything for me at all (nor was Hasbro's constant and annoying habit of having characters on opposite factions sharing molds) but this one I am tempted in buying.

I don't say it often but nice job on this one Hasbro/Takara.
