New Gallery: Combiner Wars Motormaster

i love his bot mode. combiner mode looks off, but im confident those legs can be tweaked to make him look less dwarf'y.

It would've been neat if they sculpted his feet to look like little truck halves.

I've been thinking about this pretty much since we first saw images: can Blackjack's weapon be used as a sword hilt for Menasor, or are there no attachment ports?

Motormaster's here this early? I thought he was going to come out later with the rest of the stunticons.

I think I may need to paint on that handlebar 'stache he has in Stunticon Job..

I imagine that if there are none, it wouldn't be too hard to drill a 5mm hole into Blackjack's weapn there. Depending on how that works, that might decide whether or not I actually get him. What with the recent pics of MM in torso mode without him, I'll probably end up skipping him.

Well, I'm looking forward to Menasor, but if he doesn't look quite right then I think each Stunticon separately in robot mode will work just fine.

This mold is so much better as Motormaster than Prime. The lunky arms just don't well work on Prime.

Before someone points it out ... I mistransformed the backside panel. I forgot that it was supposed to attach to his back and I ended up doing it like a butt panel like Magnus instead. Oops!

Well this version of the mold looks a lot better than fake windows Prime. But why is the truck grey instead of black ? Is there no way to give it a G1 accurate truck paintjob without sacrificing G1 accuracy in robot mode ?

Also how are you getting these in hand so super early ? Are you paying crazy ebay prices from factory insiders ? Or are these promotional figures directly from Hasbro ?

I notice the Hasbro jet limbs sport more G1 cartoon accurate decos on their wings. But Hasbro Silverbolt seems to sport a more vintage toy accurate deco. (gold stripe on plane and black shoulders) And with Takara, it seems to be the other way around. Takara's Silverbolt is more G1 cartoon accurate but the Takara jet limbs sport more vintage toy accurate decos on their wings. With that being said, Ill probably have no choice to buy both to get a completely cartoon accurate Superion. Stupid gift sets, wish they would just sell them separate.

Are you sure? Skydive had lightning bolts on his wings in the cartoon, which the Takara figure has while the Hasbro figure doesn't. Though the G1 toy had them too, this just makes Takara's version both show- and toy-accurate while Hasbro is accurate to neither.

And Fireflight's cartoon model used its toy's blue and yellow wing stripes, but made them thinner. Hasbro's Firefly uses the toy-accurate thick stripes while Takara's Firebolt uses the show-accurate thin stripes.

And though they're not shown in these galleries, Hasbro's Air Raid uses the G1 toy's silver/red/yellow wing stripes while Takara's Air Rider uses the show model's simiplified solid white stripes.

Takara's are definitely the more show-accurate in regards to wing decos.

Finally some decent pics of CW Motormaster in vehicle mode! And it seems that my fears were realized and that the official pics did not suffer from some strange photoshopping. The back part of his cab is a different color than the rest of him. Honestly, he'd look better if all of him was that color instead of what the majority of him is in that cheap grey plastic. The darker metallic grey is much nicer, but looks out of place used like this. Here's hoping the Takara version has a nicer, more cohesive color scheme because it looks like I'm going import when if comes to Combiner Wars.

Im kinda going off memory of the G1 cartoon. Its not easy to find images of the alt mode cartoon images online. I dont think skydive had any blue on his tail in the cartoon like the takara version has. But the toy had some blue on the tail. That was the biggest eye grabber that made me think the takara limbs were more toy accurate. Not sure about fireflight. Were still awaiting the hasbro slingshot images.

Oooh. That's a good point. It would be nice to see an anime accurate set of the Stunticons like they're doing with the Aerialbots. Oooh.

Oooh. That's a good point. It would be nice to see an anime accurate set of the Stunticons like they're doing with the Aerialbots. Oooh.

One more thing, is it okay to speculate that there will be a Wildrider version for the Tomy version instead of the pickup truck? Tomy remolded a face for Slingshot, but Wildrider, an entirely new mold?

I might be getting too far ahead of myself but since the issue of "anime" accuracy has been raised.............

Nope, if Slingshot is any indication:

1) We have a TRU listing for him
2) He's a retool of an existing non-retooled mold (Skydive and Air Raid share parts)

... we may see Wildrider as a retool of either Breakdown or Dead End.

CW streetwise was "confirmed" as a new mold. the takara wildrider could be a retool of him, thus giving four completely different car limbs.

While the Optimus Prime is an easy pass for me, I am looking forward to getting Motor Master. I'm not in a huge rush and can wait for retail release.

That settles it for me. Blackjack can take a running jump, he looks so much better with a closed chest. Downward horns look good too!

I really want to pop Motormaster's face off to give him a nice pair of painted red eyes.

Though not a combiner itself, it still falls under the 2015 toyline, and much like deluxe Armada Starscream, homages the Unicron trilogy cartoon of the same name. The toy shares the mold with the more G1esque tank Megatron (stay tuned for more on that!), features a new antlered headsculpt and orange/green/purple deco, plus a firing missile, telescopic arm cannon and a big purple rifle gun. Generations Combiner Wars Armada Megatron

I would love to see a Tidal Wave to go along with him.

they should do a g2 retool of this and color it like g2 megatron. i would buy it.

Do the Megatrons each have different handguns? It's looks like they do in the pics.

I'm getting both of these. I like the G1 Megatron better, but it'd be nice to have the Armada one to keep Armada Starscream and Hot Shot company. I do wish they remolded him a little more so that, for example, he could have his capture claws at the front of the tank.

They are, but they are dangling out from under the front. Pretty cool.

I just wish his legs were thicker and the turret came out under his arm, etc.

If I did an Autobot group shot with "Autobot" Megatron, which 1/2 dozen figures from the past few years would you like to see with Megatron? I was thinking Tailgate, Brainstorm, Cloud Rodimus ... not sure who else though.

I actually really like Combiner Wars Armada Megatron. My biggest gripe is that he has the same gun as "G1" Megatron as well as the same chest plate. I wish they had done something to remold that part to differentiate it more from the other Megatron.

I also wish the giant cannon was detachable so that it could be on his hip, or on its right should for a G2 Megatron.

And I do see that the head (and claws) are under the tank front/chestplate. I'm trying to see if there's some way to leave the chest flipped up in tank mode but I don't think so since it looks like the arms have to swing there to form the turret. If the chestplate was removable altogether...

I have to say I really enjoy this figure. I was never in to the Armada toys or the Unicron Trilogy stuff but this toy is fun to transform and I just LOVE the fact that he has real tank treads that work properly and don't fall off (yes I totally was driving him around my desk in tank mode ).

Due to scale, that shot is not possible with the toys. Here's what I came up with instead ... it's got all of the characters in the right spot in relation to Megatron plus I left the other toys from the Lost Light in the shot as well.
