And that Whirl versus Megatron pic makes me like the Classics Megatron mold a whole lot more. The Takara paintjob probably helps. If it weren't for the fact I really don't like Megatron as a gun (it's just silly even by "objectformer" standards) I'd try and get him.

I was expecting more of a true red myself, but I don't think the maroon looks half bad.

Isn't the maroon pretty much spot on for his Rodimus Prime coloring?

So I'm not the only one thinking that.

I've got Rodimus paid for at RK (along with a few things coming next year ) and was a bit concerned about the colours at first, but I think they work well.

i think they made all of shockys weapons pink to emulate the G1 toy. and if you want a classics mold megatron, the one pictured with whirl is the united version. the other black/silver one is henkei, which is a little chromey and has a brighter red.Delta Magnus wrote:Not sure on the translucent pink for his weapons (would have preferred chromed silver myself) but the mold works surprisingly well for him. Really do not like the Shockwave though. It's just a purple Whirl. When you look at the modifications made to the Springer mould to do Sandstorm you wonder why they couldn't have done a few mods to Whirl's mode to make him a little more Shockwave-esque.
Posted by Sabrblade on November 29th, 2014 @ 9:54am CST
The people who made Sandstorm from Springer and the people who made Shockwave from Whirl are not the same people. Cloud figures are not remolds. They are meant to be straight redecos. What other existing character could they have redecoed Whirl into?Syn_13 wrote:Really do not like the Shockwave though. It's just a purple Whirl. Delta Magnus wrote:Well there is some remolding going on, albeit very minor (headsculpts like on Starscream and Megatron, Starscream's arms being made to accomodate the MP Seeker cannons etc) but no Sandstorm-tier remolding no. I mean, Sandstorm is basically a whole new figure that has similar engineering to Springer- easily one of the best remolds ever.
Cloud Starscream is basically a straight-up repaint of Double Dealer. The heads are exactly the same. No retooling there. Cloud Brawn is a repaint of a previously developed mold for the Generations GDO assortment that was canceled. Cloud Megatron is a mold from that same assortment of figures. Sabrblade is correct, there is no retooling for the Cloud line.

No remolding whatsoever. Megatron is based on the GDO figure:
And Starscream is based on Gen. Doubledealer:
And the Null-Rays from MP Starscream have 5mm posts, and the Blitzwing mold already had the holes, albeit screw holes:

Well, both Rodimus and Springer have been robomantically linked to Arcee from the 1986 movie and onwards, so perhaps they've been trying to copy each other's style to the point where they look identical, except for their paint jobs, hoping to be the one Arcee ultimately choses as her definitive manchine?

id thought of that too. id really like to have my united roddy and cloud roddy on the same shelf, respectively as hotrod and rodimus prime. but springer obviously needs to be there too, being part of the movie cast and all. i may still have to get the protector armor...Flashwave wrote:Man, I love how good Springer looks as Roddy for a straight repaint, but I can't do it. Ironic, using a Rodimus Prime toy for Hot Rod and a Hot Rod toy for Rodimus Prime.shajaki wrote:id really like to have my united roddy and cloud roddy on the same shelf, respectively as hotrod and rodimus prime.

Oh hell yeah. I am waiting it out for the first week though. From experience, he gets about 50 or so, so I will wait for the prices to quiet down and hopefully snatch him for 30$ or less. The odd thing about this one is that the shipping isnt free.

Nothing good about it whatsoever. I would rather have a broken head on my Brainstorm than this mold in its "perfected" form.

I disagree, I think its a fantastic mold and great improvement since it actually uses the shark head as the chest without using fake kibble like the original. The legs are super stable if you tab in the knees properly and I am impressed with how well he balances. This toy has flaws, sure (the Hasbro deco doesn’t help), but I dont get the complaint about its shell. It's a great improvement in terms of the shell over its original toy. What used to look like an amazon canopy in the back is now reduced to two small wings that can be rearranged any way that suits you.

I never cared for the original, but I bought the Generations one just because I am a completest. It might be an improvement on the older one, but if so, in my opinion that is like saying a fart is an improvement over raw sewage. I wanted to like it, but in the end I could not based on the ankle, knee, and arm joints. The shell might be an improvement, but its still a shell. So many other figures they could have chose from......like a Voyager Shockwave. FOC Shockwave works because that was its look in the comics, but why we haven't had a generations or even a classics style Shockwave is beyond me. Let alone four other dinobots.
I don't even remember this character from IDW. Is Skybyte even in the comics?

Was it in the storyline that covers the giveaways in the comics? Sorry, when I said that I refer to the comics given with any of the Generations figures. I haven't read any outside of that. I see Ironhide is sporting his WFC/FOC look. Is that his most current look? Since we suspect he will be a redeco of Offroad in the CW subline I would have thought they updated it? I see Starscream has his G1 colors rather than the newer red deco, so I assume this issue is at least a year old?

From 2012, RID #5. The Generations toy uses a few design ques from this incarnation but isn't a direct match.

Oh prices are right. The same guy selling hellwarp on e-bay is usually the lowest price you'll find. He also has the hasbro sky-byte right now and he should be going away for very little I recon.

That would be that red and blue Gen. Roadbuster, homaging Energon Ironhide (who was called Roadbuster in Japan). Some see him more as the G1 Targetmaster Crosshairs.

Ah, but was Energon Ironhide homaging G1 crosshairs? Because the other Energon Irohnide deco was homagin G1 Hound. So there could have been a bunch of homage double dipping.
Like one thing I am curious of is generations corsscut. Is it a modernising of the exclusive G1 crosscut that was released way after the facts or an homage to the Honda diaclone model that was not chosen for the Transformers line back in the day? Or both at the same time?

I'd say both at the same time, as he along with Road Rage are based on Diaclone-original decos. And there are still more to be potentially had, as there are red and black versions of the Honda City Turbo mold as well.

Oh yeah, there were a bunch initially
You know, for those diaclones, I really wish there were rereleases of the actual diaclone toy rather than a transformers encore. Like ratchet and ironhide. They have redone those a few times but it would be really cool for one set to come with the little guys so that it could be "played with" properly. And Wheeljack's cockpit is so detailed I wish I had a little diaclone guy to man it.

People just prefer to think of the Cloud Roadbuster toy as a stand in for a CHUG Crosshairs since it has close-enough colors to G1 Crosshairs.

Transformers Cloud Roadbuster would sooo fit in well as my Neo-Classics Targetmaster Crosshairs!
If a certain China based Ebay has any of these go up at discount I would be so happy!

Right off the heels of the Cloud Hellwarp images, E-bay seller lena81822 has posted images of upcoming Transformers Cloud TFC-A04 Autobot Roadbuster to go with the toy's listings. Cloud Roadbuster uses the Generations Roadbuster mold with deco homaging Energon Ironhide.
