Or he changes his name back to Prime and takes command of the Autobots once more, that would kinda work too.

I certainly wish they would. At the very least, re-release the Classics voyager mold. It is still a viable figure.

I hate you.
But seriously, he's okay. With Barber editing, I'm sure we won't have the continuity mess we had with AHM. just hopefully he doesn't royally screw things up.

Eh, tossing Flamewar into that mess might just make things worse.
Right on about Slipstream. Considering what we learned about 2 of Windy's casemates yesterday, it'd seem like a waste not to retool her into someone else, and red and blue make purple anyway.

She looks awesome in that pic, and she's gonna be penned by an awesome writer.
Bring on Windblade!

It would be even better to see Airazor with her own mold as seen with her beast era cohorts but I doubt that she'd get her own new mold toy outside of wishfully a new Tigerhawk.
Airazor fits very well with what they intend on doing with Windblade. The names are extremely similar and Japanese Airazor was the ward to Tigatron who was a samurai. Although they could just dump the swords for some claw type weapons instead.
Just me being hopeful.

Besides, TFCC just did a Slipstream under the pretense that Hasbro wasn't going to be using the character anytime soon. However, that was before they needed to make Windblade and it's possibly inevitable retool.

With all the influx of new Beast Wars toys, why not a brand new Airazor all together?
One question about Windblade. What is she holding in her left hand? It sort of looks like a blaster, but its held at an odd angle. Is this anything of significance. (mind you I am reading the IDW books in trades and have not started Dark Cybertron yet)

I'm with you about a new Airazor. If Rhinox is any indication, she'd be ace.
And it looks like the thing in Windblade's left hand is the scabbard of her sword. The shape of the sword's hilt matches.

And she does look better than previous images we were shown.

I am very intrigued as to how Dark Cybertron will end at this point, if all these teasers keep hinting at something big. And why 'Dawn of the Autobots'? Hm? Hm?
It looks like Earth might show up again, from the OP picture we saw, but Cybertron will still be in the picture too, from this one. Argh. Come on March. Come on April.
Posted by warmech95 on January 16th, 2014 @ 5:28am CST
With the VTOL engine on the hilt of the sword and the look of the bottom of the scabbard, this probably means the scabbard will form part of the tail end of her jet mode so the sword can store away inside the alt-mode without it needing to be attached as in the case with FOC Grimlock.
Though I do doubt she will be able to hold the scabbard and it will be connected to her body and it will be more like drifts car door scabbards.
On that note, now that drift is off the radar, what if he came back and so we would have too autobot samurai badasses cutting things up!

Oh so, SkyFire/ Jetfire, the Airealbots, Cosmos, and Powerglide turned into cars? And I guess Optimus Prime isn't an Autobot then, cos he turns into a truck.

In your defense, in 1984 Autobot did turn into anything land-based that has wheels (cars, trucks, and the like) only, and in Animated they did say "Autobots can't fly" until the debut of Jetfire & Jetstorm. I will give you only these two.

You realise keep posting stuff like that will only incite these things to happen?...Stop poking the dog and maybe it'll stop biting you.
I haven't read a single IDW book accept the Hoist comic that came with the Generations figure, but I am aware of many things that happens in them (thanks to this site) and I am intrigued. But I'm tentative of jumping into such a large book series with a lot of interwoven stuff, plus...I learned from my days collecting X-Men and Spider-man that every comic series seems to ret-con or throw excuses around for stories to shift and re-boot all too often, especially when a concept or story is stale, limits things or people just outright hate. (Ben Riley, anyone?) I dunno. I don't like it when long running, well built comics come to a dead end and pull an excuse out of it's arse to somehow restore status Quo. Does this happen much in IDW's TF comics?
Plus...I'm really bad at remembering to pick issues up, especially when I have no where to get them from here. And I prefer cartoons. Still, I can keep up with stuff on TF wiki at least.
Question though; Doesn't Megatron have the black stealth bomber body?

To answer your first line of questions, IDW really hasn't done any retconning at all. With a mixture of torrenting and buying trades in comic shops, I've managed to read all of idw's Generation 1 comics and they've been very strong on their stand of having one very large "G1" universe and have just continued adding onto it as the years go on, they only split their G1 universe into 2 comics after the end of the D-Void catastrophe, when Optimus renounced his title as a prime and the autobots split into the groups that stayed with bumblebee and the groups the left with Rodimus, and that I feel was just to make story telling easier and at the same time get new revenue. But I think after Dark Cybertron is over they'll be merging the books together again and even then still just continue their stories without any need to "reboot." As for the megatron question, he had the Bomber body up to when the comic split into Robots in Disguise and More Than Meets the Eye. It was heavily damaged after the D-Void catastrophe and when he returned he needed a new one which Shockwave and Soundwave rebuilt for him.

"All Hail Megatron" did a whole bunch of retconning, whose retcons themselves had to be retconned by many many post-AHM issues in order to restore sense and logic in fitting with the pre-AHM Simon Furman stories.Unicronobot wrote:To answer your first line of questions, IDW really hasn't done any retconning at all.

So the retcon retconned a lot of retconning which have retconned the retcon?
Oh God, I've gone cross-eyed...

Basically, Furman created a certain special status quo that portrayed the war as a galactic cold war fought in secret with protocols and standards, but then along came Shane McCarthy with All Hail Megatron, which set out to change the scheme of everything into being "like the G1 cartoon, but edgy!" The war was changed into having been started because of the Matrix and things like Cybertron's poisonous atmosphere were hastily neutered with little explanation. The the Mike Costa-penned ongoing came along with wanting to be like a mishmash of G1 with more of a Movieverse feel to it, while also trying to explain some of the retcons caused by All Hail Megatron along the way with newer retcons. Then we come to the current era with both James Roberts and John Barber telling more stories that go off and do their own thing (until "Dark Cybertron", that is) while occasionally patching up any additional continuity errors from the past. 'Course, there's the Flint Dille/Chris Metzen-penned "Autocracy" and "Monstrocity" series that made more retcons, but were more workable with the Roberts/Barber stuff since they kept referencing those.Mindmaster wrote:Umm...

Thankfully, as TFWiki says, John Barber is "God's gift to continuity." (He even helped to make sense out of the whole Movieverse timeline)

True dat, true dat.
We know one of the 'heroes' is going to die, as is teased in the Dark Cybertron #12 solicit. And Roberts mentioned on Twitter that all the MTMTE season 2 solicits are very spoilery too, so as soon as those pop up, we'll know more.
As it stands, I am very intrigued.
