Our own Mr. Terrific had this to say about the award:
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Colin from Ottawa, Canada, and I post on the boards as Mr.Terrific (an increasingly less-than-obscure superhero from the 1940s). Following the Botcon awards ceremony, Seibertron's own Counterpunch invited me to say a few words about my diorama for the site. I'm happy to oblige in order to share my enthusiasm for vinyl toys.
I was introduced to the Munny about two years ago and it offered a truly unique and fun canvass for my efforts. For those of you who aren't familiar, a Munny is a completely blank vinyl figure produced by U.S.-based KidRobot (
http://www.kidrobot.com/munny). Similar to Hasbro's Mighty Muggs, the Munny is geared toward those who want to create a new figure of their own. It's most important features are found in its exaggerated head, pronounced ears and tail. Initially released at 8" tall in three colours (black, white and glow-in-the-dark), KidRobot has subsequently created keychain, 4" and a whopping 2 foot tall variation.
After Botcon 2007, I was deciding on an entry for 2008. Having just wrapped up a series of Classic Joes for Custom Con XVI (
http://www.toymania.com/customcorner/cc16/munny.shtml), I thought that the Munnies would work really well for the Beast Wars.
Originally, I'd plan to put together the entire cast of Beast Wars. But that proved too ambitious given the timeframe, so I focussed on the Season One cast. Midway through my progress I decided on a theme and continued to plan the diorama while I finished up each figure, which took me about five months to put together. In order to get the most accurate television rendition, I relied on a variety of sources, and constaintly sought advice on the sizing issue.
For all my Beast-munnies, I opted to distinguish them without removing their inherant munny-ness. Inferno's tale, Terrorsaur's wings, and Wapinator's butt, these additions came from a combination of shaped milliput and regular plastic. The spiders' legs ended up as Transformer package ties.
Most of the scenary was assembled in Cincinnati from pieces prepped before I left. In particular, I want to mention the chair. Because Munnies have no knees, they cannot sit, so the chair is arched at a 45 degree angle to simulate Megatron in a sitting position. The bottom of the chair is also designed to partially rest on the ground to allow the chair to balance between Scorponok and Tarantulas.
Winning the 3D Diorama "Best of Show" award for Botcon 2008 is a real honour because of the calibre of the competition and the judges involved. The praise I've received for this effort has been truly gratifying and I am very grateful for the feedback. And I want to thank my partner, Beth, and my artist-friend Teresa, both of who were excellent sounding board for ideas throughout the process. I also want to thank the transformersclub forum Beast Wars guys for their advice, particularly "Psychography" who provided a treasure trove of useful pictures, as well as Seibertron.com and Beast Wars Internation (
http://www.bwint.net) for their screen captures.
Thank you for this opportunity to chat with you a bit about the diorama.

Update! April Fool'd By The Club...Forgiveness Possible.
Don Figueroa is to be 'real' artist for convention comic, making a brief return for the club, and the 3 page preview should still be happening on Thursday.
End Update
The Fooled--Yesterday, on the Collector's Club
website, it was announced that a 3 page preview of the mirrorverse 'Shattered Glass' convention comic book would be available online this Thursday. Apparently, a prominent member of the club's own forums has been able to scoop up the preview early and present it for all to see.
For those that want the entire comic book and style to stay a surprise, please know that my opinon is that you will be pleased with the art style chosen and the first few pages represent what looks to be a quality story with very surprising guest stars galore!
This is not your father's Transformers!!
For those willing to be a bit more spoiled check out
Page 1,
Page 2, and
Page 3.
Thanks to Munkeefist for the detective work!--The Fooler

We have received another update on the status of the BotCon Primus Package. As was confirmed earlier it is indeed sold out. Below you can read what alternatives will be provided for people who didn't get their registration in on time.
This is going out to all members. If you have received a confirmation email concerning your registration, this notice does not apply to you.
The demand for this year's BotCon figure sets (both boxed and loose) has been unprecedented… and they are now officially SOLD OUT. Since manufacturing of the sets has already been completed, we are not able to obtain additional quantities.
In order to accommodate those who are still planning to attend, we are providing you with two new options:
1) You can still come as a Primus Package holder and we will substitute a 2005 BotCon Boxed Set
Descent into Evil (click here to view) - at the reduced cost of $250 for Club members, $300 for non-members - and in addition, you will receive this year's free attending figure. Loose sets are also available for $130 for Club members and $165 for non-members.
So that you can see what you will be getting this year, we have decided to do something we have never done before...we are going to unveil the free attending figure this Friday! This is the first time we have shown the free attending figure before the start of BotCon!
2) We are creating a new attending package designed for this year only!
The Energon Package includes admission to all events (just like the Primus Package, including the Casino Night Awards Dinner) a convention badge, pin and comic/program (no toys). The Energon Package is $180 for Club members, $230 for non-members.
If you have sent in a registration since February 14, we will be emailing or calling you to find out which package you want to switch to.
Attached you will find the current registration form with the new options.
Thank you, once again, for your support! We look forward to seeing you in Cincinnati!
Brian
PS. For those of you who have already registered, confirmation letters will be going in the mail this week.
If you still need a hotel, The Millennium Hotel - 800-876-2100 or 513-352-2100

Pete@Botcon has posted an interesting tidbit on the
Transformers Collectors Club forums. At 8 PM, Eastern Time, Pete will be posting something as quoted to be "HUGE" exclusively on the Club Forums. There have been no other hints given to what this big news is, but Pete has said that, "You DON'T want to miss this".
To view the announcement, log into your account at the club site. Then click on the "Club News and Updates" forum. From there, click the topic labeled "Super big news for you all".
As this most undoubtedly will be an image of some sort, we expect our members to respect the club and NOT copy the image and post it anywhere. Seibertron.com WILL post a description of what the big surprise is so non-members will have a rough idea what they are missing, but no image copies will be allowed.
Seibertron.com strongly encourages fans to join the Collectors Club so everyone can view breaking news items such as this firsthand. To join the Collectors Club, click
