Emmy award winning Stan Bush was kind enough to take a few moments to do an interview with us. He has an all new album scheduled to be released in 2007 just in time for next year's major Transformers live action motion picture. Stan is probably best known to Transformers fans for performing "The Touch" and "Dare" which were both featured in the 1986 animated Transformers movie. I discovered that Stan's been quite busy during the past few decades ... click here to read the interview to learn more about our man Stan!

Comic Book Resources recently sat down with the leading Transformers writer, Simon Furman, for an exclusive interview. In the interview they go into the mythology of Transformers as well about what is in the planning for Transformers with Furman and IDW Publishing. The interview is highlighted with previews from the upcoming Transformers comics.

"'Transformers,' while broadly fitting the same basic pattern, laid out a much more multi-layered playing field, providing depth, reach and back story to otherwise two-dimensional characters and situations,"

"I just think it's a theme that can applied anywhere, to any character,. We all walk a line. Sometimes we step one way, sometimes another. How we then deal with the consequences defines us as a person. And I definitely see the Transformers as people. It's a mistake, I think, to start out with the idea that they're robots. They're weak, flawed, strong, inspirational, conflicted, opinionated characters - just like us. The fact that they're robots is, to me, fairly incidental."

Our own Jess has received an update from Vince DiCola and has decided to share it with everyone. Here is what Vince DiCola had to say:

"Hello again,

We're grateful for the positive reaction we've been seeing regarding the piece of music we posted a few a days ago. As requested from some of you, the music is now available for a free download. Please enjoy it for your own use (or as a soundtrack to your sister's wedding video), but any and all commercial use is prohibited without obtaining proper licensing.

In addition, we're posting another piece of music for your listening pleasure. Some of you may recognize this as part of my "Castle of the Gods" suite I had been commissioned to compose for one of the TF conventions some time ago. The entire suite was obviously inspired by Transformers, and as Kenny and I were going through some music to update we decided that part 3 of the suite is a cool 'evil' theme. Hope you like our revamped "Castle of the Gods/Part 3":

Thanks again for all the kind words.

Cordially,

Our own Jess has posted some cool news about new Transformers Music by Vince DiCola. DiCola originally posted a message about it on Don Murphy's Web Site. However, he also sent Jess a copy of the post as well! Here is what Vince DiCola had to say:

"Hello to all,

I am presenting this piece of music as a special "Thank You" to all my friends from the Transformers community...

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=610622 Click this link to listen and get to the song! It is called Transformers Suite 2006.

Some of you may recall hearing this arrangement when I performed it at the last convention I attended years ago. My partner Kenny Meriedeth and I began re-working my original arrangement about a year ago and we continued to work on it even after learning that a composer had been chosen to score the new live action film. As you will hear, this piece features some 'snippets' from my score to the 1986 animated movie, along with the original Transformers theme presented in an updated fashion.

I hope you enjoy this music and we wish everyone the best on the new movie.

Thanks again to all my fans!

Cordially,
Vince DiCola"

Transformers novelist David Cian (pseudonym for David Russel) announced on Don Murphy's forums that he'll be writing the upcoming Transformers Movie Prequel novel that will be released sometime in the 2nd quarter of 2007 before the movie's release on July 4th, 2007.

When asked about the premise of this novel, David Cian responded: "I guess I get to own this idea. The storyline is essentially mine, though plenty of input was provided by the various parties involved. Hints... well, let's see now... how about this: you'll get to learn a lot more about the history of a certain secret government agency; a significant part of the story occurs in the far reaches of our galaxy; oh, yes, and there will be a surprise at the end for fans of the film."

Click here to read David Cian's full post about this novel on Don Murphy's forums.

You can find the novels written by David Cian at Amazon.com by clicking here. On a personal note, I really enjoyed the 4 existing Transformers novels that came out a couple of years ago. They're certainly not without flaws but they're some pretty dark and interesting Transformers stories that you won't see in comic book form anytime soon. If you haven't read these novels yet, I would highly recommend them.

Good evening my fellow Seibertronians,

I received an exciting message from our friend Stan Bush, who many of you might remember as the original performer of the infamous "The Touch" from the original animated Transformers Movie (1986). Here's what Stan wrote to the staff of SEIBERTRON.com earlier today ...

Stan Bush wrote:
Hi Ryan,

I wanted to let the legions of Transfans know that my Producer and I are in the studio mixing a new track for a certain upcoming live-action movie directed by Michael Bay ... I think you know the one!

It's a BIG song, with 70+ tracks at this point!

We hope to submit this track in the next couple weeks.

Also, you can give your readers the link to my new website/MySpace page: www.stanbush.com.

All The Best,
Stan Bush

I think it would be really great if we could rally behind Stan Bush to support him in his efforts to make another kick ass song for the upcoming Transformers Movie. Thanks for contacting us, Stan. I think I speak for many fans when I say I can't wait to see what you've got in store for us. I'm sure it will be great!

If you missed SEIBERTRON.com's "remastering" of Stan Bush's "The Touch" music video, make sure you check it out here.

Designer Shoji Kawamori interview: MP-03 design decisions and the secret of Kiss Players revealed!

Fellow Seibertronian stormrider has gone above the call of duty to bring us an very nice translation from the current editon of Hobby Magazine, that contains an interview with Shoji Kawamori (designer of MP-03). Also translated is the true story behind the brand new KISS Players line! Check out all of the goodies stormrider has below!

The November edition of Hobby Magazine, Japan contains an interview with the Shoji Kawamori, the designer of MP-03 Starscream. I recently got the interview translated.

Some of the highlights reveal information regarding questions that many Siebertron fans have been asking and sometimes debating about.

Highlights:

As you may already know - Shoji Kawamori was the chief designer of MP-03 Starscream. He is also well-known for his mecha designs and anime designs for Macross, Diaclone (which later became Transformers), and also Convoy Hybrid (THS-01 & THS-02).

Shoji Kawamori's Vision
When Takara came to Shoji with the Masterpiece Starscream project they gave him lots of free range in the design. Shoji was adamant from the beginning that he wanted to design a realistic looking jet, and the robot mode would be secondary.

His visions and adamancy led to a perfect looking F-15 Eagle which included intricate details on the fuselage, nosecone radar, wing flaps, and airbrakes.

Shoji was also insistent about Starscream's color. Again, he wanted a real looking jet, which is why he chose the gray. In Shoji's opinion, he feels that Starscream's robot mode contains enough red and blue to recognize him as the character. It was not asked if an Anime colored version of Starscream would be released in the future.

Mold Changes

Takara pretty much gave Shoji the reigns to make changes where he saw fit. The mold changes were made (as you can guess) to make the jet mode more complete. Some of these include (as you know) part of the fuselage on Starscream's arms, shoulders, and hips.

The tail stabilizers were moved from his legs to his hips to create the appearance of a samurai wearing two swords.

Ideas that were dropped.

Shoji originally wanted to make the robot parts completely hidden on the undercarriage of the jet. He was not happy that the forearms and chest were visible during the alt mode. He also was not satisfied with the head. He played around with designs to cover these parts up but then scrapped the idea because it would have sacrificed the robot mode too much.

The purpose of KISS revealed

I don't know if you have been like me and wondering - Why do the KISS toys include sexy young girls? And who is Takara marketing their campaign towards?

The sexy girls from KISS are not meant for girls; and they are not meant for boys; they are meant for the older male collector. Takara recently explained this in the November edition of Hobby Magazine.

Tomy-Takara plans to market Transformers to adults for a while and not to children. We've been witnessing this already as Takara created the Binaltechs, Binaltech Astericks, Masterpieces, and now KISS Players.

Female figurines are popular in Japan among male adults. Tomy-Takara jumped on the bandwagon and included them in their KISS products. A radio show of KISS now airs in Japan.

Takara did not mention how long they will continue this campaign, but hinted that we will see other KISS Transformers released in the near future. Takara revealed that both the KISS and Masterpiece series are doing very well.

It is not known whether Tomy-Takara plans to release additional series in the near future.
