Transformers novelist David Cian (pseudonym for David Russel) announced on Don Murphy's forums that he'll be writing the upcoming Transformers Movie Prequel novel that will be released sometime in the 2nd quarter of 2007 before the movie's release on July 4th, 2007.
When asked about the premise of this novel, David Cian responded: "I guess I get to own this idea. The storyline is essentially mine, though plenty of input was provided by the various parties involved. Hints... well, let's see now... how about this: you'll get to learn a lot more about the history of a certain secret government agency; a significant part of the story occurs in the far reaches of our galaxy; oh, yes, and there will be a surprise at the end for fans of the film."

They're certainly not without flaws but they're some pretty dark and interesting Transformers stories that you won't see in comic book form anytime soon. If you haven't read these novels yet, I would highly recommend them.
