As you already know, BotCon is in full swing already. As you know from viewing
Seibertron.com's Hasbro Toy Displays Photogallery, Hasbro has already showed off a lot of new soon to be release figures. However, there is a lot of news from BotCon Design Panel about future releases and more.
Allspark.com and
TFormers.com have posted reports detailing this information, click on the links above or read the full reports.
Summary
- No confirmation but lots or talk of Masterpiece Starscream's possible release in the US. If released, Hasbro's Starsream will have his original deco and be a different toy to Takaras version.
- Hasbro say Masterpeice Starscream was thier idea that they gave to Takara.
- When asked Hasbro said they would like to see a Masterpiece Grimlock, although there are no plans do make one just yet.
- Alternators is not dead, but it on hiatus. There are no plans for Alternator Hot Rod version of Kiss-Players Rodimus.
- Universe is officially finished but there will be some "unexpected" new Titaniums revealed on Saturday. Anything like Universe they do from now on will probably be in a Classics package.
- Some of the new Titanium to be seen on Saturday will be based om comic book designs, maybe Dreamwave.
- The gold and white Galaxy Force Vector Prime deco was used because Gonzo did an animated model in those colours.
- There is a Cosmo G1 UFO design which could be seen in Classics.
- The Beast Wars 10th Aniversary Optimus Primal and Megatron were designed for the Cybertron line. It was planned to have Cybertron Optimus and Megatron hit with something from the beast planet. However they used the moulds for the BW anniversary series instead.
- Classic Megatron's alt-mode was chosen for it's lack of realism. They chose the 'Nerf maverick' blaster look because it looked 'cool' but not like a real gun. They went for non-metallic colours to avoid any legal problems.
- Hasbro have a list of 8 or so extra Classics figures. Should Classics do well, this nay be released but no designs have been drawn up yet.
- Hasbro said that Arcee is probably on the list for Classics.
- Archer would like to do a Classics Predaking figure but there are no plans as yet.
- Hasbro is working with movie design team on the Moive toy line.
- The fan reaction to the leaked movie images didn't surprise surprise Archer. However, he's not sure if Paramount was prepared for the fan reaction. Hasbro wants fans to voice their opinions about the movie.
- Archer has seen about 20 min of footage from the movie. His honest opinion is he really likes what he has seen so far.
- Archer doesn't think that Transformers have a unique look and wants to push the boundaries. He feels 'the character is the character no matter how you draw it as long as its done with integrity.'

SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT UNVEILS SECOND COVER ART IMAGE FOR TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE 20TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL EDITION DVD
Second Image Of “Transforming” Cover By Legendary Artist Don Figueroa Revealed For The First Time
New York, New York, August 15, 2006 — Since SONY BMG Music Entertainment announced the November 7th release of TRANSFORMERS: The Movie 20th Anniversary Special Edition DVD¸ fans have been buzzing with anticipation about the details of the two-disc set.
At Comic-Con 2006, fans were told that the DVD’s collectibility would extend to the packaging itself with a “transforming” image. SONY BMG commissioned fan-favorite TRANSFORMERS artist Don Figueroa to create the imagery for the special cover, and displayed for the first time the art featuring Optimus Prime appropriately situated in a position of prominence. Joining the Autobot leader are Megatron, Bumblebee, Starscream, Blaster and more of the most popular TRANSFORMERS characters.
Today, SONY BMG is revealing the second Don Figueroa image that will comprise the “transforming” artwork. In this image, Hot Rod – as he transforms into Rodimus Prime – is grasping the Matrix of Leadership as it lights the Autobots’ darkest hour. Above, Unicron begins to destruct, while Galvatron, Arcee and Springer look on.
For the 20th anniversary edition DVD, Sony BMG Home Entertainment completely re-mastered and color-corrected the film and will present Optimus Prime, Megatron and the rest of the star-studded Autobots and Decepticons in true splendor through three distinct versions: 16x9 Widescreen presentation, the Autobot Matrix of Knowledge presentation featuring trivia and fun facts about the movie itself; and a full-screen edition.
To further commemorate the 20th anniversary of the film, SONY BMG is providing fans with some extra-celebratory content that lets them track back to the true origins of the TRANSFORMERS. After careful consideration and preparation, Sony BMG has scoured the archives for the best TRANSFORMERS-related footage available, and the DVD will include the original commercials for the toy line and movie -- allowing viewers to see how and where the phenomenon began.
TRANSFORMERS: The Movie features the voice of Orson Welles in his final role, as well as stars Eric Idle, Judd Nelson, Leonard Nimoy, Casey Kasem, Robert Stack, John Moschitta, Peter Cullen, and Frank Welker. The DVD also features a winning soundtrack featuring the iconic theme "The TRANSFORMERS" performed by Lion, and the popular "The Touch," performed by Stan Bush. The movie, set in 2005, chronicles the efforts of the heroic Autobots to defend their home of Cybertron from the evil Decepticons and Unicron, a huge robotic creature that devours planets.
