So, lately I've been on a Toy Story kick because seeing a Toy Story video on Coding Secrets got it on my brain again.
It started with getting the Buzz Lightyear spaceship box I'd built some years ago (using a printout kit by Andrew Strappers on DeviantArt) down from the closet, doing some repairs to it, and completing it by actually putting glazing in the canopy (at the time of the original construction, I didn't have big enough pieces of acetate available).
Some photos of the box, including one of my Disney Store Buzz posing with it.
Next major update was getting my collection at the time together for a photo.
Seen here:
* My original childhood Buzz from 1997, absent his head (although that might actually be the head currently on the other Thinkway Buzz) and his jetpack (I took it apart for repairs years ago and don't know where it got to ack). I think his left forearm is sadly lost forever, I'm going to have to come up with a replacement. Going to make it a fancy sci-fi prosthetic of some sort.
* Strummin' Singin' Woody, from 1999. His vest and bandana were stolen by another kid circa 2002, and his holster slipped off the belt.. I forget when, but probably before 2008. I still have his hat, but I couldn't remember where I'd stashed it and I was getting impatient to take the photo. His guitar still works great (including the simulated string breaking)!
* Another Thinkway Buzz, acquired at some point in the 2000s (I think post-2008). The head he's wearing might actually be that of my original Buzz. I think his plastic quality might be slightly lower than the 1997 one... that or he got struck in a particularly bad way. Either way, when I got him out for this photo one of his hip springs was poking out. Hence the aforementioned impatience - I wanted to get the photo taken so I could move on to effecting repairs. His left hand and upper forearm are off as part of an abortive attempt to give him a working communicator.
* A Disney Store Buzz Lightyear (possibly the Hawaiian Vacation version minus the clothes), picked up at a yard sale in either 2013 or 2015, I forget which. Needs a replacement communicator cover, but otherwise good. My current "main" Buzz.
* Toy Story Collection R.C., picked up at a yard sale in 2015. Missing the remote (anyone have a spare?), and the cosmetic antenna mast (he's actually controlled via infrared) was snapped at the time of the photo. I was able to obtain a replacement from Thinkway (but no such luck with the remote).
* One of the squeak-toy "LGM" aliens, from the same sale as R.C. Hasbro version, smaller than screen size.
* Plush Jessie, picked up from a different yard sale that same year. Got her because I didn't have a Jessie at all. Still need a talking one.
* Extremely partial Mr. Potato Head from the right era, picked up at thrift I believe. Might end up just buying another one.
This Monday I had more fun horsing around with Buzz:
I make no apologies for the pun.
That was also the day my collection was joined by a second Woody doll, a movie-size one with a (currently non-working) pullstring voicebox.
I did up a lasso for him. Here he is demonstrating it on
Titans Return Trypticon (because Trypticon was big enough to be a good demo subject, and close at hand)
