Weibo user Geekv5 has posted two in-hand images of upcoming Year of the Horse Optimus Prime, showing off its translucent trailer deco and the blue Energon axe (rather than MP-10's blazing orange). It also seems to confirm that the figure's right shoulder features the Year of the Horse Autobot symbol, rather than remolding the left-hand one. Meanwhile, ACToys have posted a couple of shots of Year of the Horse Starscream, showing him off next to Unicron and towering over other versions of himself! Take a look at the images mirrored below.

YotH Starscream's not half bad in those G1 colors. I might just pick one up if only to display a decently in-scale Starscream beside MP Megatron. Or would he end up towering over MP Megs?

Either way, I just don't quite like his stubby forearms and the lack of articulated fingers on a toy of this size.

geesh, it finally happened, Optimus prime has been turned into a ghetto-mobile with sll that tacky gold chrome and bad pallet of colors overall.

and I agree about Starscream... in this day and age there is no excuse for using a junk mold with crappy proportions and a supreme lack of pose ability.

I totally agree with others who stated that in this day and age a subpar ultimate size figure like this Starscream has no business being utilized :BANG_HEAD: .

I rember he was a major shelf warmer at Target and I ended up getting mine for $17.99 at Target. A year later I turned around and sold it on Ebay for $35.00.

I'm not wasting my money on this huge hunk of plastic. I do kind of like Prime though, but with the gold I would never open him for fear of chipping so both are a pass for me.

Mistransformed in hand images :D Prime's leg flaps are not wrapped around to the front :P
He is interesting to me...I won't afford him but...he looks nice...

Supreme Starscream is chunky and odd around the arms, but I don't regret having him (the original that is) Huge fun toy. Do I wish his arms were better? yes, yes I do. I do agree it's an odd choice to pull out now though.

These pictures need to be cursed forever for yet again making me want MP-11! I have 2 mp screamers already, stop tempting me! :BOOM: And also...wish I had grabbed Takara Unicron...I didn't because official images made him look too black and saturated in colour scheme, but here he looks nice :BOOM:

If it was cheaper, I would probably get horse Prime. I'd love to paint the trailer black and go for a 'G2' inspired crazy look. But I digress.

Wow, I had no idea that SS mold was so freakin big! It looks like it would be a lot of fun to play around with, but the scale would make it tricky for display. I'm not a stickler for scale, but this figure would just look out of place in my display. Essentially it's a jet that's as big as a planet (since it's as big as Cybertron Primus and Unicron.

I'll wait and see if I can get it on sale/clearance down the road. If it doesn't work well in my display, it can be something for nieces/nephews/my future kids to play with. It's probably great for kids since it's big and chunky and doesn't have a complex transformation or little fragile joints.

Well of course he looked like that in the cartoon. The whole point of the cartoon was to advertise the toys. I pay no attention to them. All I care about is what the toys look like on display.

I feel the need to second this. If you wait for BBTS, Amazon, and (maybe) HTS to get them, you will pay less than elsewhere. Do NOT buy from someone sourcing these from the asian market - you will pay too much! These will be domestic, albeit e-tailer, exclusives like the other Platinum editions. No idea if they'll be in TRU.
Re: Year of the Horse Optimus Prime and Starscream - In-hand Images (1533466)
Posted by GuyIncognito on December 5th, 2013 @ 2:20pm CST
In the U.S., the only Platinum figures that TRU has carried have been the ones that were repaints of recent figures: the UM repaint of Prime OP, and repaints of FoC Grimlock and Bruticus. The Platinum figures that are repaints of older figures (Predaking, Omega Supreme, Energon OP) were all sold through Amazon and BBTS. That might just be coincidence, but if I had to bet money on it, I'd put my money on Starscream being an Amazon/BBTS exclusive because it's an older mold, and I'd bet on MP OP being a TRU exclusive because for the past few years ALL the MPs have been TRU exclusives.

If I remember correctly, Optimus is a shared exclusive between BBTS and Toys R Us. I don't think Amazon/HTS will be carrying it. I think I have that right...

I understand people being angry with what Manterax said, and the counterpoints given are very valid, that being said...this part of the conversation had died. There's no need to stir the pot days later "just because".

And I'll be fair... People shouldn't post things like that, provoking others. Believe me, I see the side of those countering the point. I'm just saying, once it's addressed, let it die. Or, better yet, ignore it. Posts like that just lead to trouble.

Believe me, I want you to have your chance to say your piece, I do, but you have to admit, posts like what started this whole thing have the chance to unravel and turn bad quick. Sometimes, it's better to ignore them and just let it slide. Rise above it. I know it's difficult, believe me.

I thought they did a nice job of making him look like a G1 pre-Earth Starscream. He has all the Starcream visual cues, his face is good, his colors are good, he has the weapons on his arms, and his silhouette is undeniably Starscream, ad his alt mode is a triangular flying thing.

Because Prime and his trailer are the main attraction while Roller and Spike are mere afterthoughts?

It is a fact that 100% of the people who purchase Optimus Prime toys do so just to get Roller and they throw the Optimus Prime figure and trailer in the garbage once they've got Roller.

It is also a fact that the above statement is not a fact :P.

I love the clear trailer, but the gold parts just seem... out of place. Like if they wanted to go for gold, they should've adjusted the colors to have it mesh well, y'know?

Of course, this could be Linkin Park's new Bling Bling G-Prime! He's got gold all up in his grill, yo! Yeah, I'm white.

Crap... I also may have just uncovered a conspiracy o_o;

At first I hated this Prime, but it's really growing on me just because of that darker red they used and the black bits in the abdomen don't hurt either. I'd definitely have to paint the gold bits silver if I got him though, or perhaps even black. I bet black chrome would look badass on those metallic parts with this deco.
