That seems to be the case from the second image, but the third one shows them reversed.

Looks like it.Sabrblade wrote:Was Optimus's molded left-shoulder Autobrand remolded into the "Year of the Horse" Autobrand?
The overall color scheme is looking a lot more thought out. I actually like the relatively darker blues combined with the black, silver, and deep red tones.
If you can stand the gold chrome, this might make a nice G2 Prime stand-in.

Oh, and the insignia on different shoulders is probably just because the picture was mirrored. Wouldn't it be cool if they were switchable though and it came with a pair of each?

Megazarak wrote:Hm, I don't have Masterpiece OP (cause they sold out everywhere...) so maybe I should get this guy. The altered insignia is a bit of a pain, but not the end of the world (would have been cool if I'd been a horse, but I'm a monkey, maybe in 2 years we'll get a cool mold for our zodiac figure). I think I'll have to limit myself to a big discount, if that never happens I think I'll just wait for a reissue of regular Prime, which should come eventually.

Though places like TFsource have this guy on preorder for $165+, BBTS has stated that they'll list theirs for cheaper once the official preorder date comes along soon after the New Year - probably around $120, which is reasonable.
Plus, since this is a Platinum Edition and looks very, very Americanized to boot, we'll probably see this at TRU, too.

Platinum Omega Supreme
Platinum Optimus Prime
Platinum Predaking
None of them are available at TRU stores.
The only Platinum figures at TRU, as far as I know, are Ultra Magnus and the Grimlock/Bruticus set.

I was also just going to ask what the symbols were in the insignias, but thought that the Autobot one kind of looked like a stylized version of the Chinese character for horse, 馬 (mǎ). So I looked it up and that's what they are, with the Decepticon one being an older form of the character. Pictured below for reference (the last two). This was probably posted before but I just found out now, and I think it's interesting enough to repost for others who might not know.
That is very cool. Now I'm really hoping Monkey gets a cool figure. Fingers crossed for Masterpiece Optimus Primal! Yes, even though he's an ape.

Canadian TRU stores got these toys, but U.S. TRU stores only got Grimlock/Bruticus and Ultra Magnus.Megazarak wrote:Is that right? I could have sworn I at least saw that Optimus in stores. I'm pretty sure I actually still see him. (Edit: yup, I'm not crazy. http://www.cybertron.ca/boards/showthread.php?t=46315) Don't think I ever saw Omega. And Predaking was/is on the online TRU site (at least in Canada). http://www.toysrus.ca/product/index.jsp ... d=28391916 But sure, I could be wrong. Overall the Platinum figures aren't selling all that well so TRU might not want them anymore (though for the MP-10 mold they'll probably want some).

Ah, I see. Thanks for the info. Strange how that happened. More often than not it's the other way around.

I'm pretty sure the last TRU MP OP was $119.99 or $129.99. I think the Amazon-BBTS exclusive "Platinum" repaint of ENERGON OP was $100 or less, but not the MP OP. IF TRU carries this new MP OP, it will surely be more than $100.
SS, on the other hand, is NOT a MP, so it will probably be priced lower than MP TC. I would expect it to be more in in line with something like Platinum UM: $59.99.

I wonder if this willingness to go clear will result in a ghost MP-11 'Screamer.
Posted by Mindmaster on December 4th, 2013 @ 2:18pm CST
My only thing against Starscream is that I wish the crown had more paint to make the detail pop. But then I guess it would be just a repackage of the original crown.
Just hope they will be available in retail stores. I don't even care if they're at Toys "R" Us again.

No, it's a REPAINT of MP-10. You can like MP-10 and still dislike this repaint.

The black face also reminds me of Prime's appearance is certain Marvel issues.

Yep, I'd personally call it MP-10H or MP-10G. H and G stand for horse and golden respectively.

Also, I have a humble request for HASTAK. Gimme a Prime Screamers in G1 colors.

Wouldn't the bright G1 colors look tacky on a Prime Starscream? I mean, the Prime Arms Micron Thundercracker already walks the thin line between "gaudy" and "not gaudy", but bright red and white might push it over said line.-Kanrabat- wrote:Also, I have a humble request for HASTAK. Either way, I just don't quite like his stubby forearms and the lack of articulated fingers on a toy of this size.
Posted by VioMeTriX on December 5th, 2013 @ 6:58am CST
and I agree about Starscream... in this day and age there is no excuse for using a junk mold with crappy proportions and a supreme lack of pose ability.
Posted by reluctantyouth on December 5th, 2013 @ 7:22am CST
I rember he was a major shelf warmer at Target and I ended up getting mine for $17.99 at Target. A year later I turned around and sold it on Ebay for $35.00.
I'm not wasting my money on this huge hunk of plastic. I do kind of like Prime though, but with the gold I would never open him for fear of chipping so both are a pass for me.

He is interesting to me...I won't afford him but...he looks nice...
Supreme Starscream is chunky and odd around the arms, but I don't regret having him (the original that is) Huge fun toy. Do I wish his arms were better? yes, yes I do. I do agree it's an odd choice to pull out now though.
These pictures need to be cursed forever for yet again making me want MP-11! I have 2 mp screamers already, stop tempting me! And also...wish I had grabbed Takara Unicron...I didn't because official images made him look too black and saturated in colour scheme, but here he looks nice
If it was cheaper, I would probably get horse Prime. I'd love to paint the trailer black and go for a 'G2' inspired crazy look. But I digress.

I'll wait and see if I can get it on sale/clearance down the road. If it doesn't work well in my display, it can be something for nieces/nephews/my future kids to play with. It's probably great for kids since it's big and chunky and doesn't have a complex transformation or little fragile joints.

I'm not a stickler for scale, but this figure would just look out of place in my display. Essentially it's a jet that's as big as a planet (since it's as big as Cybertron Primus and Unicron.

I feel the need to second this. If you wait for BBTS, Amazon, and (maybe) HTS to get them, you will pay less than elsewhere. Do NOT buy from someone sourcing these from the asian market - you will pay too much! These will be domestic, albeit e-tailer, exclusives like the other Platinum editions. No idea if they'll be in TRU.

If I remember correctly, Optimus is a shared exclusive between BBTS and Toys R Us. I don't think Amazon/HTS will be carrying it. I think I have that right...
