Via fellow Seibertronian -Kanrabat-, we have notification of two new video reviews from YouTuber Benscollectables of figures from the recently released Transformers Cyberverse toyline, well ahead of its animated series debut, and featuring simplified versions of iconic character designs - what has been referred to as 'evergreen' designs at times.

After Starscream and Shockwave, previously covered on our front page, it's now time for two Autobots: Bumblebee and Optimus Prime, both in their Warrior/deluxe class size, and both embedded in their reviews below - check them out, and let us know what you think of the four figures so far, and whether you have any interest in this new younger line!

I grew up with the complex engineering from Revenge of the Fallen and learned to solve complex puzzles without instruction. Kids 10 years later will have... this. Just a little disappointed, is all.

Both Bee and Optimus are failing hard. Hollow messes, parts that detach when handling, mechanisms barely working... Is Shockwave the ONLY Warrior that is valid?

Yes. He is the only toy in the line that so far, I've considered buying. The others....no way. Other than this, the revealed Grimlock toy looks cool, but I eonder how he functions. Only reviews of this toyline will probably give me decisions. I may not bother with the line at all though. I thought RID was kiddy, but this is beyond bad.

Yeah, kinda seems that way. Way better articulation and a gimmick that doesn’t get in the way of much else. I will say that the scout class Bumblebee looks kinda alright though, it at least got the door wings right.

(And to throw my hat in the Star Wars ring, TLJ wasn’t that great but the other new movies -at least IMO- are really good. TFA is actually my favorite Star Wars movie!)

I don't know about this line. I don't want to just complain about it being too "kiddy" since I'm an adult collector but man, it's taken a few steps back from RiD 2015. The lack of some vital bit of articulation on all of these guys really bothers me - Starscream has no individual leg movement besides side to side, Bumblebee has badly designed knees that seem designed to only bend for transformation and not during play, Optimus has a permanently bent arm with no hand for his gimmick and he and Shockwave have no head articulation. None of these seem acceptable to me for modern figures at the deluxe scale, especially the head movement - even legends figures have that. And the big 10 inch tall Megatron I can't remember the size class of doesn't have elbows either. I'm not saying kids won't like them because I don't know, but they just don't seem to be very well put together, and I at least remember my favorite Armada toy growing up was that little deluxe Optimus Prime that had a buttload of articulation. So I don't know, I hope the line does improve, but the only figure I'm interested in so far is the big 10 inch Optimus just because he looks simple and fun, his gimmick doesn't interfere with his articulation and he might be fun to paint. The non moving head killed my interest in Shockwave.

So much potential with the designs, but what was wrong with sticking with the RiD Warrior formula? I think there are enough of the others, including the gimmicks, to make the warriors like the RiD ones

My last Comiccon panel was about toys that are incredible which are sold along one that is a total failure. Toys that come from the same line, in the same category. Usually, there's only one total failure. I'll make a thread to share and show this panel to you guys soon enough. Anyway, it's the first time that I see there's only ONE good toy so far in an entire line that fail hard. In the "deluxe" catgory at least.

Even though the scouts are gimmicky messes, they may be better built and be fun to fiddle with. I'm also looking forward how the ultra/voyagers will be like.

We have some more coded or unknown for sure listings over on online retailer Amazon, and specifically its Australian site, for some upcoming Transformers figures and sets that we might end up seeing in person at San Diego Comic Con 2018 next week, with a tentative release date of January 2019.

The first batch are some that appear to be part of the Cyberverse line, under the Power Ram subline or gimmick, probably similar to Crash Combiners from Robots in Disguise, with some additional names like Megatron, Starscream and Bumblebee, including one not seen so far: Prowl. The image below is from the animated series official art, as there is no other stock image yet!

We have a nice roundup of news for the availability of several Transformers Cyberverse toys in three international markets (which are coincidentally all anglophone).

Firstly, these toys have finally appeared in the US. Fans have reported seeing several classes at Target. The classes found were the one steps ($9.99), warrior class ($14.99) and scout class ($7.99), the later one being made up of toys that do not fully transform.

Image

In Canada, the warrior class has also been found. This class has Shockwave, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Starscream. They were found at Toysrus, priced at $19.99 CAD, the same price point as Generations deluxe figures.

Image

Last but not least, fellow Seibertronian ZeroWolf has informed us that the Ultimate Class can now be preordered in the UK through Amazon. This class consists of Optimus Prime and Megatron and is priced at £29.99, which stays true to the trend of UK prices being the same nominal value as the US MSRP but in pounds. The release date is August 1st.

I don't really like the line so far. Only Shockwave voyager and his deluxe spider tank drone. I like them very much but everything else nope.

Anybody get that Jetfire? The simpeler one about voyager sized? I think it's better than the Leader Generations class, it has no fake chest, has decent articulation, simple transformation.
I really hope that one gets the Seekers repaint/remold treatment.
Anyway offtopic.

The Optimus transformation looks great, what I want actually. But voyager sized and not so simple in design. It looks ugly and disproportionate. 16 gbp is expensive for a simplistic small deluxe Transformer.
That thing should be more like 13.

Collectors are getting Transformers War for Cybertron! Not the game, the newest Generations line, which looks awesome so far.

What Shockwave voyager? There is none revealed so far for this line.

EDIT: Reading the rest of your post, I can see the confusion.

There are 2 distinct lines that are not connected. This is cyberverse, for the upcoming show, but the line made up of simlified voyager toys (like Shockwave and Jetfire) is Cyber Battalion, which is part of the Generations line.

You are better to ask your questions about that line in its own different thread: viewtopic.php?t=103590&p=1948216#p1948216

Huh, you know, the scene in the final episode of TF: Prime season 1 where Optimus unleashes the Matrix on Unicron was pretty Guyver-esque, now that you mention it.

Live from the Hasbro floor at San Diego Comic Con, we have our next round of reveal from the Cyberverse line! The reveals for this line include:

Warrior and Scout Windblade

Ultra Shockwave

Ultra Shadow Striker

Warrior Megatron

Warrior Acid Storm

Scout Slipstream

Scout Optimus Prime

And an Optimus prime trailer playset

The seekers are of course redecos of eachother it seems. The most impressive by far is that ultra shockwave, which seems to have decent articulation and a far more imposing spider tank mode. Let us know what else you pick up from these photos and expect more in the coming days from San Diego Comic Con.

How droll. A Windblade with wind-wing blades.

Also, is that a mainline Optimus with a trailer? Well, I'll be. I'm pretty impressed by that alone. Not enough to shell out the cash for it, but impressed nonetheless.

I guess you could count Rescue Bots as a main line. Ironically better than Cyberverse in some aspects.

maybe im a bit of an optimist here but there has to be versions of these toys that are like the main normal line and less gimmicky, if not that would be too bad :(

...so I'm going to guess that if Acid Storm is just a Starscream repaint, he also has no knees right? I guess he left them behind wherever he also left all of the purple his box art claims he should have. And that Ultra Widowmaker Shadow Striker looks like she's at least missing elbows...

I'm really starting to think that the only reason the Shockwaves seem to have full articulation is just because they need it to transform into a quadrupedal alt-mode.

Which is really a shame, because when is Acid Storm ever going to be a main/prominent character again? Probably never...

You were technically correct, WFC is the upcoming Generations line. Cyber Battalion is weird, it just kinda exists as part of Generations concurrently with everything else without ever being explicitly treated as such. I didn't know Cyber Battalion existed until I found some of the figures in a Walgreens while looking for Titans Return exclusives.

Also, next is clearly Transformers: War for Cybertron in Disguise. ;)

Deluxe Megatron looks cute.

Not to happy about the fake chests on the Seekers there. Why can't they not do that?

Anyway, a better solid looking Slipstream. So I'm in for the seekers.

They should remold the Cyber Battalion (sorry for crappy spelling) Jetfire to every single seeker ever.
He's perfect for that.

Spider Tank, love it. Everything else is I think a skip for me.

And that Shockwave looks better than it has any business being.
