That was fast. We only learnt of the G1 Otimus Prime reissue a month ago and it has now been found at US retail. Like the 2018 reissues, this reissue is Walmart exclusive. It is priced at $50 and comes without a trailer, you can find the listing here.
The toy was found across a few states such as New Jersey and Hawaii and Larkin's Lair, who found him in Hawaii, has done a video review of the item showing all the contents for you to enjoy. Let us know if you intend on picking up this Optimus Prime in his minty G1-style packaging.

I was vaguely considering getting this, since my optimus doesn't have any accessories, but I think I'm going to pass on it.

I really like how they are releasing these, and the packaging and figure itself is great. I know people complained about the lack of a trailer, but I don't mind at all. That said, 50$ is steep for me, and as much as I really like it, it is out of my collecting price range. My budget is extremely limited, at 30$ a month, but that Soundwave might be the one exception to this, I NEED that guy.

Fifty bones? Yeah, fuck that. The 3 other reissues and 1 original Primes I have are good enough.

Wow, that WAS fast.

Same size box as Hotrod, no trailer, and they want $50 for it. Come on son.

I'm buying one for sure. If it was $30 or $35 I would have bought two.

$100AUD through an Australian based online retailer.

As much as I'd like it, I simply cannot justify that much money.

A big deal was made out of him not having the trailer. I don't think it's that big of a deal. Yeah, when in his vehicle mode, he looks incomplete. But most times his displayed in bot mode and the trailer just becomes fluff that doesn't display well with a group of other bots.

What I do think is a big deal is the price. He is about the same size as Starscream which was $35, yet he is $50. Why? I think it's just because of the name. He is the ultimate Transformer. Fortunately I already have a G1 reissue from years back, I don't need another.

$50 USD for that? And no trailer? I can't tell if there's any significant deco changes and I don't know what accessories he comes with but surely he's not worth that price, even if he may be the Optimus Prime.

And don't forget, he has rubber tires too. Pretty sure Hot Rod didn't have those. That second gun might also be a factor

It saddens me that box turned an auto-buy (pun intended) into a straight up "nope" from me. Maybe a second run will remove the weirdness with the grey, but I doubt that.

A pity.

$50 with no trailer or roller, but with TWO guns ... :BANG_HEAD: Also, the grey/gray on OP for the stripe looks weirdly metallic.

Okay is it just me, the video or what, but does the red on OP look rather pink-ish?

I'm soo glad that I found a 100% complete authentic G1 pre-rubsign in a rather worn box for $100 at the toy show an hour away from me. Saves me from buying things like this.

Not as pink as me. :-D .

In all seriousness - pink toned reissue Primes have been a 'thing' in the past - with the TRU G1 reissue in the past (sporting a pale grey trailer) and G2 Prime to mention a couple. Its worth noting they're never going to get the same red as the original as that particular pigment isn't as prevalent anymore - its not lightfast, which is why 80s red cars (the dominant force globally in choosing which pigments get mined\grown\sourced) faded in sunlight and modern ones don't as much (or in most cases - at all).

Its the normal silver stripe, but when its brand new - it always looks gloriously metallic. I can still remember my old Prime as a kid having that glorious sheen.

I was about to say that, but professionalism held me back. Not that I'd dare say otherwise of you, Burn Image

Y'know - I came up with a valid reason why its a no trailer release. The current string of reissues is part of an 80s hype build up for Bumblebee and in the live-action movies - Optimus Prime isn't exactly known for hauling is trailer around all the time.

But in the Bee movie he did have his trailer, his truck mode wasn't seen without it, IIRC.

True, but across the movie franchise, its not a necessary part of him, which was more my point. A lot of kids these days don't always see Optimus Prime and expect a trailer.

Got it. But if we were speaking strictly 80s hype for the Bee movie, then he should come with a trailer, as he did in the 80s and as he was in the only movie (so far) set in the 80s. :-D

Seibertron.com member Fc203 has directed us to InDemandToy's Facebook page which has a post revealing two more future Walmart Vintage G1 Reissues – Gears and Warpath! They will be joining the upcoming Soundwave and the already released Optimus Prime reissues. Two minibots certainly don't make a case, though, so we will have to wait and see which other diminutive Autobots join them. We have mirrored the images below and the original post can be found here on InDemandToy's Facebook Page.

I wonder if the next Minibots we'll see are Huffer, Powerglide, and Cosmos. They, along with Gears, Warpath, and Bumblebee, were all part of another multi-pack of Minibots Takara released back in 2004 as part of "The Transformers Collection." It is a little bit of a shame, though, that they released the "Encore" versions of Bumblebee, Outback, Tailgate, and Swerve first, so now we're spoiled by updated G1 toys with new, improved sculpting and more extensive paint details. It looks like Gears is his original G1 toy self, featuring a mostly feature-less face.

Looking forward to Soundwave. Don’t need Optimus, got the 2008 reissue to scratch that itch.

Anyway if they do four Minibots again my money's on Pipes and Bumblebee again.

The only surprising Minibot reissues would be Beachcomber, Hubcap, or Bumblejumper. Cliffjumper and Brawn to a lesser extent since there were the various keychain reissues. Kudos to them on these for putting out stuff not reissued outside of Japan!

Somebody said that somebody said that single cassettes are coming, maybe that's why we've only seen Warpath and Gears so far. If we only got two then who would people pick? I'm thinking Ravage and Laserbeak since I wouldn't want them to split up Frenzy and Rumble and can't see them releasing both if we only got two slots.

As far as the mini-vehicles go, the only two I really "need" are Warpath, Powerglide, and Pipes to complete my childhood collection, but of course I want all of them.

Same here. Ratbat is one of the cassettes I'm missing, and I don't want to pay the prices I've seen for an authentic one. Still hope to get a G1 Soundwave, but just have to see what the reissue looks like in person and what the price is at the time.

Whoops, forgot the G1 Prime comment...
I'm sure mine is authentic, as I had three of my local TF retailers try to buy it off of me as soon as they saw that it was pre-rubsign. I've also checked the TFW2005 board on the KO/reissue issue, and mine's passed all of the checks for being authentic.

I am not a fan of the price either but the outrage here is kinda nuts, especially when it seems people forgot how much Prime with a Trailer actually cost last time it was released in the US.

The 25th Anniversary was $69.99, 10 years ago. That's $85 USD today. Would people preffer paying that if they included the trailer?

yep and it's "reasonably" priced when calculating vs the original 80's price using an inflation calculator. That's also not taking into account the prices of raw materials and that they probably produce thee in smaller batches than back then. Is the price inflated? sure but defo not as bad as people seem to actually believe (imo at least..). And yeah think we are savvy enough to wait / hope it comes down in price...

So the trailer and Roller would cost another $35, even though they make up 2/3 of the whole thing? Prime by himself should be $35, and the $50 difference should come with the trailer and Roller.

The trailer is a hollow plastic box. Optimus alone is a more-complex metal Rubik's Cube on rubber-tired wheels. The parts count and material quality on Optimus alone is significantly higher.

I understand the resistance to the price. In fact, I'd say it's more the incompleteness of the product & price combination. Even adjusting for inflation, I doubt a full Optimus Prime would cost $85 USD today, considering the Devaststor set was only $75, and Prime as a whole logically should never cost more than a combiner giftset, during any time period. I believe the TRU Commemorative Series version in 2002 was $40 or $50???-That was the last one I purchased.

That 25th anniversary version also came with a reproduction comic (retail cost probably $3-$4), and DVD, which WAS sold on its own at a retail price of $10 (I know DVD's devalue over time, but in 2009, this was a standard price for a DVD of that type) and extra packaging. A Full on Optimus Prime reproduction faithful to the original one, with original style packaging I could easily see for $65-70 even in todays market.

So the trailer and Roller would cost another $35, even though they make up 2/3 of the whole thing? Prime by himself should be $35, and the $50 difference should come with the trailer and Roller.

Why are you ignoring the material used or density or parts count?
The trailer is a big empty box made of plastic, that being $50 would be the bigger outrage, no? We dont know what the distribution of value is.

But thats not the point, the idea is that people are expecting to pay $50 for a complete Prime when that wasnt even the case in the previous reissue. I think people would bitch and moan about a complete prime being $85 just as much as they are right now, based on what I am seeing online.

Okay, take it easy. I wasn't disagreeing. I know about materials and parts count. But you also have to consider the size of the trailer and how much shelf space it would take up. Retailers take that into consideration.

Probably. I don't know if I would want to pay that much. Devastator was just released and he cost $75. The box was bigger than Prime with a trailer would be, and he had more parts.

I'd just like to pitch in my two cents and say the $50 price tag is fine and if the box didn't have that ugly great bit of grey where it had no business being, then I'd have gladly paid it.
