Somebody said that somebody said that single cassettes are coming, maybe that's why we've only seen Warpath and Gears so far. If we only got two then who would people pick? I'm thinking Ravage and Laserbeak since I wouldn't want them to split up Frenzy and Rumble and can't see them releasing both if we only got two slots.

As far as the mini-vehicles go, the only two I really "need" are Warpath, Powerglide, and Pipes to complete my childhood collection, but of course I want all of them.

Being the most famous it would be likely that Ravage and Laserbeak would be done first. Though I would love to see Ratbat done

Same here. Ratbat is one of the cassettes I'm missing, and I don't want to pay the prices I've seen for an authentic one. Still hope to get a G1 Soundwave, but just have to see what the reissue looks like in person and what the price is at the time.

Whoops, forgot the G1 Prime comment...
I'm sure mine is authentic, as I had three of my local TF retailers try to buy it off of me as soon as they saw that it was pre-rubsign. I've also checked the TFW2005 board on the KO/reissue issue, and mine's passed all of the checks for being authentic.

You know, as a kid I never made the connection between the G1 Sideswipe toy my brother passed down to me and the characters in the Beast Wars show on TV, until Michael Bay had Sideswipe as a Corvette.

I like how he placed the fists into the cab in vehicle mode. It seems like the people who did that as kids were the ones who still had the fists as adults with the first release.

I am not a fan of the price either but the outrage here is kinda nuts, especially when it seems people forgot how much Prime with a Trailer actually cost last time it was released in the US.

The 25th Anniversary was $69.99, 10 years ago. That's $85 USD today. Would people preffer paying that if they included the trailer?

yep and it's "reasonably" priced when calculating vs the original 80's price using an inflation calculator. That's also not taking into account the prices of raw materials and that they probably produce thee in smaller batches than back then. Is the price inflated? sure but defo not as bad as people seem to actually believe (imo at least..). And yeah think we are savvy enough to wait / hope it comes down in price...
My personal prime collection so far in descending order of how great i reckon the toy is -
FE Prime, Silas Breakdown (Powerizer), Dreadwing (Powerizer), FE Bulkhead, Voyager StarScream (Powerizer), Ratchet, Soundwave, Arcee, Voyager Megatron (Powerizer), Wheeljack, Thundertron (Powerizer), Ultra Magnus (Powerizer), Knockout, Cliffjumper, Bumblebee,Airachnid

So the trailer and Roller would cost another $35, even though they make up 2/3 of the whole thing? Prime by himself should be $35, and the $50 difference should come with the trailer and Roller.

The trailer is a hollow plastic box. Optimus alone is a more-complex metal Rubik's Cube on rubber-tired wheels. The parts count and material quality on Optimus alone is significantly higher.

I understand the resistance to the price. In fact, I'd say it's more the incompleteness of the product & price combination. Even adjusting for inflation, I doubt a full Optimus Prime would cost $85 USD today, considering the Devaststor set was only $75, and Prime as a whole logically should never cost more than a combiner giftset, during any time period. I believe the TRU Commemorative Series version in 2002 was $40 or $50???-That was the last one I purchased.

That 25th anniversary version also came with a reproduction comic (retail cost probably $3-$4), and DVD, which WAS sold on its own at a retail price of $10 (I know DVD's devalue over time, but in 2009, this was a standard price for a DVD of that type) and extra packaging. A Full on Optimus Prime reproduction faithful to the original one, with original style packaging I could easily see for $65-70 even in todays market.

Why are you ignoring the material used or density or parts count?
The trailer is a big empty box made of plastic, that being $50 would be the bigger outrage, no? We dont know what the distribution of value is.

But thats not the point, the idea is that people are expecting to pay $50 for a complete Prime when that wasnt even the case in the previous reissue. I think people would bitch and moan about a complete prime being $85 just as much as they are right now, based on what I am seeing online.

Okay, take it easy. I wasn't disagreeing. I know about materials and parts count. But you also have to consider the size of the trailer and how much shelf space it would take up. Retailers take that into consideration.

Probably. I don't know if I would want to pay that much. Devastator was just released and he cost $75. The box was bigger than Prime with a trailer would be, and he had more parts.

I'd just like to pitch in my two cents and say the $50 price tag is fine and if the box didn't have that ugly great bit of grey where it had no business being, then I'd have gladly paid it.

Getting back to individual cassette releases, all I really want to see right now is Rumble and Frenzy. I've got the SDCC 2009 "25th Anniversary" G1 Soundwave giftset, which game with Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Ravage, and Ratbat. All that's missing is "Red Tape Guy" and "Blue Tape Guy" in my collection. (Yes, I'll probably be passing on this new Soundwave reissue with Buzzsaw. It's redundant for me.) My fear, though, is that we won't get individual releases of Rumble and Frenzy, or even a two pack of them. Soundwave was packaged with Buzzsaw originally in G1, and I bet Hasbro will follow suit with the rest of the tape buddies, meaning we'll get original styled 2-packs like Rumble & Ravage and Frenzy & Laserbeak.

To some, the vintage matters too, like a fine wine. Therefore, younger vintage should be priced lower, like this reissue right here.

But the vintage is not mint while this new one is. Does that not cancel out the vintage aspect? I totally get the added value on it being original for a complete toy, but incomplete used G1 toys that have reissues are not that high in demand. And we have numbers backing that up. All loose G1 toy prices dropped heavily once reissues were available (best example being Fort Max).

Honestly, if anything the reissues have helped some of the G1 toys reach the "Complete" status. A couple of stores I buy TFs from admit, and will label with a reduced price, that if they have an authentic G1 that they picked up in pieces they have used reissue parts to reassemble the original. Albeit they only do this when they absolutely have to, but it has allowed them to keep their costs down by reducing the size of their store/storage and markup on their G1s.

I only made the comment about the price of the reissue because I'm collecting on a budget, and I'm one of those people that cannot wrap my head around a G1 OP without the trailer and Roller.
You know, as a kid I never made the connection between the G1 Sideswipe toy my brother passed down to me and the characters in the Beast Wars show on TV, until Michael Bay had Sideswipe as a Corvette.

Do they make potential buyers aware of that?

Because if I'm going for an original, I'd want original parts.
