You may remember the article we posted last week concerning the new Transformers Universe Mini-Con blind packs that have been found in the UK. Well apart of being, as of yet, exclusive to the UK we do know that there are variants.

There is one variation each Mini-Con has setting it apart from the original release and that is the Copyright stamp. The original versions of these Mini-Cons had a TakaraTomy and a Hasbro Copyright stamp, while these have just a Hasbro Copyright stamp. A Minor difference but it's still a difference, if you care for it.

However there are 3 real variants, one of which is not just a repaint but also a remould!

What follows is the complete list of Mini-Cons that are available in the set, including the variants and mis-assembled figures.

Note that this list is based on figures that have been found and that there may be a chance, a very slight chance, that there are additional variants. Should this be the case we will update you on this!

If you're a Mini-Con collector living outside of the UK and are interested in owning the variants you can ask our UK board members if they want to help you out, you can do this by clicking here and posting in the thread!

Another grate thank you for Wasp-shot23, for pointing out the release of the blisters and finding the first Variant, JJelZe GoldRabbit for his extensive Mini-con knowledge and keen eye, Mr.O and Phill_D for providing comparisons and second opinions as needed, Pretender Skywarp for organizing and putting together the list and providing two more variants!

And of course to all those who competed in the hunt for the variants.

I would absolutely LOVE it if someone were able to help me out w/ the 3 variants that have been located thus far (Brimstone, Bodyblock & Cloudraker). I would be more than happy to gift a buyer a PayPal payment for the figures, shipping + a little extra for helping out a fellow Mini-Con collector that just happens to live in the U.S.

If anyone is willing and can help me out please e-mail me directly: flywheels@yahoo.com

I'd like to throw my hat into the ringer for these as well. I'd preferably like to buy an unopened box that these come in as I'd prefer to open them myself. I know they're blind-packed, but buying a whole box should help ensure that I get a complete set.

I'd obviously like to photograph these and document them for everyone to see. Which means I'd actually have to finally do the original versions of these that I've been putting off for a rainy (snowy?) day.

You know what? I'm gonna go with Ryan on this, if anyone can get me a box as well i'll grab one.

Just remember, i'm in Australia so we actually DO get TF's out here, so if there's something you want let me know and i'll see if I can help you out as well.

I'd see what I can do but tesco petrol station staff are not the kind to gladly help a customer by digging out the whole box or bothering to order another in for someone. Actually I don't know how you'd be able to get a whole unopened case... I'd love to say I'd send you guys some as a swap for reveal the shield stuff but I don't think I'd be able to get my hands on the quantities you're looking at. (god we need jazz so much more than 3 variant mini-cons...)

if I get any duplicates, I'll let people know through either the uk sightings forum or here. Pm me if you want them (that's if I get any, I've already got the original 12 pack so there isn't really a reason for me to actively hunt these down.)

Same here, I'm totally up for supplying (or swapping for anybody's own spare mini-cons!) if there are any left in my local shop.

The first Brimstone I find is mine though, I love that mould. That reminds me, I'm after Classics Nightscream, and I'll gladly do a swap for one of these new guys!

I live in the US. Got plenty of minicons to trade. Looking for at least the three variants. Would like a complete set of twelve if available. Let me know.

Tesco Express/Petrol Station actually get them delivered on the hanging strips. The best chance to get a full box is from The Entertainer if they have any left.

I found a heavytread last night, only difference is the new one looks crappier. The face sculpt has degenerated and the colour looks off (but not different).
Plus I just noticed on the back of the packet where the figures are shown it says "colours may vary".

OK I sent a message to The Little Factor asking how many Blind Packs were in each case, and if a full set was obtainable from a case.

Here's the reply they gave me;

"In each outer of 10 packs there are a reasonable spread of the 12 figures to collect. They are currently on sale in Tesco Petrol Stations but other distribution will be available in January leading up to the next movie launch in July 2011. The figures are a duplication of the range previously available in America and Australia."

so basically, "we don't know, this isn't the management speak you're looking for"? :(
more distribution is good news though.

I picked up a couple tonight. Makeshift and Backstop, who seem to be the same as the ones on the back of the pack.

At least you got a reply, they just bloody ignored me.

So these come in sets of ten, with nothing shortpacked?

The bit where they say these are a duplication of ones already available in the USA and Oz, well they're not are they? We've found three different just by looking over a few days!!
Fancy that, a UK based company, selling Transformers, that doesn't know their product range. Remind you of anyone? ;-p

I just figured out Backstop comes packaged mistranformed. I kept taking the legs off (one had popped off in the bag) and swapping them about, then finally realised how they were meant to be in vehicle mode.

Another thing, I don't know anything much about these TFs, but the picture of Makeshift shows his "hands" reversed from the way they are on my version. Could be the picture is just flipped, or maybe he's been assembled as an "ultra-rare exclusive variant"?

As it is, I'm not sure I like these for the money more than I would a 2 packs of oversized KO Mini-cons that are in Poundland right now, but they're actually a lot bigger than the Mini-cons I remember from the Armada days, and fairly decent so far. The Tesco garage I got them in also had My Little Pony packages of the same sort of size, y'know in case anyone is actually buying these as stocking stuffers for kids.

I'd managed to completely miss that these were around until the thread got dredged up yesterday. Picked up 12 packs this morning and got 9 of the 12 figures. I've already got the original releases so have spent the morning comparing the figures and noting down the (mostly REALLY minor) differences for the more obsessive Minicon collectors out there. Of particular interest is that I've spotted a further 2 remoulds that nobody seems to have mentioned on Knockdown and Skyhammer. I've not found Backstop, Cloudraker or Boltflash yet but here are my observations on the rest.

Bodyblock - aside from the obvious colour change on the suspension the red plastic is a slightly lighter shade and the gold paint is a more green shade of gold. There is some evidence of mould degredation with slightly less definition in some of the cast detailing. The paint aps are really sloppy on mine but that will vary from figure to figure.

Heavytread - near identical. The plastic is a slightly deeper red and the silver paint is slightly brighter.

Makeshift - near identical. The off white paint aps are a tiny bit lighter than the first release and the hands are assembled the other way around to on previous versions of the mould.

Knockdown - REMOULDED, the ribbing on the sides of the hopper is replaced with a flat surface, the underside of the hopper retains the ribbing, The silver paint is a little lighter and the purple paint a little daker, the silver paint on the face is applied a little differently with the face painted across it's full width but not applied into the eyes, the head on mine is attatched at an odd angle leaning too far forward and giving him Universe Ironhide syndrome although this does show off his 'horns' more when looked at straight on.

Flatfoot - probably the closest to identical, only difference I could see was a very slightly deeper shade of metallic blue paint.

Suppressor - more lime yellow plastic, very slightly brighter yellow paint, the red paint is a touch darker and on mine noticably neater than on the first release, noticable mould degredation with less definition on the face. I did think there was a slight remould on the thighs but comparing it to both of my pevious versions of the mould realised that the sprue cut area on this one is just incredibly neat, the previous versions are pretty scarred in comparison.

Brimstone - already covered, but irritatingly mine has a serious miscast with the whole right foreleg of the dragon seriously mangled.

Blight - barely noticable differences in the green plastic and silver paint colours, mould degredation particularly noticable on the face. At least the chest is good, my first release version is a little warped on one side.

Skyhammer - REMOULD the tabs on the underside of the arms are longer than on previous releases of the mould, the blue plastic is more muted than on the first release and the usual misassembly issues were evident. Mine came with 2 left hands.

I realise that most of this is really finickity but having put the time into going over them thought I'd share. Will pick some more up next week as at the least I'm looking for a better quality Brimstone and a Cloudraker so will post any further observations and a list of my doubles then if anybody is still after them internationally.

@Waaaaghlord - Dude, you a seriously keen eye..... :APPLAUSE:

I've checked both my Knockdowns and you'e bloody right, I can't believe I missed it.

In reagrds to the paint apps yes you are being picky (:P ) and I hd spotted a few, but I wasn't sure how many of them were down to sloppy QC on Hasbro's part, still great job.

If you're a Mini-Con enthusiast you raised an eyebrow when we released, what we thought, was a complete list of variants of the UK exclusive Mini-Con Sweet (Candy) figures back in December.
However, seibertron.com member waaaaghlord has just recently taken a close look at the figures and compared them to their original releases, and found a few more minor differences. Now most of these differences are very minor, but we're going to post them anyway, since the information might be useful to Min-Con completionists.
There might be even more since waaaaghlord currently only has 9 out of 12 figures.
Here's the new list of diffrences:

Knockdown - REMOULDED, the ribbing on the sides of the hopper is replaced with a flat surface, the underside of the hopper retains the ribbing, The silver paint is a little lighter and the purple paint a little darker, the silver paint on the face is applied a little differently with the face painted across it's full width but not applied into the eyes, the head on mine is attached at an odd angle leaning too far forward and giving him Universe Ironhide syndrome although this does show off his 'horns' more when looked at straight on.

Flatfoot - probably the closest to identical, only difference I could see was a very slightly deeper shade of metallic blue paint.

Suppressor - more lime yellow plastic, very slightly brighter yellow paint, the red paint is a touch darker and on mine noticeably neater than on the first release, noticeable mould degradation with less definition on the face. I did think there was a slight remould on the thighs but comparing it to both of my previous versions of the mould realised that the sprue cut area on this one is just incredibly neat, the previous versions are pretty scarred in comparison.

Blight - barely noticeable differences in the green plastic and silver paint colours, mould degradation particularly noticeable on the face.

Skyhammer - REMOULD the tabs on the underside of the arms are longer than on previous releases of the mould, the blue plastic is more muted than on the first release.

And just like back then, you can click here to join in on the discussion and maybe even find someone willing to help you out with a set.

I want 2 sets of 12, in baggies, outer wrapping is not necessary. I am willing to buy from you those 24 mini-cons as well as any duplicates you acquire as you track them down (so there won't be any effect on your wallet. If you would like a "finders fee" please name your price. I will pay shipping of coarse. Please, please let me know. It is critical that I have these for my collection.

Thank you.

Also, if any of you guys live near eachother and want to put together 2 sets, and split the funds accordingly, I wouldn't be bothered.

i feel, i should probably point out that any differences to the original figures (apart from the 3 true variants) is tiny, waaaghlord has a supreme eye for detail that goes unmatched as far as i know but it is extemely hard to tell differneces between most of the new figures and their original releases. (if you don't count mold degradation)
if you have the money to spend on what are essentially 9 figures you already own and 3 slightly different variants, then go for it, but it will take a good while for you to acquire a full set of duplicates. and at about £2 a pop, it's gonna end up costing you.
2 X 24 + duplicates = £60 at best = $65- 70? and that's without shipping and finders fees.

I can vouch for the removal of that ridging on Knockdown, I was only taking notice of new deco's when we did this but the two do look different side by side. As for the rest tho' very difficult to discern between variants and sloppy paint apps.

What have you started Waaaghlord???!!!!

Many thanks for the front page Siegfried. Yes, most of the colour differences with the first releases are tiny and only really of interest to the hardcore Minicon collector. Not sure how many more I'll be able to grab locally. There's another strip at my local Tesco but the girl in there reckoned that they were discontinued and wouldn't be getting any more in.

You may have heard of "The Rikkomba Collection", well, I am now the very proud owner of that collection. Aside from Dragoyell and 2 lucky draws, I have all of the mini-cons. Variations as small as paint apps to as large as plastic chemistry (micron legend star sabers and skyboom shields with glittery plastic) are included. Microns, mini-cons and everything that fits into the category is budgeted.

To be clear, I want no less than two (2) complete sets of twelve (12) UK mini-cons totaling twenty-four (24) UK mini-cons. As these are blind packed, I understand the likelihood of duplicates and will not burden the wasper with reselling them. I will buy all duplicates you open while trying to reach the goal of 24 mini-cons. Finders fees will be paid as well as shipping.

Gah tuh kah chem all.

well, sorry but i was trying to say i can't help. thanks very much for the offer but i can't see how i'll be able to go wasping for you in the forseeable future. (i can't find any mini-cons round my neck of the woods anymore).
i'm afraid you'll have to look elsewhere, and so i throw the gauntlet down to my fellow UK seibertronians.
i would by all means let you have heavytread on his own though...

We can put the call out in the ODB and see if we can help out as a group. I'm up to 3 bagged spares at the moment and can get hold of about another 10 locally but it might take a few of us to help out with 2 full sets. Should be handy for getting all of us up to a full set if we're looking too. Out the door to work shortly, but will put the call out tonight.

Ok. I'm more of a lurker than an active member but this is worth reporting. UK members should check out their local Morrisons supermarkets. Picked a few up today and got Heavytread, Suppressor and Boltflash. Heavytread's hip joints were broke out of package... oh, and the "energon" sweets taste like crap =/

To our US readers, sweets is the British word for candy.
He has also supplied us with a photo of one of the blind-packs:

The Mini-Cons inside of these packs are supposed to have different decoes than their original KMart release, also these blind-packs might be exclusive to the UK as the sweets inside are UK made.
One pack costs GBP 1.99, Wasp-shot23 found his at a Tesco service station.
There are 12 Mini-Cons to collect.
Here are some more images showing the difference between the original and new UK Brimstone:

So, sweets to the sweet!

They had cloudrake!

ahh, i love how people use my word!
tfwiki won't let me make an article for a definition of it though as "it's only used on one forum about five times" oh well.

I didn't manage to get out of town to a Morrisons today and will be pulling overtime tomorrow, but did clear out the last of my local Tesco's stock. Managed to replace my dodgy Brimstone and add Boltflash to the tally, still looking for Backstop and Cloudraker. I'll do the rest of the comparisons and try to add photos of side by sides with the previous versions once I've got them all in hand. The rest of the spares have been added to the pile I'm building for JRFitzpatrick7, getting close to the goal of 2 full bagged sets now. If anyone can help with the last few, or the guys I'm still missing to finish off the comparison article give me a shout.

Hey all!!

Im not much of a forum person but was doing some research on these sweets and the only proper information I can find is on this site. So Ive joined up to share :), and to be honest I probably should have anyway as I do use this site quite a bit for my collection.
Enough dribble, I was wondering if people still wanting/collecting these??

I hadnt seen them before at all until last week at a Tesco petrol station. And I asked about whether they were new in, or were old stock found in the warehouse (the store has just had a re-vamp) and I was told they were new in. But im still not sure as the copyright year is 2010, but the best before date is May 2012.

Ive picked up quite a few and have a set of 8 different ones now. If anyone out there wants/needs them, I will happily go buy the rest, unless they have been rolled out across the whole of the uk again. Anyone else know?

So if you are interested, let me know. I know I can get at least 10 more packets, and I can leave them sealed and post them wherever. Hope someone reads this!

THANKS!

Magical Trevor
