I was just coming on to report about Bodyblock being different.

I picked up some today.

1 x Brimstone - Woo Hoo, Dragoyell you have a bit of competition.
1 x Bodyblock - Noticed the plastic change right away
1 x Blight - Looks Identical
1 x Knockdown - Looks Identical
1 x Makeshit - Looks Identical
2 x Backstop - Both in bits in the pack, and assembled incorrectly.

Yeah, sorry for the tardiness. Blight looks identical but for the silver bit under the exhaust pipe. The box version has the word Takara in raised lettering on the left hand side whereas the sweets version lacks this but says Hasbro on the right, it's not much but it is a difference.

Yea on the original it says Takara on one side, and Hasbro (And something else) on the other.

On the Blindpack one it just says Hasbro.

Thanks for that mate, I see exactly what you were saying now.

Since this is only a copyright/stamping difference and there are no deco changes as we've seen with the others (which is what we've been recording), I'm not tempted to call this a variant in line with our list.

What do you guys think?

As an aside, why have WE got them?

I'm not sure I'd call it a variant, it's certainly not enough to make it worth hunting down. As for why we've got them I put it down to overstock as a result of incompetent distribution combined with the perfect stocking filler impulse buy effect. To coin a phrase.

It had been confirmed a few months ago that they were meant to be Hasbro Asia exclusives.

Strange that they have UK fizzy sweets however, when Asian blind-packs like that tend to have those flavourless mint style sweets.

Has anyone tried contacting The Little Factory to see what their side of the story is with them?

Yes, I emailed them last week to see if they could assist with supply or photos of repaints, not had anything back at all. Using the feedback from Mr.O, I'm not calling Blight a variant as he hasnot been repainted. I'll edit the page 5 post asap.

All samples have now been found and the list is complete, leaving Mini-con collectors three UK exclusives to find. Now if we can just get that Generations 8pk too ;-p

DM, looking forward to that article, please feel free to change the names of those variants if you want. I was trying to be descriptive so people knew what they were looking for, if you (or any of you for that matter) have any better ideas then go for it!

Variants of Transformers Universe: Mini-Con sweet figures

Postby Dead Metal » Mon Dec 13, 2010 8:00 am

Motto: "Don't do drugs, beer's cheaper anyway!"
You may remember the article we posted last week concerning the new Transformers Universe Mini-Con blind packs that have been found in the UK. Well apart of being, as of yet, exclusive to the UK we do know that there are variants.

There is one variation each Mini-Con has setting it apart from the original release and that is the Copyright stamp. The original versions of these Mini-Cons had a TakaraTomy and a Hasbro Copyright stamp, while these have just a Hasbro Copyright stamp. A Minor difference but it's still a difference, if you care for it.

However there are 3 real variants, one of which is not just a repaint but also a remould!

What follows is the complete list of Mini-Cons that are available in the set, including the variants and mis-assembled figures.

Note that this list is based on figures that have been found and that there may be a chance, a very slight chance, that there are additional variants. Should this be the case we will update you on this!

Safeguard Team

Flatfoot - No known variant at time of writing (Sample found).
Heavytread - No known variant at time of writing (Sample found).
Makeshift- No known variant at time of writing (Sample found).

Overcast Team

Boltflash - No known variant at time of writing (Sample found).
Cloudraker - "Remoulded Rotor/Vibrant Green" Variant found 12thDec2010 .
Skyhammer- No known variant found at time of writing, but all samples misassembled (Sample found).

Landslide Team

Backstop - No known variant at time of writing (Sample found).
Bodyblock - "Orange Suspension" Variant found 12thDec2010.
Knockdown - No known variant at time of writing (Sample found).

Ransack Team

Blight - No known variant at time of writing (Sample found).
Brimstone - "Green Dragon" Variant found 07thDec2010.
Supressor - No known variant at time of writing (Sample Found).

Here is another good look at the UK exclusive variants

Cloudraker:

If you're a Mini-Con collector living outside of the UK and are interested in owning the variants you can ask our UK board members if they want to help you out, you can do this by clicking here and posting in the thread!

Another grate thank you for Wasp-shot23, for pointing out the release of the blisters and finding the first Variant, JJelZe GoldRabbit for his extensive Mini-con knowledge and keen eye, Mr.O and Phill_D for providing comparisons and second opinions as needed, Pretender Skywarp for organizing and putting together the list and providing two more variants!

And of course to all those who competed in the hunt for the variants.
