Bruticus is a Decepticon Combiner made from the Combaticons Onslaught, Swindle, Brawl, Vortex and Blast Off. As an extra bonus, a Legends Class Shockwave figure is included so that you can recreate those classic scenes from the Generation One episode "The Revenge of Bruticus". This giftset presents all 6 of these characters in classic Generation 2 colors. Of special note is Shockwave, whose color scheme homages his 1990 G1 Action Master counterpart.
While an exact date was not specified for this product's release date, we're estimating some time around next summer (early 3rd quarter). As more information about this product becomes available, we will be sure to share it with all of you. Stay tuned to Seibertron.com for all of your latest Transformers news and information!

Without a doubt that's why. It was the First thing I thought of when I heard what they were doing
I'll be honest, it was one of the first things I thought of when I saw it, so they're not too far off base
Can't wait to get my hands on the torso dude, it's a complete shame they're using 2 of the crappy brawl mold (can't believe I'm saying this already for it )

There are certainly ways of making it look like Liokaiser collectively, at the cost of the torso bots.
The problem is that a vehicle that turns into a beast is unlike most other bots outside of the current RID line. More suited to a Hatchet or, dare I say, a Purple Griffin. Heck, with retooling and replacing the shuttle, you could make an argument for Hun-Grrr.

Yeah, I mean, they could have just remolded a combiner head for cyclonus (better his alt mode than a concorde...) but I am looking forward to this - so long as the mold doesn't blow a'la brawl - as it really intrigues me, I wonder if it will have painted trousers to emulate jalguar? Probably not, hasbro's been pretty stingy with extra paint apps, oh well

But that Shockwave...his colours are somehow MORE tasteful than the regular Shockwave. I'm sorry, but this is inexcusable. He shoulda been bright magenta with orange highlights, or at least coloured like Energon Sixshot. G2 without horrendously vulgar colour schemes is like cheesecake without any cheese.
(In all seriousness though, he does look pretty nice.)
What's wrong with CW Brawl by the way, and is there any way of fixing him? I mean, I'm planning on getting the UW version, so hopefully based Takara will fix him...

There appears to be no method to connect brawls pelvis securely to his torso, it's basically blitzwing syndrome in his spine.
Also, retconning sixshot as G2 shockwave would have been pretty awesome, as his deco was pretty garish already...

Apparently it's an issue that, because of the hinge on his hips, there's an unintended large gap between his chest and hips (no abdomen). The G2 image shows the hips hinged differently to fill the gap, but they don't lock together.
I can see this aggravating a child trying to play with it more than an adult displaying it, where he's either always combined or part of a group. Personally, I don't mind and I'll just fiddle with it to get a good look.

Well, it's more the point that they (has/tak, as both helped design them I imagine) let this happen, that they intentionally let another blitzwing out into the market...
Unless it interferes somehow with a limb-mode, there had to be a way to lock the parts together, even if they changed the current pelvis to the mis-transformed one, and put a clip there to lock it together.

There is some sort of handle down where the underside of the chest will be, around the arm area. Not sure what it looks like yet, but there will be a 5mm handle somewhere there

Right, an combiner with a lackluster scattershot, and a nosecone with no abs... pass.
What I don't get is that there are a metric f@#k-ton of combiners coming out, considering CW is ending halfway through next year.
We know the G2 and Victorion waves are box sets, maybe G2 sups and menasor will be a case assortment, and G2 Bruticus and victorion will be a case assortment?
So (if the [fairly accurate thus far] rumors are to be believed) then, how are the (inevitably crappy and flawed) technobots and liokaiser going to be released? They can't all be boxsets, right? Will they be interspersed throughout TW, or will they really be boxsets too? I really don't want to pay $100 for a set with 2 crappy brawl figs just to get - what I imagine would be - an epic Sky Lynx repaint.

IDK about all the rumors. The technobots could be sprinkled in considering they just need limbs and could forgo the 6th member, but Liokaiser? I just see no way that would happen

Perhaps that's been the right way to transform it all along? Better that it doesn't lock in than have that floppy mess?

I think there's a peg for Shockwave to attach to Bruticus' fist. There is no proper grip unfortunately.

And we can still get Sixshot as his own toy, since we're seeing more Unicron Trilogy repaints (Megatron, Thundercracker)

Well no, the cw version has painted details showing you which is the proper side, besides, the front that's showing in the pic there, is where has/tak are putting the trademark info...

I don't know what they were thinking there. Maybe the hinge was supposed to be on another corner of the crotch piece and it would have actually sat properly there, but instead they put the actual ab crunch in the wrong spot? I just don't see how anyone thought that was a good idea

The problem are those little trapezoidal bits right under the torso, you can see them in the pic, they obstruct the hinge from collapsing flush against the torso;
But I agree, this is an inexcusable travesty, especially, as it's one of two (entirely) new molds for the rest of the line, and already has a whole host of repaints of it - all of which are ruined now by virtue of association.

If it's those two tabs that are being a hindrance, it shouldn't be that difficult to take them off. Exacto knife ought to do it, nail clippers too. Cut those little suckers off, sand down what's left, and that should eliminate the problem entirely. What I'm curious about is how big of an effect, positive or negative, would have on the whole figure.

What it is really is that there is now way for the hinge that the waist is on to fold up against the underside of the body properly. you couldnt cut it off since you would be cutting off the whole hinge the body is attached to the waist with. There really isnt a way to fix this besides replacing that whole hinge/waist area

If you watch the video, you'll notice trapezoidal bits that the hinge is being pressed against, get rid of those, and the pelvis should rest against the torso flush.

I remember seeing test shots of a beige Brawl that used that pose. Either way, that's probably the way he'll be configured for me, because even if Takara CAN fix it, make a shuttle Blast Off off their own yen, give everyone G1 guns and cure cancer, it costs more than I'm willing to be picky about.

Wasn't it an exclusive (and a terrible figure)? Hardly what I'd call easy to get, and not something to compare a retail release to; and seeing as you just voted on a titan scorponok, even though we just got one as an exclusive, I'd say that's hypocrisy
But I have no doubt in my mind, that, between hasbro and TT we will see every recolor of this guy possible in the next few years
