Earlier last week we've reported that Transformers 5 was promised by Paramount Pictures Senior Vice President Edward Ryan in 2016 (here) at the TF4 Screening during CineEurope 2014 Barcelona. But NOT SO FAST reports ign.com. According to IGN's Roth Cornet who spoke with Transformers: Age of Extinction producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura the release date seems to be inaccurate. In fact the next movie might not even be part of a trilogy!

"We're not planning on doing a trilogy," he told Roth. "We're not not planning on doing a trilogy. It's really a one-movie-at-a-time philosophy. It feels a little arrogant. Both [director Michael Bay] and I feel like it's a little arrogant of us to presume success each time. We know our fans are really out there and they're going to come, so we presume a certain amount of success. But all the energy will be thrown into the next movie, if we're lucky enough to get there."

unless the next one is a reboot its going to be a sequel or prequel theres no way around it. You could do a spin off but even that would be part of the established story line.

I think they're going to do like they said the 1st time. They're just backtracking now to not look like overconfident blowhards. Saying that they were ready to make a trilogy made it sound like they were taking the success of this film for granted (and why shouldn't they?) and the next 2 are a foregone conclusion.

Oh PUH-LEEEES, the movie's aren't going to end. They're a summer blockbuster that always makes money with the masses. No way they're going to stop making them. (I mean this all in a depressive sense, mainly because I really dislike the movies)

My hope is just that they'll get a new director for the next bunch of them.

The whole reason i am a transformers fan is because of the films. The new film looks like the best based off of the trailers stills set videos, and even toys. And furthermore the movies all look great with bay directing them. Again my opinion. :BOT: :michaelbay:

What's so surprising about them saying that AOE does not necessarily start another trilogy. This news doesn't suggest anything so different from how they handled the first three. They made small connections in order to link three different plots about Decepticon's trying to destroy the world. The connections were simple enough for them to not worry so much about tying things together. That's probably how they'll approach any sequel to Age Of Extinction.

Yeah that's horse poo considering how this movie ends. It's literally the first act.
And leaves it needing a next film to end the over all plot.

Collider has recently posted an interview they had with Transformers:Age of Extinction actress Li Bingbing where they talked about what was it like to work with Michael Bay, the way Bay wanted her to look in the film,
What was it like doing the action sequences, Deleted scenes, and much more.

The very end of the last TV spot showed Grimlock snapping someone in half with his jaws. Not sure who, it was just a mess of parts and green fluid. (Made me think it was Crosshairs for a second, but that wouldn't make sense.)

I wish Bee would keep that '69 Camaro alt mode. Looks so much better than the new one.

That's what I'm trying to say. The guys we know to be the AOE Vehicons aren't in the movie.

Unless the movie decides to call the Trax dudes Vehicons as well (which we won't know about either way until the 27th).

mirageandjazz1197 wrote:They look like Vehicons too so why the hell would they not be Vehicons?
There is no one set design that automatically pegs down something as being a Vehicon. In the entire history of the brand, there have been six different things given the name of "Vehicon", and of those six, one of them had at least 12 completely different designs, another had at least 7 designs, and two of the others had no designs at all. And there's also been the differences in designs between toys and fiction. So, in the end, there have been at least 30 different designs for things that have been called a Vehicon. And of those 30 designs, not a one looks like an inspiration for the Chevy Trax bots.

Well, the fact that you're talking about a character's death when most of us haven't seen the movie yet, for one thing.

You do realize that both of those sites have less-than-admirable reputations, much less are either them considered to be official sources.

YouTube is especially vicious and notorious to the point that no one should every regard its comment sections as anything reliable.

Still, unless the Vehicon term was given by someone official posting on either site (Bob Orci, for instance, has posted on TFW a few times), neither site is regarded as an official source.

It's like how back before DOTM premiered everyone was calling Sentinel Prime "Old Yellow" (due to his being colored yellow/gold in the very first teaser trailer). No one knew who he was, but a name was given to him in the meantime.

The difference this time, however, being that anyone could see the casual use of the term "Vehicon" being tossed around to refer to the Chevy Traxes and mistakenly believe that term to be the official name of the Chevy Traxes, when such isn't known to be the case. A name like "Old Yellow" is obvious to be a fanmade nickname at first glance, while the name "Vehicon" feel real enough to not be perceived as a simple nickname.

But wasn't the name "Trax" given for these things in a previous news post?

mirageandjazz1197 wrote:Vehicons is what i'm calling them until official sources say otherwise.

It's not a matter of what sounds better or cooler, but a matter of journalistic integrity. If people go around intentionally using terms they know full well aren't provided by official sources, other people unaware of the terms' unofficial nature could see the terms being used and mistaken them as something factual instead of a fan's preference of convenience and/or simplicity.

If I wanted to call the nameless Insecticon who appeared in ROTF by the name of "Buzzkill" because I liked the sound of that name, those not as familiar with the character or not knowing that I'd be using an unofficial name could think I was serious about that being his name and might take me seriously enough to think that that is his name, when there's nothing official to support it as it'd be just my own fanmade nickname for the guy.

I wouldn't want to impose any sort of confusion such as that upon anyone, and I'd hope others such as yourself would feel the same.

They are generally a lot better then this site

hehe. I left tfw2005 for the reasons that there is a large chunk of people over there who do nothing but whine, complain, throw insults and troll for the sake of trolling. Siebertron.com is far superior in terms of its user base and the quality of the people who are here.

I'm not saying all of TFW2005 is all bad, there are quite a few people over there whom I have the utmost respect for. But, jumping into a convo in a tfw2005 thread is like jumping into a convo on youtube. You're lucky to get 3 posts in before you've got someone throwing insults or trolling.

The only sad moment I've had with Siebertron.com was the meetup at botcon. I couldn't find anyone at the meeting place where everyone was meeting, but I'm much shorter in a wheelchair so it's hard to look over people who are sitting. 8-} ROFL! And even with that, I hope to be able to meet some people from here in person, whether it be before next botcon or next botcon. :D
