That said I'll probably just get Cybertron Excellion as my Hot Rod. Mainly because I've heard nothing but good things about that mold and I have a huge fixation on Cybertron toys.

But, uh ... MAYBE making a new voyager Rodimus should be more of a thing, Hasbro? The only real official option is the Titanium.
The TITANIUM!!!

I may have missed it, but what size class are we looking at? I'm guessing deluxe based off the size of his head.

I have mixed feelings about getting updates to characters who have already been done extremely well.

The near-Cyclonus-esque features that have been pointed out already frighten me... if he does happen, I hope he looks worse than the Universe (2008) stepson; at the pace Titans Return is going churning out better versions of characters I already have, I might as well sell all of my ClassicsUniverse (2008)Generations fellas!

But that was almost 10 years ago, gotta freshen them up at least once a decade, so that all the new collectors can get that character without much fuss, and also to keep the name trademarked. But, by that logic, we shouldn't have gotten an O/P after Classics was released - or the rotf one

It's deluxe, according to the leak before this - Hot Rod, Getaway, Doublecross and Triggerhappy are the 2017 Spring Deluxe assortment.

It is indeed Deluxe Class, as confirmed by an earlier leak which included Doublecross/Twinferno, Getaway/Breakaway and Triggerhappy.

That's misreading my logic, especially when you apply a perennially redone, flagship character like Optimus as the standard.
Besides, I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I'm just saying I don't know how I feel about it. I don't want my Cyclonus (which is still very easily attainable, btw) to feel outdated. Though that was bound to happen anyway, since the Platinum version has 2 fistholes!

And I would beg to differ that Classics Rodimus was done "extremely well". It's one of the most dated of the "Classics"/Generations toys, in my opinion, and wasn't that great of a Rodimus toy. It was good, and for its time way back 10 years ago it was pretty awesome (especially as part of a new Neo-G1 movement), but the toy should have been put to bed along time ago. Looking forward to a new version of Rodimus after all this time!

I had actually hoped that maybe this would be a voyager Rodimus Prime to replace my Titanium...

I'm just bummed that Cyclonus was the only one to get his Targetmaster partner. I was REALLY bummed when Scourge came out sans a proper Fracas. Hopefully the Targetmasters will be revisited properly at some point, however, I'll be surprised if it's any time soon. Bummed that the Titanmasters weren't done properly with Headmasters, Targetmasters and Powermasters. That would have been an amazing line ... everyone's gimmick would work with the baseformers and it would have been a much better concept than "everyone's a headmaster now!"
Plus who wouldn't want to see the ultimate "Titanmaster" ... a Headmaster who's powered by a Powermaster engine and has a Targetmaster weapon! Now that would have been awesome.

While I do really love Headmasters, as they are my favorite gimmick in Transformers history and I love the fact that we're getting a whole toyline of them, that would've actually been much more awesome.

Not necessarily - most of these will have an added cockpit where otherwise there likely wouldn't have been any.

But the world does need more voyager class space winnebagos! I'd laugh if they redecoed Legends Swerve as Legends Rodimus Prime, paineed the underside of the hood yellow so it would look like a spoiler when flipped back instead of scrunched down like Swerve and Gears. Could be the ultimate insult to IDW Rodimus!

I like all of this! But I do think this is a pretty nice update to Hot Rod. It looks sleek and vaguely futuristic. Dual pistols! If only it had a flip circular saw. I wonder if I could fit a matrix in the cockpit in robot mode...

I never owned classics hot rod. I wanted the one with clear blue windows but people werent willing to let him go for decent prices so I never got one. Guess that might change now. What was bad about him?
Blozor wrote:I swear if the comics goes to every single character suddenly having a Headmaster running around I may be out. It's getting ridic.
Hasbro confirmed that wasnt happening. They explained that even though they see being a headmaster as part of the history of all these toys/characters, some of that fiction will be limited to the existence of these toys and thats it.

Please, it looks much nicer, and doesn't have a backpack for days. Despite (again) being a deluxe, it manages to tackle the shape and style of hotrod while dealing with the kibble in bot mode, so - in my opinion - it is more successful, and certainly more desirable - for me personally - than that MP any day of the week, I like the Animated throwbacks in the car mode, very nice.
Most likely gonna get him, and possibly any remold they make of him (hoping for a )

That mould works surprisingly well as Rodimus, but you know what? It's still just a red and yellow Springer and it doesn't even have a new head.
TBH, I'm not sure a decently repainted figure is better than a mediocre unique mould figure. I mean put Cloud Rodimus with Springer and the rest of the movie crew and I don't think it's too convincing.

The headsculpt isn't anything special either. I know it may sound like I dislike it but I don't really. It's just a figure that hasn't aged well and has become average by today's standards. Hope that explains at least my nit picks about him if not the collective whole(I doubt it does).

I don't know if you've ever handled MP Hot Rod in hand, but he is definitely up there as one of the best MP cars, IMHO. Just packed with extras, transformation is great, and he's Hot Rod to a T.

My Lego-formers can ab-crunch, it's not difficult and it's hardly this figures fault that TT (a different company) didn't engineer they're figures with ab-crunch besides, not many MPs' transformations could allow for an ab-crunch, and hotrod doesn't really look good doing it either, so there's that

I don't really like G1, so I don't have any MP's (would like MP Soundwayne though); but, it's strictly about how it handles itself as a tf, tr hotrod handles itself well, whereas mp hotrod crams it into a backpack - plus, tr hotrod'll only be $15

Well, I buy figures that I think look cool, which means a lot of things based on the 'boring' G1 stuff gets passed right on by me; that said, I love combiners, and I think this style works for me over all, I plan to get Crashbash, Apeface, Wolfwire, Skullcruncher, Getaway, Hot Rod, and Astrotrain.
You've gotta understand, that before CW, I had a very minimalist approach to buying figures because of that very point that you high-lighted, I do indeed foresee my purchasing taking a steep fall now.
