MP's, movie line and rid, yes, I've seen nothing that stands out as a step-up in the tr line

Triggerhappy and some other recent deluxes have been big step ups to me.
But the movie line seems to be benefiting teh most

I would be inclined to agree. The details for the movie toys, MP's and Titans Return have been stellar. I wish they made the RiD toys a bit less hollow and more paint apps though.

Regardless, yeah, outside of extreme adherence to G1, there's been some huge steps forward in design recently that don't fail to amaze me and make me step back and wonder how did they do that?

The TR line is giving us some amazing playability with the leader class, a whole new array of triple changers and some knock out transformations at the deluxe class with the likes of Top Spin, Kup, Triggerhappy and Blurr. Its a far cry from the more mundane transformations the Generations line has given us in the past.

Kurona wrote:Being fair, I think TR's lack of intuition isn't so much a lack of talent on the designer's side; but more that the leading design ethos is basically G1 but also they can do more than move their shoulders now. That doesn't mean there can't be some fantastic design despite that, and we have seen quite a few examples - Triggerhappy, Megatron, Topspin - but it is a huge inhibition. God I miss Thrilling 30.
I think its the total opposite to that. The only thing great about thrilling 30 was that the designs were varied but there was no imaginitive transformations like we see here, aside from Skybyte (and as we know, a great transformation can get totally ignored when the rest of the toy isnt great). Quite a few toys in thrilling 30 suffered from the same problem of recreating G1 like Scoop who is as plain as you can get. Jetfire also is pretty much his G1 toy with a similar transformation (less of a bad thing in that case). And you also had the simplest deluxe of the past 5 years: tankor.
But now with the Titans Return line they are giving us characters we know in totally new transformation schemes. Topspin is a perfect example. There is nothing homaging the G1 transformation, its a totally new way to interpret that toy. Kup is the same way too, with the best leg transformation I have ever seen. Blaster too is super cool by reinventing that whole leg area and reinventing the casettes too. Its really cool to see another attempt at other castte bots who share the same alt mode but have completely different transformatons and it works great for the birds and Rewind/Rumble. You also have sharkticon who is nothing like his G1 self. I was even amazed at Kickback who has this whole new abdomen part making him more organic and also hiding the arms in locust mode.
Its just the original headmasters who end up similar to their G1 selves and even then thats not the case for all of em.
All in all, there are far more ingenious transformations in the Titans Return line than there were in the Thrilling 30 line and I am so glad we have that cheap plastic and small deluxe size behind us.

I thought they had plenty of clever ideas for the dinobots (no the leader one's though) and hound turning inside out to transform was plenty cool, but these new ones are leagues beyond everything right now

Local store had these out but their computers had a hard coded street date of 4/26 that they couldn't override. Store manager pulled them all out of the Hasbro PDP display they'd been sent in on. Very likely the stores have no clue these are street dated until they try to sell them, given how those displays are typically sent to retailers.william-james88 wrote:One Step Turbo Changers Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Barricade, and Hound (the last two being new molds) have been found at Gamesto for $11.99. The area of the US has not been confirmed yet but these were found by TFW2005 user blackwidow1972. That makes it yet another store breaking the street date like Navy Exchange. Let us know if you find other stores breaking the street date of April 24th 2017.

chuckdawg1999 wrote:It'a new movie time, and with a new movie comes a plethora of new toys, so of course, the first figure I review is a repaint from the Transformers Prime series. Legion Barricade is a repaint of Legion Class Prowl from TF: Prime, who in turn was a repaint/retool of the previous legion figure Smokescreen. I feel the choice of molds is a wink/nod to the TFCC subscription service Barricade figure who was made from the Deluxe Prime Smokescreen mold. If you never experienced the mold it's definitely worth a pick up as the transformation is fun.

I'm still puzzled about their reluctance to repaint 2 of the Predacon/Terrorcon Legions as we could have had several repaints of that by now if they'd just make more of the other arm and the Torso as well as the one arm and one leg they keep on making we could have had some sort of Monster-Autobot combiner out of those moulds too as well as some weird cousin of the Firecons.
I do wonder what goes on inside Hasbro's heads sometime - as if I was planning on what to do for the 2017 line - I certainly wouldn't be using repaints in the main line - in box sets / gift sets sure - but not in the main line.
I suppose I should be grateful that they are doing a Crosshairs that is close enough to AOE to double up for that - but they really ought to be making up for all they missed in AOE by not having Legions for that line and also addressing the 10th Anniversary as well - perhaps with a new 1970's Bumblebee as well as AOE's two Bumblebee designs too & Stinger. I can understand their reluctance to go anywhere near Ferrari - but they could even make Mirage/Dino especially if they left the name as Mirage and made up a car mode or used a new one from one of the licensed manufacturers they have at the moment same for stinger.
It would have been nice to use the Legends size as a faux stand in for Cyberverse Commander class - though perhaps the 2.5mm hand size of Cyberverse commander is reason enough to just make that class again.
Just think of all the fun things they can make in that size. Perhaps they can do something like that and brand it for the Bumblebee Movie or Transformers 6. I think the relatively small cast of characters likely to be in the Bee Movie makes it ideal for some sort of big retrospective Movie line.

Tresob wrote:I'm just a tad confused why they didn't just re-release the earlier Legion Barricade...
I can think of two reasons:
1) The robot mode design is obsolete, now they want something more streamlined like the current model.
2) Hasbro does not have the proper license. The earlier Legion is a licensed Saleen S281, but for this movie Barricade has traded it in for a Ford Mustang. As Ford is a competitor of main license supplier General Motors, all his toys have to take liberties with the design to the point other toys have to be used as a stand-in. It's happened before with Dino/Mirage, who took the form of RotF Sideways, and Stinger who looks like Prime Knockout for their Legion Class releases.

The user who submitted this is attuned with the market and said that the street date was applicable:
The first Last Knight figures have arrived at German retail. Apparently someone broke the street date.

You dont want to wait to see if they will release one with a better deco? And by better deco I mean one that has flames on the chest and doesnt look like he is an anime character crying.

And how much would that cost? Would it be part of some expensive Platinum box set of figures? Or a Takara figure that would add much more cost for shipping? I'm not made of money. Or employed. And unlikely to be in the foreseeable future cos health stuffs. I can't afford all the super pretty toys. I often just have to make do with what I can afford and do my best to pretty them up myself. And this Prime toy has a great mold and decent colours for the most part and I can have fun pimping it up.
I still prefer my custom AoE Evasion Prime over any of the official ones I've seen and the factory version of that was way worse looking than this Last Knight Prime in paint and colouring.

As I tell Black that, if you have the skills and plan on doing touch ups then you are always better off getting the less expensive version.
And, sadly, the takara version is not better than this one. they are the same toys (as is the rest of this entire line) so a better version would have to come from a boxset of some kind. it will be hard for me, but I plan on waiting to get a good idea of what will be offered. Since I dont do touch ups and dont want more than one of this mold, I really want to know what all the options are before I buy it because nothing pains me more than buying a toy only to find out that a better version is released not too long after.

Well I'm certainly not highly skilled at customising and wouldn't make any money selling custom figures I've done but I like having a go at improving figures where the lack of apps annoy me enough and I enjoy it.
This be my custom AoE Evasion Prime I did all myself and the flames are from toyhax and I think it turned out well despite my amateur skills.
Still could never make up my mind whether to paint both side of his shoulder thingys silver or leave it as I've done here where the outside is silver and inside is red (cos the inside forms the lower bit of the red truck). I notice the much improved 10th anniversary one has both sides silver from the pics I've seen so maybe I'll do that too.
But yeah overall I was happy with this and eager to take a shot at the Lask Knight figure.
My photography skills are also very lacking...

No, just Optimus, he is a TRU exclusive in japan, so its impossible to import him
http://www.toysrus.co.jp/s/dsg-57473760 ... tab-01-tab
The only way to get him is to buy him from someone who bought him at TRU, but that wont happen since its the same toy so why bother?
Megatron Wolf wrote:$30 for a voyger yeah you can count me out, i have a hard time justifying $25 for one $30 is ridiculous. Hopefully this is just because its "premier edition" or what ever its called, similar to how prime had those really expensive 1st edition figures before the main line was out. But if its not & this is the new price point i guarantee a lot of people will be jumping ship, i know i will.
These arent the same as 1st edition toys, it was explained a little while back. Its just the name the more "complex" toys are given to distinguish them from the others. they did that last time too with AOE by calling the deluxes, voyagers and leaders "generations". but that was confusing since there was another generations line at the same time. So this time they are calling those "premier edition" instead of Generations, but its the same thing. Doesnt mean they have more paint apps or whatever, and many are toys we already got in AOE.
So no, its not just for select toys, every single voyager in the Last Knight toyline has a price of $30.
It is the MSRP given by hasbro at toy fair back in february:
TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT PREMIER EDITION VOYAGER CLASS FIGURE Assortment
(Ages 8 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $29.99/Available: Spring 2017)
here's the MSRP for the other classes in case people didnt know:
TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT PREMIER EDITION DELUXE CLASS FIGURE Assortment
(Ages 8 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $19.99/Available: Spring 2017)
TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT — KNIGHT ARMOR TURBO CHANGER FIGURE Assortment
(Ages 6 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $19.99/Available: Spring 2017)
TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT 1-STEP TURBO CHANGER FIGURES Assortment
(Ages 5 and up/Approx. Retail Price: $9.99/Available: Spring 2017)
TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT LEGION CLASS FIGURES Assortment
(Ages 6 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $6.99/Available: Spring 2017)
TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT PREMIER EDITION LEADER CLASS Assortment
(Ages 8 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $49.99/Available: Fall 2017)
Thats right, leaders are now $50 and Deluxes are $20. Not a TRU markup, just the straight up MSRP given by Hasbro.
