I guess I should also say again that this thing was there in that store for two WEEKS before I posted these pictures today. I just didn't know that they hadn't announced yet. Go figure.....

Likewise.

I am mildly amused that the earlier Robots in Disguise was a brand that included repaints from earlier lines (like the Scourge/Bludgeon toys) and eventually became a brand to release "Whatever".
If you combine Adventures and RID-15 you have a line that includes; Movie, Animated, Classics/Combiner Wars & Prime Moulds in a single line.
I found that sort of ironic.

By far the most purely stupid re-release of a mold I've ever seen.

I guess, I dunno. I was under the (completely uneducated) assumption that Movie designs by the actual Movie crew were off-limits in non-Movie lines, and that Platinum Edition (that's what the G1 guys are, right?) might be juuuuust skirting the edge there due to being "special edition" instead of being in a new line entirely.
*wonders if they could reuse non-vehicle toys like Shockwave and Laserbeak*

Those colors are very fitting for him. I do really like them and the character himself!

I like them better on RiD Grimlock. On Bayformer Grimlock, they kind of make him look like a big pickle.
Shame they didn't do this right. A reshell plust replacing the Optimus figure with Bumblebee or Sideswipe (or Minitron, but i don't dare even hope) rather than just throwing it out would have helped a lot here.
Posted by RAR on August 29th, 2015 @ 10:01pm CDT
Even if they didn't at the time have a plan to use them in a Grimlock repaint there is the idea of "Imaginative play" to consider. not to mention they might still be making One-steps for years to come it would have given them a unifying theme and future proofed them.
Retaining the metal piece could have been a feature they could use or ignore as they chose too like how Minicons were sold as toys to slap onto other toys - or just sold as small toys with the Powerlinking never even mentioned or even appropriate in some cases.
Instead giving some more people a reason to buy an expensive toy they've given some people a reason not too. which to be honest is a bit disappointing.
Putting that aside though I do still think the toy looks far better in green.

That's not irony. Coincidence and parallelism, sure, but not irony.
I do kind of wish this new grimlock at least had a new head, but it's not like I'm buying it either way. My friend brought up a point, though. This is the second big box item this year, and it might replace Devastator on shelves (at the places that carry both, which I think is only TRU). Not encouraging.

For the sake of clarity;
Irony is used in previous statement in the follow senses :
"A situation that is strange or funny because things happen in a way that seems to be the opposite of what you expected."
" incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result;"
In other words I didn't 'expect' the RID Brand of 2015 to share that feature of odd ball repaints with the brand of 2001-2003.
I didn't mean it in the "Opposites" meaning :
"irony: the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect."
Or
"the use of words to express something other than and especially the opposite of the literal meaning".
Those later meanings bare more resemblance to the tone of Sarcasm.
As I wasn't being sarcastic - I was commenting on an unexpected series of events and as such the usage is I feel perfectly valid.
If it helps you can take the intent of the original statement to be one of me commenting on something I found "amusingly incongruous" instead.

If anybody really, REALLY wants to get RiD Stomp and Chomp Grimlock early, then hop onto your private lear jet and zip out to the Orem, Utah Toys R Us store where you can pick up TWO of them which are on the shelf at this very moment for $79.99 US.
SOMEBODY'S gonna get a stern talking to after this, I'll wager...
Also at the store are several 5 Step Megatronus figures, as well as several 'Clash Of' RiD deluxes, including Sideswipe and Bumblebee....

I wouldn't get my hope's up whatsoever
It's clear that hasbro has absolutely no intent to make any of their 'easy' line halfway decent figures

Got a full refund, ordered a new one. Funny thing if I didn't open the box I would've never known it was broken. The fasteners Hasbro uses held the torso in position, once removed the torso slid down

Wow, morbid, sounds like something I would expect from the Spanish inquisition, or Mortal Kombat

EDIT: Duh, of course you did.
Still, I'm amazed that the arms are BROKEN off. Not just popped off.

dang. I was coming over here to see what people thought of them. Sucks to see they break so easily. I mean, for a line for kids.
Honestly, I like the simplistic transforming designs. I know they turn into bricks but it makes a cool toy. But if they are not sturdy they dont win in my book. That's the appeal to me of the 3-steps. they seem sturdy.

I think it was a freak accident. It had to happen after it was packaged, perhaps before it left the factory.

At least they have weapons....unlike many legends class guys

Yes it is irritating that Legends "Generations" toy don't come with Partners any more - I can deal with it so long as Takara remember to put them in Future Campaign releases as they sometimes do, otherwise we could really do with another Minicon giftset like we used to get only this time with "Targetmasters".
I suppose some people were pretty please they at least had the option to get the right gun for Strongarm via a later Japanese Optimus toy - that was better than not having it at all I guess.
I always likes how each MOTU 200X toy of Man at Arms had a different mode of his gauntlet weapon allowing you to swap them around and expand your play options a lot - I appreciated that - I wonder if they might ever think to do something similar with Transformers - but then they only "Sometimes" have transformable weapons in the Media and usually not multiple modes (though I guess Optimus in Prime & Movie Optimus had them).
Is there anything like that in RID's TV show that is missing from the available weapons that come with the toys that people would like to see. ?

That killed the RID deployer line for me. A simple swivel would've fixed it fine.

Really is unfortunate considering a few swivels would have made both deployers and deployees soooo much better

I don't know if this is relevant or not....but they did use the Optimus legion legends mold 3 TIMES! & obviously Huffer suffered....because the Roller mold wasn't packaged with him.
As for what's missing from the available toys that come with the figures! not something that's really missing....more something that really needs to change...are those Minicon Deployers...because where the minicons are stored on the figures....are not cartoon accurate(btw I'm not talking about the actual deployer part! just that there's no way to store the minicons on the figures that's cartoon accurate! & they could've added that).

Voyager Scale Bumblebee, Grimlock & Strongarm.
That Bumblebee is worth having just for the sword !
I wonder if others will follow.

Anyway back on topic, I also feel a sense of disappointment that the Minicons lack any significant paint perhaps if they'd sold them in 2 pack I might be more forgiving. But when the packet shows the art of what they are "Supposed" to look like it pushes my fur the wrong way a bit. Oh well I do Like painting things so perhaps I should see it as an opportunity not a disadvantage.
