Fellow Seibertronians! Yours truly brings to your attention something burning today! In a rather unexpected twist of events, BigBadToyStore has posted a new listing revealing the existence of a new upcoming Transformers Masterpiece figure, MP-38+ Burning Convoy!
A redeco of the Masterpiece MP-32 Optimus Primal, it will homage the Burning Convoy redeco of the original Optimus Primal figure that was released as a limited-edition figure to promote the Beast Wars Special movie. The deco has varried a bit in the past but the cartoon accurate deco, since this is based on a cartoon appearance, has an all red chest with only the forearms being gold. You can see an image below of the Robot Masters version, which has more gold highlights, and how he looked like in the cartoon. We do not know if that means he will be clear or painted red. Both Hasbro and Takara will release this toy, as inferred from the BBTS listing.
Not much is known about this figure, as not even its price has been yet revealed, but we do have a release date of March 2020.

Why? Simple: MP-32 was BW cartoon accurate, MP-38 was toy accurate under the caveat that's the form he appeared in in the BWII movie. Both regular bases for a "+" release were covered, but only the Burning deco was left to do. So there

Oh, I know it's based on a real design, but the crappy gold paint on the transparent red plastic make it look a lot like one of the KO's from the prime days.

Thanks to an unexpected source in the form of Previews World, we now have some new stock photos for the recently announced MP-38+ Burning Convoy!
Burning Convoy is a redeco of the MP-32 mold in a garish translucent red in homage to the original Burning Convoy toy, based on the color Optimus Primal AKA Beast Convoy took when he and Lio Convoy united to defeat Majin Zarak in the Beast Wars II Movie. This redeco is the MP-32 repaint since it does not come with the Mutant Mask that MP-38 did.
This figure is set to be available in March of 2020 for the reasonable price of $111.99. Check out the product description and photos below, and let us know what you think in the comments section below!

Asking why they would make this version is like asking why any toys of Galvatron or Rodimus Prime get made. They're the movie-original powered-up forms of Megatron and Hot Rod just as this is the movie-original powered-up form of Optimus Primal.

Same here. Looks super bland. If it was a cheaper toy, sure (like Mirage or Cyclonus in a multipack) but here it's a pricey exclusive. I don't mind that it exists but I have other things to spend my money on.

Oddly enough I DO kinda like him. I definitely feel like he could have been done better, but in general I don’t think he’s all that bad. Beast Mode is easily better looking than his bot mode in my opinion, which is admittedly disappointing, but not a deal breaker for me. My main gripe is probably just how jarring his bit head looks on that clear candy looking red plastic. The juxtaposition of a painted solid plastic head on a clear plastic body is visually dissonant. Maybe if there had been some solid red plastic parts throughout the body, then maybe he’d look more cohesive.
I’d still definitely consider getting him, provided he isn’t stupid expensive.

I know it's supposed to be that way, but I find the blue of the blue helmet to be jarring. It would be a much nicer looking figure if the helmet was red.

It is funny. I have said I will fully support the MP Beast Wars line. Everything from characters I don't like (Airazor, Scorponok, Blackarachnia) to the most obscure redecos (Nightprowler, Packrat, Fractyl etc). BUT unless we get a de-make of the Apelinq redeco via This Mold, I have MP-32 and that is the only Primal I am interested in.

Seeing this today with the new images, I actually like it more now. I wish he had some more gold and some less bright blue on his head, but he's still looking pretty good.

I'm facing a bit of a change of heart. I was looking at my Beast Wars MP shelf and, as standard, I was admiring Shadow Panther. Standing there in his Chrome [Mutant Mask] faced glory. Whenever I log in here, there is an ad for Burning, posing dramatically. By association, he is starting to grow on me. Not as a Prime/al, I have the only one that matters. Not as Burning Convoy from a show I have no interest in. But as purely as a redeco, he catches my eye.
Perhaps, with a little Head Canon, the "Season One" body for this guy...

Thanks to site sponsor Robot Kingdom, we have news that the box for the very soon to be released MP-38+ Burning Convoy has been revealed.
The front of the box features the new MP-38+ in all his bright translucent red glory in both robot and beast mode, and the back advertises the play features and the accessories for the figure. The figure is inspired by the Burning Convoy form that Beast Convoy AKA Optimus Primal transformed into when he and Lio Convoy united in burning justice during the Beast Wars II movie. This Masterpiece release was timed to come out just one month after the new Lio Convoy toy, and that toy is begging for a Flash Lio Convoy repaint to go with this new Primal.
