Combiner Wars Superion pencils artwork - 2014 - Since the final image was show, now I'm allowed to post this image. The studio that does the color for the Transformers Legends game worked on the colors for the final illustration ! They did a great job!

Menasor looks a lot better when the legs are displayed as below. Now just a case of whether I want him to have the chest open, or closed. I'm thinking closed at the moment, looks a lot less top heavy. Would like to see another pic of him like this with Blackjack in there, but so far I've not been keen on how Blackjack looks sitting in there.

Valandar wrote:Having the surprising quality and relative sturdiness of a mostly completed Superion in my hands only makes me even angrier about the piece of crap that was FOC Bruticus. On the other hand, it does make me look forward to the rest of this line.
The thing is with FoC Bruticus is that the figure was just created as an individual set and not part of a toyline devoted to combiners. They got it out there off the back of the video games and in some ways was a good way to test the water at how well Generations combiners would be received.
Combiner Wars is their new pet project, it's a serious toyline that they know they have to get right. It's a big risk because if people are burnt by Superion, like they were with Bruticus, they won't be successful. This is why I think Superion has been released first, it's the best looking. Like releasing the opening track of an album as a single, which happens often.
I still like my Bruticus, he really kickstarted me into collecting after a trip to Japan where I picked up the Takara versions, so he's got a place in my heart. On his own he has some big flaws, but I think the Third Party upgrades help a little. He's a lot better with the Boosticus set, and looks good with a Voyager torso from Microblaze's Notslaught (although apparently that makes him a fair bit bigger than Superion). I've not invested in the latter as I think the Boosticus set looks good enough for what isn't the best of figures already.
I'm not sure whether I'll pick up the CW Bruticus, because I actually like the Cybertronian aesthetic of FoC Bruticus, but if it's as good as the rest of this line has been so far, I may just have to.

CW Air-Raid - 1,544 mph, 2,485 km/h
G1 Fireflight - 1,472 mph, 2,370 km/h

CW Slingshot - 673 mph, 1,083 km/h
CW Blades - 201 mph; 324 km/h
CW Alpha Bravo - 190 mph; 306 km/h
So, unfortunately, without some sort of teleportation system, Alpha Bravo does get left behind, even by his fellow new Aerialbot Powerglide, who tops out at 439mph (unarmed). Of course, everyone gets ditched by Blastoff who orbits at 17,180 mph (27,650 km/h), but I don't thing that really counts.

I just picked up that United set too, which is why I was reluctant to even get this version. But that plastic kinda made it worth it alone. Or that's just guilt justifying it for me.prjkt wrote:Cobotron wrote:Just picked up Legends Windcharger today. That completes wave 1 for me.

Since this has already been reported here several times, it is best to write post like these in the appropriate sightings section instead. Like that, the flow of the conversation here isn't halted and people from your area who don't read this thread can know which stores might stock the figure.

We've had them at various Toyworlds around the place, check otca.com.au for local sightings. I picked up Leader Megatron at my local a week or so back, and I've seen the other size classes too.
Apparently other retailers are starting to stock wave one also

I decided on the 4 Skydives because it looks like a VIP transport (Silverbolt) with its military escort. I turned my limbs around for the G1 vibe; really like the way the hands/feet appear like extensions of Skydive. The combined figure is very uniform. It's a very solid figure, way to go Hasbro!
Do not get me wrong, Alpha Bravo is a kick ass figure, very odd replacement. My biggest grip with his alt mode is when made into a limb, he is oriented in the opposite direction as the jets. The jets noses all point up whereas his vehicle front points down.
(Firefly wasn't bought when this picture was taken.)

jaws wrote:Spending way too much $$$ on this line, Aerialbots are only ones I want. Just completed Superion using 4 Skydives as limbs. Powerglide, Alpha Bravo, Firefly are stand alone figs. Waiting on Air Raid and Slingshot (if he comes to USA). The rest of the team might get swapped in once I have them in hand.
Why did you keep firefly as standalone?

You know what really bugs me about most of the reviews I'm seeing? How they refer to the artwork card as pointless, or useless. It's not all of the reviews I see, but it's enough to make me take exception to.
Someone put hours of work into creating that image. All the images that appear on the packaging are normally thrown away as garbage. I do it too, I toss out the packaging, I don't need packaging cluttering up my storage space. Sometimes I'll want to keep it because of the box art, but I can't.
The cards that come with the figures are great for me! And great for the artist who made them too. If Optibotimus doesn't want the cards, send them to me!

I never had the aeriobots when I was young, so the first thing I did was have to wander around online to find out exactly WHO it was that I just bought. Toys without personality are boring...
My biggest issue with Alpha Bravo, is that I still know nothing about him

That's the fun thing about kids' toys, you can make up their personality. I used to get a bunch of toys given to me from lines I never watched (like Mummy's alive) as a kid and I just made up who these people were, even their names. Also, with Transformers, I am collecting them for the craft that they are and not the character. One of my all time favourite transformers is Alternators Decepticharge and that's all because of the toy since the character has less written about him than Alpha Bravo. Another good example: Prime RID Vehicon. He has no personality and no story, but we all agree that the toy is a masterpiece all on it's own. Just to say that bios and fiction have never played a part in enjoying my toy, either as a kid or now, for different reasons.

I keep a large binder full of page protectors. Started when I restarted collecting during Energon.
Usually each protector is for a single release, and will have the instruction manual unfolded on the front with any other salvageable materials (backing cards from blister packs, box art, pack-in cards/comics/catalogs) tucked in behind.
I used to have a binder with tech specs and box art from G1, but unless it shows up in storage, it's been lost for some time.
We did kind of the same for all of our DVD/Blu-rays, disks is one binder, and we've pulled the liner notes to put in binder sleeves. Reduced a wall of disks down to a single shelf.

With the exception of TF GO!, Tomy knows how to do bio cards right! If only I can read Japanese. And I do miss the old art in G1 boxes. They were like mini masterpieces and help spur your imagination.
Back in Superlink and GF, despite being CGI renders, they put some effort to a decent battle scene. But I digress, wish Hasbro would return to those awesome biocards by Budiansky.

Yarb.
Step one: get a binder and sheets.
Step two: put your stuff in said binders and sheets.
Step three: grab a pint and/or Cornetto.
Step four: kick back and watch Bad Boys 2 or Point Blank.
Hows that for a slice of fried gold.

Ok so I REALLY don't get why G1 fans are dogging Superion so much. Seriously this guy made me have flash backs of memories from the 80's. Alpha Bravo sure, whatever he wasn't original, but WOW fantastic!
I still have my sky dive from my child hood... Looking at jet mode, WOW! (My family was rather poor so I only got to get one as a kid...)
I did keep the legs extended on the bottom which makes him MUCH more proportioned and well... I am going to have to photograph him tomorrow next to my ROTF Combiners... Because he DWARFS them... Its insane how tall this guy is when his legs are out... I can see why Hasbro has them folded in... But the sheer height it gives him REALLY adds to the insanity...
I will say my ***only compliant has and still is the dang feet are terrible... I must make a kit bash for them because there has to be more than these foot/hand missiles...
I seriously can't wait till Wave 2 comes out, and I can get them... (Hopefully soon I just got another dang coupon!)

Really any of them can keep their "legs" extended in the combined mode from just transforming each of them. Ill see if I can get some pictures tomorrow.
Either route with them folded in he still does look pretty decent, but a little on the side of "ape arms."

Question about those legs: to the hip joints still work with the legs displayed like that?
This could well put the Stunticon set back on my to-buy list; the "birthing hips" from the earlier pics really killed it for me.

I just tried it with Prime. Actually they are less impeded that when in the intended mode.SKYWARPED_128 wrote:Question about those legs: to the hip joints still work with the legs displayed like that?
Also, I just realized the plates that fold up from the lower leg are different sculpts between OP and MM.
