If it's any consolation, TRU Australia will also be importing Takara Tomy's Devastator.

As i've mentioned before....it WASN'T everywhere! Toys R Us in Glasgow, Scotland NEVER got Metroplex in! I had to get mine at Comicon, Glasgow, last year! so I'm skeptical if Toys R Us G L A S G O W!!! will be getting Devy in, but I'm more hopeful that I may get it at Comicon AGAIN this year, in Glasgow.
But I was just banging on about how stores like Toys R Us in places LIKE Glasgow.....seem to miss out on those exclusive releases that other Toys R Us stores in OTHER parts of the country, seem to enjoy.

Speaking of Toy Fair. It appears that Hasbro have pulled out of UK Toy Fair 2016. Not surprised, shows how much they care about us over here!

One of the biggest reasons for not liking it is because none of the others got a "modern" update. Would some of those people care to post some pictures of some "modern" alt modes for the other five Constructicons?
Posted by Sabrblade on July 5th, 2015 @ 10:33pm CDT
All six of them are modern. It's just that the other five are based on vehicle types whose designs haven't changed as much in appearance as the look of that type of cement mixer has.Burn wrote:A challenge for all those who don't like Mixmaster being given the alt mode of a "modern" cement truck.

Though, Mixmaster is done as that kind of cement mixer not simply to be modernized, but also because that type of design is what the great big mining cement mixers look like, and all six of the Constructicons in this set are rendered as the giant mining versions of their respective altmode vehicles. The rear-mounted cement mixer design nowadays is used on the smaller-scale ones, while the bigger-scale mining ones use the front-mounted mixers. It's because they're all giant mining construction vehicles now that Mixmaster got his new look.

Sorted.
And yet the complaining continues. I wonder why?
We didn't get much complaints when Metroflex came without Slammer or Six-gun.
Some complaints on Jetfire's faux cockpit.
Only one member complained when we got A/B. OffRoad not to much.
Then we also have the scale issues and the elbows now that TT released an updated version of the update.
Is familiarity with a particular symbol/person/vehicle so deep routed? That the particular psychological comfort zone so much disturbed that the crutch it serve to root one to reality has been so destabilized?
Makes a good case study in Psychology/Psychiatry. OCD to the max? Neurosis to the next level?

You keep spouting that you hate that Hasbro are taking traditionally non combining characters and making them combiners then vigorously defend your right to express that opinion. However, whenever anyone says they don't like Mixmaster's alt mode, by expressing their opinion, you call it pointless? Right.Burn wrote:So complaining about Mixmaster's modern take is pointless because all the others have been updated as well. Concrete trucks have changed the most in the last 30 years.

You keep mentioning alt mode scale. Why? Look at the deluxe class, sure a couple of cars scale well with each other and a couple of jets scale well with each other, but when you look at the entire line there is NO alt mode scale. As Burn would say, pointless.Sabrblade wrote:Though, Mixmaster is done as that kind of cement mixer not simply to be modernized, but also because that type of design is what the great big mining cement mixers look like, and all six of the Constructicons in this set are rendered as the giant mining versions of their respective altmode vehicles. So you believe that Silverbolt scales with his team mates? The Protectobots are even worse, Streetwise and First Aid are really the only ones that scale with each other. Don't even get me started on the Combaticons! Hell, even the Stunticons don't scale well.ZeroWolf wrote:I believe the point was that the constructicons, in their little gift set, actually scale with each other like the others do in their own little groups.
Then there are the Legends team members that Hasbro consider to be officially part of the teams. Does Powerglide scale well?
What I'm saying is; at no point does alt mode scale work in this line, or any line for that matter, so why was it so important to make one figure scale in alt mode. Hasbro made a choice, some like it and others don't, but as my point was, why say someone's opinion is pointless just because it is different.

Common complaint about Mixmaster wrote:I don't like Mixmaster's updated modern alt mode because none of the others were given a modern update
As Sabrblade has pointed out, the others WERE updated. Would you prefer I used the term "wrong" instead of "pointless"?

Yes, you're right, the differences are massive! They all had minor updates and look a lot like their G1 counterparts, Mixmaster doesn't.Burn wrote:Arctorro wrote:You keep spouting that you hate that Hasbro are taking traditionally non combining characters and making them combiners then vigorously defend your right to express that opinion. The biggest change here is the cab.
The next two deviate more, but are still minor updates. The biggest difference is the cab, again.
There are a couple of people who troll this site constantly stating the same complaints over and over, but a few people say they don't like this one alt mode and their opinion is "pointless".

Or maybe it was the designers choice to make the constructions scale with themselves and his choice with the alt modes.

Modernization is a strange choice, too. I mean, it's not like a tape player where the entire concept is foreign and archaic to today's kids (although that's not stopping Regular Show); a "backwards" cement truck's function is going to be as obvious as a "frontwards" truck's.
Plus, we're already getting Concordes, Space Shuttles, and dinosaurs, so...
Posted by Sabrblade on July 6th, 2015 @ 9:32am CDT
When I said "smaller-scale ones" and "bigger-scale ones" in that post, it was never in regards to this concept of "scale", but was instead on reference to the intensity of the jobs performed by each type of cement mixer. Mining cement mixers are "bigger-scale ones" in that they are "giant-sized mixers that perform tasks on a much grander level of operation" (liking work on enormous development sites and complexes), whereas the "smaller-scale ones" are "not-nearly-as-giant-sized mixers that perform tasks on much lower level of operation" (like working on sidewalks and suburban parking lots). You saw me use a word and jumped to the wrong conclusion.Arctorro wrote:You keep mentioning alt mode scale.Sabrblade wrote:Though, Mixmaster is done as that kind of cement mixer not simply to be modernized, but also because that type of design is what the great big mining cement mixers look like, and all six of the Constructicons in this set are rendered as the giant mining versions of their respective altmode vehicles. But since you brought up toy scale...
This Devastator toy is "SPECIAL", so much so that it was given all this extra level of attention that enabled the six Constructicons to be in scale with each other while the other teams got no such special treatment since they're not the big ticket extra special Titan giftset toy that Hasbro trying to promote and be a successful item so that we can get more Titan figures to come in the long run. Deluxes and Voyagers are already guaranteed to keep coming since they're the best-selling size classes of the brand, while Titan class toys have to be successful in order for them to keep being made. They're a bigger gamble and risk for Hasbro to take, so they have to be made to be extra worthwhile and appealing while the Deluxes and Voyagers can already hold their own on their own.Arctorro wrote:What I'm saying is; at no point does alt mode scale work in this line, or any line for that matter, so why was it so important to make one figure scale in alt mode.
I repeat:Arctorro wrote:Yes, you're right, the differences are massive! They all had minor updates and look a lot like their G1 counterparts, Mixmaster doesn't.
The cement mixer (particularly the kind used for mining) is the only one of the six whose real world appearance has changed so drastically over the years, while the designs of the other five have remained more or less consistent in their appearances to this day.Sabrblade wrote:All six of them are modern. Also the different positionings of the dump bed.

All things being equal, industrial or commercial grade, the result is that the foot on Devastator looks outright dumb. It isn't balanced with Scrapper's foot/leg mode.
As for the scale discussion. Yeah.
But really, this is fun. It's the Officially Licensed version of the Devastator conversation held as TFC's and Maketoy's Devastators were in production/coming out. 25% of the price, 100% of the fan-rage.

Also, just for the record, I do not mind any of the changes from G1 and never did. But I completely understand those that do.

In fact, I would buy another Hook and Scrapper to keep in bot mode if these were being sold separately.

I get that that IS Devastator on the package... Not saying it causes confusion as to the character seen. And I like the style of the illustration.
But it's quite a bit different from the actual toy.
And I personally don't care, it doesn't bother me. I just find it interesting.
The illustrations on other packaging is definitely stylized and somewhat embellished.
i.e. Motormaster's "lit-up" eyes.
But for the most part, the package artwork matches the figures.
So again, just interesting.
