And that is what bothers me about Mixmaster. The alt mode itself is fine, and if all the others had been given the same treatment I'd be thinking, "Cool modern update, they will go well with all the other Classics/Generations toys I have". Having one modern update and five that try to be as close to the fiction as possible (with a few obvious tweaks) makes Mixmaster stand out badly and look worse for it.

It is worse still when you consider his bot mode looks faithful to the fiction. So of the twelve modes (not counting combined), only one is a modern update, and the other eleven are very close to the fiction :BANG_HEAD:

Transformers Combiner Wars Devastator - Listed at Wal-Mart.ca

Postby shajaki » Sat Jul 04, 2015 8:45 pm

Motto: "A man who wants nothing is invincible."
American brick and mortar stores have been listing Combiner Wars Devastator online all week, but now Canada can add another notch to the Titan belt! Wal-Mart.ca has put the green and purple behemoth up for $179.92 CAD which qualifies for free shipping. Options for us Northerners are limited and this may be one of the cheapest alternatives, so if you're in the market then don't hesitate too long. The pic below will bring you right to the listing, and stay tuned to Seibertron.com: home for the best Galleries and Conversation around!

No point in us Brits getting too excited! Coz we probably won't see him hitting here in the UK anytime soon, this side of Christmas anyway, at least where the bricks & mortar stores are concerned!(TRU, Smyths, The Entertainer, A1 Toys ect) with the exception of him maybe turning up at any UK Comicon(the Glasgow one is coming up) or toyfair....that is.

If it's any consolation, TRU Australia will also be importing Takara Tomy's Devastator.

As i've mentioned before....it WASN'T everywhere! Toys R Us in Glasgow, Scotland NEVER got Metroplex in! I had to get mine at Comicon, Glasgow, last year! so I'm skeptical if Toys R Us G L A S G O W!!! will be getting Devy in, but I'm more hopeful that I may get it at Comicon AGAIN this year, in Glasgow.

But I was just banging on about how stores like Toys R Us in places LIKE Glasgow.....seem to miss out on those exclusive releases that other Toys R Us stores in OTHER parts of the country, seem to enjoy.

Yeah but your post before made it seem like the whole of the UK may miss out when it's...unlikely. as to why there is different distribution in one part of the landmass to the other well, that's just typical hasbro UK isn't

Speaking of Toy Fair. It appears that Hasbro have pulled out of UK Toy Fair 2016. Not surprised, shows how much they care about us over here!

A challenge for all those who don't like Mixmaster being given the alt mode of a "modern" cement truck.

One of the biggest reasons for not liking it is because none of the others got a "modern" update. Would some of those people care to post some pictures of some "modern" alt modes for the other five Constructicons?

All six of them are modern. It's just that the other five are based on vehicle types whose designs haven't changed as much in appearance as the look of that type of cement mixer has.

Though, Mixmaster is done as that kind of cement mixer not simply to be modernized, but also because that type of design is what the great big mining cement mixers look like, and all six of the Constructicons in this set are rendered as the giant mining versions of their respective altmode vehicles. The rear-mounted cement mixer design nowadays is used on the smaller-scale ones, while the bigger-scale mining ones use the front-mounted mixers. It's because they're all giant mining construction vehicles now that Mixmaster got his new look.

So complaining about Mixmaster's modern take is pointless because all the others have been updated as well. Concrete trucks have changed the most in the last 30 years.

Sorted.

And yet the complaining continues. I wonder why?

We didn't get much complaints when Metroflex came without Slammer or Six-gun.

Some complaints on Jetfire's faux cockpit.

Only one member complained when we got A/B. OffRoad not to much.

Then we also have the scale issues and the elbows now that TT released an updated version of the update.

Is familiarity with a particular symbol/person/vehicle so deep routed? That the particular psychological comfort zone so much disturbed that the crutch it serve to root one to reality has been so destabilized?

Makes a good case study in Psychology/Psychiatry. OCD to the max? Neurosis to the next level?

I think the fact that it is modern or not doesnt matter to some people. Some wanted a G1 version to the max and are not getting it, and of all the components because it is Cement Mixers that have changed the most, that is the one that sticks out the most. If he was turned the other way would there be different arguments for him not being G1 enough? Maybe.

You keep spouting that you hate that Hasbro are taking traditionally non combining characters and making them combiners then vigorously defend your right to express that opinion. However, whenever anyone says they don't like Mixmaster's alt mode, by expressing their opinion, you call it pointless? Right.

You keep mentioning alt mode scale. Why? Look at the deluxe class, sure a couple of cars scale well with each other and a couple of jets scale well with each other, but when you look at the entire line there is NO alt mode scale. As Burn would say, pointless.
