So many flat, hollow limbs with abysmal articulation. The other combiner individuals were looking pretty decent, this is a step back (or two) to the FoC-level of things.
Though Devy himself is looking OK.

The individual figures themselves look like the upscaled G1 figures, with a bit more articulation. Just dreadful. Looking at the picks there are like two that look like decent Deluxe Class figures, but these are supposed to be Voyagers ...

these new shots give his head more depth, looks better than original shots led me to believe.Dead Metal wrote:Combined mode looks pretty good, although I still think the head and arms suck.

theres a few hollow bits here and there (bonecrusher's legs? eww) but other than that, they look like they jumped right out of the cartoon! i would buy this entire set JUST for scrapper. he looks puuurrrrfect.

Boy I'm stoked for Devastator. Gonna have to preorder him when it comes up!
This is an awesome year for Transformers. Tons of combiners, and an awesome Ultra Magnus figure coming!

I have to say, with the exception of Longhaul, the other 5 look in fact like Voyager upscales of G1 selves with only slight tweeks here and there. Longhual looks like hes got a deviation from his G1 toy due to him now having the ablity to directly peg into the legs and thus needing a new/altered Transformation.
Posted by frogbat on February 14th, 2015 @ 3:21pm CST
Yeah the 3rd part ones might look better and have more intricate detailing and transformations but for the price i'd rather go with an official release. Only 3rd party product that's really rempting me right now is hexatron and i'd rather get the sixshot reissue first.

He actually does: problem is, they only swivel and don't hinge.

The nerdsphere of the interwebz has been playing around with comparisons, and here are the results:
Compared to G1 Devastator.
Meaning that CW Devastator should come up to Metroplex' chest.

Seriously guys. This is awesome and priced fairly. I have more chance picking this up than third party stuff.
I thought this was a forum for transformers toy fans and not "counts as" imitation toys.
I just can't get over the attitude some people have. Maybe Hasbro shouldn't even bother anymore and just make toys for robots in disguise.

high standards i was going to say to picky yes he does look amazing look forward to getting him its big step up from past combiners we got in past after g1 series and robots in disguise bruticuise combiner after that combiners well fell through and came back wit hhuge step if i knew this i would have passed herucles and waited for hasbro devy but either way will pick him someday spend 700.00 for 3rd part combiner, 149.99 for hasbro release hercules has its flaws to but i can deal with those flaws

haha thanks for that.. didn't see the g1 devastator in the pic! yeah i have my cable boxes that he might use for a wee boost.
I actually have a knock off g1 devastator. I had the originals as a kid but the interconnectors were fragile and broke soon after. He was the first and prolly the most rubbish of the lot but they were fun!

These are supposed to be Voyagers, they don't live up to previous Voyager standards. It doesn't matter that they're not 3rd Party, I'm not expecting them to live up to 3rd Party standards, we would be incredibly dumb if we did.
They just look like terrible Voyager figures, seriously terrible. Every pick I see that shows just how big the individual bots are just make me sad. They look like they belong in the Legends scale, not Voyager. These even look stupid next to CW Voyager Optimus Prime.
These are Voyagers, and priced as such, so we were kinda expecting them to live up to that standard.
But again, apart from a few problems, the combined mode looks pretty great, and will surely look fantastic next to the rest of the line.

What I love most is the individual bot modes being so cartoon G1. Just amazing. And I get to get all 6 for the price of two Herc members (less even).
I could see myself getting this for my boys too. They're not into Transformers much, but do like construction toys. These would be such a nice transition...and way to try to get them interested.

Which I'm guessing was the main goal in the design process. Create a large great looking Devestator, the look of the individual bots is secondary.

And that's most likely the reason behind Scrapper's "missing" elbow: in combined mode his arms stretch out to act as heels, and regular bending hinges would have been catastrophic for his stability.

I'll be honest, I was hoping for Prowlastator. Knew it was a long shot, but I was hoping.
This speaks heavily to nostalia, but mynostalgia is for Beast Wars,so I'm not likely to pop on this unless future pictures change my mind. RiD tempts me too much and I like the normal CW system too much better and I haven't even LOOKED yet at Magnus and the Protectobots, nor at the Rescue Bots or Kreo. It may be an expensive year, and I;m not sure I can fit this in.

Long haul suffers the same fate too with his elbows.

He always was a great figure.
I'm kinda partial towards Mixmaster as he was my first Constructicon (with Scrapper being second)

So yes, many times did Long Haul strut around with incredibly large legs.

Fewer than there would be if they had made the robot modes worthwhile on their own.

Am I the only one who doesn't think CW Prime is that bad? Seriously, you all better still hate the mold as Motormaster or you're filthy hypocrites who aren't getting any gummi worms from me.

I am however concerned about the plethora of ball joints, and am I the only that thinks that Longhaul is gonna have T-Rex arm syndrome? I think he looks pretty awesome in those pics otherwise.
Then there are the knee joints on Scrapper...meh.
