Which Voyager? PRiD? If so, then it's still a pass. FE or nothing when it comes to TFP:Optimus for me.

- Beast Hunters Voyager Ultra Magnus is a retool of PRiD Optimus Prime
- Platinum Edition Ultra Magnus is a retool of Weaponizer Optimus Prime
Poor guy still can't catch a break.

Ah, gotcha, thanks for the clarification .

If I am to get this, it would only be for the Forge.

Does.... does this mean there is hope for a Classics-ish Ultra Magnus? Hopes revived from the dead!

AH! Zombie hope! *bashes it*
Like I said before, See the box in the background there? Styled after the Platinum series, and it has that Ultra Magnus on it. To be fair, this probably is the Weaponizer Ultra Magnus that was originally announced.

You want to give us a remold of an already crap figure?
Fuck you Hasbro.

I can't hold your comments against you. You're 100% accurate. They know we want it, they saw how well the Classics version sold only AFTER FP started offering their add-on kit. The ball was in their court and they've dropped it (for now).
I still fully expect Takara to do one right in the MP line, using MP-10 in white which combines with a new trailer.

Sabrblade wrote:@JelZe - Awww, well that's cheap.
I was surprised as well when I saw it. We already knew about the Voyager retool for the main line, but a same-style retool of the Weaponizer for the collectors?
Again, sucker punch.
And easily skipped. Brownie points for the effort and the proper intentions (like keeping the design consistent between the two retools), but that's it.

People had been screaming for years for proper triple changers. They got Octane and Astrotrain.
But that wasn't enough, so people kept screaming for the others. Now they've given us Springer and Blitzwing.
How much louder do we have to scream for a Ultra Magnus that combines with his trailer? GAH!

For every two things Hasbro does right (Springer and Blitzwing), they blow the third.

Apparently we need to make more scream and noise whenever there's a Hasbro/Tomy panel at a convention with carrying signs just to get their attention,LOL. Yeah we haven't got cab and trailer combine since RID but that was due to Takara with their Car Robot 2000 line up. Our last resort is the MP Line, hopefully, TTomy comes to the rescue since the Magnus part is already done.
On the other hand, I'm okay with the cheaper route with UM being a Prime retool since that was the route of his toy as oppose to the straight repaint in white and called UM.

I am with the two of you on this.
With what Burn said, I do feel that they should have not cut corners and given us something that does not really look like a G1-ish Ultra Magnus. Granted that fans out there show more regard for Optimus Prime than Ultra Magnus... But there are those among us that would buy a more modern G1 Ultra Magnus, even if it means buying a Hasbro exclusive (if we prefer TOMY) or even a Masterpiece (if we prefer Hasbro).
Then again, I would not be surprised if burn got his coffee from the guy who is selling G1 original Transformers at my local antique/collectors shop. He has a loose Sludge listed as Grimlock and a MIB/MISB (Takara) Hot Spot listed as Ultra Magnus.
Oh... And TOMY making a second Masterpiece Ultra Magnus? The day it happens will be the day I cave in and buy a Masterpiece figure! (He is still on my list, BTW.)

It was Coke and I got it from the Newsagent across the road.
And it actually worked a little.
Come on Hasbro, you're ramping things up for the 30th Anniversary, give us a white cab (that has it's own robot mode) that combines with its trailer!

Well, given that the Optimus version didn't sell super well, why use this mold for the Platinum edition? I mean, sure, go ahead and use it for Beast Hunters line, but BH =/= Classics.

That is where you're wrong, RAcast. The Classics line and it's spawns were not to strictly cover G1. They've made toys for other continuities as well. And the Generations line, a Classics spawn, is continuing the tradition. This Ultra Magnus is for the Prime portion of Generations. So Beast Hunters can = Classics, just as Beast Wars, Cybertron, and Animated, Armada, and beyond have in the past.

Fair enough, fair enough. It's still weird though, to have a -current- character in the 'flashback' line, if you will. Particularly when that character's line is currently running, and would make much more sense to be in that line, buuut whatever. What is, is.

Size doesn't matter. 'cause at the end of the day, UM's joints will probably be dodgy as heck and he won't be able to handle it.
See what I did there?

He definitely can't deal with a weapon that size right now. It's as big as the RID Magnus' hammer.

Magnus can never deal with anything.
But in all seriousness, the Forge in the show is huge, and I assume Platinum Edition Magnus' hammer will go nicely with the Voyagers and Deluxes. That's the only reason I want this guy. I'll have to wait and see how the other Forge scales, but so far I'm impressed with this one.

Heh. If my plans go through, one of my initial sacrifices would have to be Coca-Cola.
Beyond that, "G1" Ultra Magnus is #1 on my "Please TOMY, reissue this" list, as well as praying that they give us a Masterpiece version before 2014. But Hasbro? This version had me lose faith in them.

BTW, those shoulders are definetely mis-transformed. They should sit lower on the arm. You can see this on pics of the back of the box. The only thing I don't like is the light blue face. I am not sure why they did that.
