I wanna string those b'dazzly little plastic gemstones up and wear 'em around my neck like a robo-pimp, or Hoggle from Labyrinth.

I mean, yeah, I love Prime Abominus in all his translucent goodness, but we never get stuff like this, do we?

What we get here is a bit laughable: right now Hasbro is holding a promotion, if you buy over €30 of TF merchandise, you get...
A GOODIE BAG!

Don't get your hopes up The last one for Age of Extinction had:
- a swimming bag
- a folding frisbee
- a folding drinking bottle
- 2 key chains
All Transformers-themed of course.

I will answer why, because everytime we might, there is a huge backlash. Takara had gorgeous chrome on their figures for years. The takara classics seekers are superior to Hasbro's just because of it. We were clamoring for better deco and Generations Jetfire finally gave us a bunch of gorgeous chrome on bits that we could use to embellish our toy as we wanted (which means we could also display him without his weapons and thus without the chrome). But do the fans rejoice? NO. Instead there is a huge backlash. "Dumb Hasblow, thats not even close to being cartoon accurate, look at how smart takara was at not including chrome".
Another example? Ehobby does a bunch of expensive exclusives geared only at collectors with deep pockets and some are in really interesting and out there decos. Hasbro tries it out with their own exclusive G1 figures in decos that are totally left field homages (Platinum Astrotain and Blitzwing homaging the duacons and victory figures) and it sounds like they commit the biggest fault of the century. "Dumb Hasbo, no one wants these, what were you thinking, this is terrible".
So you could see why Hasbro is not keen on trying things that are too left field and trying to maintain a steady revenue stream y appealing to a younger audience and their parents instead of fans who are so hard to please (though I say they are totally rocking Combiner Wars on all acounts).
I can totally picture having these clear toys on the shelves:
"Dumb Hasbro, NO ONE asked for this"
"Clear plastic Hasbro? BREAKAGE ALERT!"
"Hey Hasbro, why are you making variants to toys which even the originals are worthless?"
"Lamest store exclusive ever! There isnt even any paint"
"No one wants these baby toys anyway"
"This size class should only be for figures who are actually small in scale, why is the Scout class dead?!"
And on and on. And fans are voting with their wallets too, its not just words (as I expect the Titan Devastator critiques to be). The last time Hasbro tried toys EXACTLY like these, it was the Dark Energon exclusives for the Prime line and as Cobotron can attest, the demand was so low that they are still available at deep deep discounts.Hasbro cant waste their time making toys like these.

Yeah...yeah. You're absolutely correct, and it sucks. Though, for what it's worth, I usually like the oddball homage decos. I'd be pretty crazy for the Blitzwing/Astrotrain set if it weren't going to be prohibitively expensive.

Well if you like shiny clear toys, why not get the Dark Energon exclusives for the Prime line.
Also, the EHobby exclusives are always prohibitively expensive. The astrotrain/blitzwing set is going for the same price as their latest exclusive, CW Scourge. But one is Hasbro and the other Takarak, so everyone is screaming blue murder.

I do, and I just might. That's a pretty good price right there.

Everything you listed in your rant, that everyone hates, are some of my favorite things. Translucent plastic is at the top of the list.
So... I'm at peace now. Thanks.

Which is a whole other can of worms. As a translation, "Gregevor" is as valid as "Greejeeber" given English's flexibility in pronunciation, like "ghoti" for "fish".
Sorry, but that's not completely correct. Although English has some flexibility in transcribing Japanese sounds into English orthographically, those sounds must still be recorded by the phonological, or phonetic rules of English.
Thus, [ グリジバー ] can be transcribed as "Greejeeber", "Gooleegeava", " Gureigybuh", "Gurijiba" or other derivatives that show an elongated /i:/ ("ee") sound, a /dz/ ("j") sound.
As "Gregevor", the "silent e" would usually create the pronunciation /griedz/ ("graij"), but the inclusion of /v/ in the second syllable elicits a "hard g", or /g/ sound, followed by a short vowel or /e/.
If we were translating ENGLISH (or foreign words) into Japanese pronunciation, we could be more dismissive of such transference errors (e.g.: " Mineruba" instead of "Minerva", etc), but, until we know the etymology of " Greejeeber", we have to assume it's a "new", made-up Japanese word, and abide by how the Katakana can be transcribed into English, and not the other way round.
Anyway, to be completely honest, he's called "Rollbar" in English, anyway.

OOOOoooooohhhhh..... Impressive work right here. Seibertron need more pro-nerds and having an etymology coinesseur is a great addition to the team!

Should Gregevor be brought to the US, Hasbro really should name him Rollbar, for the sole purpose of preserving the homage. They don't have to however, as there's no consistent list of "counterpart names" (except Convoy for Prime).

JUNE
Transformers Adventure
TAV18 - Drift (RID Warrior - redeco?) - June (2,500yen)
-
TAV19 - Powerglide (GEN Legends redeco?) - June (1,300yen)
TAV20 - Adams (Cosmos) (GEN Legends redeco?) - June (1,300yen)
-
TAVVS03 - Strongarm Vs Snarl? (?????) - June (4,500yen)
The ones in bold are the one I wish to order (if amiami had the prorders up) but I would still like to know what a figure looks like before I order it.

Junkion is NOICE! I would like to have AOE Junkheap too, but the only place to get him is on Ebay and it go for batshit insane prices.

The final figure from AOE is a Power Battler, that's really hard to find! Junkheap has a really fun chest claw gimmick that's unobtrusive and works with the toy. Junkion is the same character only in blue; it's also much easier, and cheaper to find.

I got my hands on a PRID Voyager OP with the idea of using the exhaust pipes for TAV Ultra Magnus. I came to learn that the pipes are not easy to remove like the soft ones on Dark Guard OP. Anyone got some suggestions on how to possibly remove them?
Worse case scenario I forget the whole thing considering UM will be in robot mode most of the time...my thanks in advance.

Also, most places don't have, or won't allow big metal bins and/or portabins/garbage dumpsters, so rubbish is stored on the street, or under nets, which is then ripped apart by cats and crows. Luckily, my area, at least, has modern, Japanese style porta-bins, but there are the old nets right next to them anyway...

Amazing turnaround.
I'm actuslly looking forward to the "Grand Vehicon General" or whatever the name is, love the mould, and will be adding this one to my Vehicon collection. I've got the original Hasbro RID one, Arms Micron Vehicon and Jet Vehicon General. The Botcon pirate Vehicons are on the way, and I just need to track down a standard Jet Vehicon. I'm trying to army build without buying more than one of a particular release

Maybe that's why we need the three bin lorries currently in the transformers?
Posted by prjkt on May 12th, 2015 @ 2:42am CDT
Edit: And the TAV version is the Car Vehicon coloured mould to match the Jet Vehicon General, so the translation might be Ground Vehicon General.

Except that the Vehicon molds are very very evil-looking as they are. No amount of repainting can change their hunched over, sickly, wicked creature look.primalxconvoy wrote:I think the Vehicons should have been repainted into the Autobot clones, rather than the Decepticon versions.

I don't know about yours, but my Vehicons stand straight and tall. I'm sure that a new head and paint scheme would easily create them.
Posted by Sabrblade on May 14th, 2015 @ 9:38am CDT
The head juts out forward at an angle. Removing it reveals the next piece to be diagonally positioned, so no matter how much one straightens out the body, the head will always be hunched over in an ogre-like fashion without having to completely re-engineer the torso.primalxconvoy wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Except that the Vehicon molds are very very evil-looking as they are. Sure, one could just tilt the neck piece upward, but then that messes up the look of the chest by opening up the gap between the neck piece and the main body.
Aside from the issues with the head, though, the entire figure has many evil-looking design aspects all over its body. Jagged lines covering the torso, pointy vampiric fingers, spiked knees, sharp-looking razor wings on the Jet version, etc. etc.
The Vehicon design is very much meant to be an inherently creepy and wicked appearance.

That is freaky-looking and way beyond the extent of any retoolings Fun Pub is allotted to do.

The clones just need a new head and a lick of paint.
