Huh. Looking closer at their names, though "Lunaclub" and "Trickdiamond" are written in Latin script English, the names written for the two in Katakana transliterate into English instead as "Lunaclover" and "Trickdia", respectively.

Guess we'll have to wait and see what the final packaging names them in Latin script, as we could have another "Minerva vs. Minelba" and "Greejeeber vs. Gregevor" on our hands.

Minerva/Minelba and Greejeeber/Gregevor are different ways to romanize the same words. Turning "clover" and "dia" into "club" and "diamond" is veering a little more into translation, as they are incorporating the Japanese names of the card suits and using the English names in the latin rendition. For now, I'm going to assume these are the intended names for English audiences.

Megaempress is the most interesting and unexpected turn for that mold. Honestly thought it was going to be Lyzack.

Not worried about the loss of the chest bike seeing if I go for this set, I doubt I'd showcase them combined.

I quite like how the Helicopter twins have a patch in the other's color, unites them without being as literal as the Hasbro version. Plus the shared name prefix theme is a neat touch.

I stayed up a bit late, and glad I did. Names are a bit Brave series-like though with a common theme throughout, but I like what they're going for. Is there more to the names, I know tricks are used in card games, but the rest...

Flowspade seems to be Shockwave's mole in the 4 guard but became a loyal servant of Megatron's "queen" because of her charisma (kind of like Soundwave who was Ratbat's spy who became Megatron's number one toadie.

Trickdiamond is like the Swindle of this group.

Oh, come on Takara! Are you not satisfied bleeding my wallet with your superior Computron? Now you have to go and one-up Hasbro's Victorion too!

I was never impressed with the Hasbro release and so gave it a pass without ever regretting it, but this... this version is something I need in my life. I swear though, between Combiner Wars and Titans return, this is both the best and worst possible time for me to have gotten back into the Transformers hobby. So much delicious nostalgia to consume, and now brand new awesomeness to match.

If things don't start getting mediocre again soon, I just might accidentally bankrupt myself.

I'll stick with my original Victorion, thank you very much.

Initial thoughts though: the colours clash so much and look so ugly, I'm not sure what people were complaining about with Victorion; they better not do the usual comics thing with an all female team, though I will not be surprised if they do; where is Rust Dust?

Well takara sure has helped us with variety for combiners. Dang. On the one hand I don't like it because I seems forced somehow. On the other hand it is supremely kickass-I-may-get-it.

Also, this is a combiner that I would get for the individuals. I like Mega Empress, the rest I would use as random limbs. Not sold on the whole not.

Well MegaEmpress looks friggin' beautiful, but... the others and the combined mode are a bit... ehhhhhh I really don't like em. The colours clash badly, they're really saturated, it just... it just doesn't look good.
Though kudos to Takara for going all new characters instead of going with Esmeral or whatever.

Nothing is going to save the Victorion molds from looking...questionable. This does a very good job though. It's amazing what a deco that isn't scallop-coral orange and toothpaste teal can do.

Anyway, a breakdown.

Megaempress: Terrible name aside, she looks awesome. Like, I'd buy that on its own without a second thought. Though I may have to call her "Megan Tronne" for laughs.

Lunaclub: The pink actually works pretty well. I like it. Name is terrible, but it works in the card-suit context of the team.

Moonheart: Name is a bit Mary-Sue Original The Character Donut Steel, but the toy is good looking. Nice shade of blue.

Flowspade: "Flow" and "Spade" do not go so well together. Why not "Acespade"? Still, looks good. Possibly one of my favourites.

Trickdiamond: Best name of all the limbs, but probably one of the weaker decos. Still, not bad at all.

Megatronia: Oh hell yes that looks great. Sure it still looks like a retool of Defensor (because it is) but...it works so much better.

Also, the knowledge that Walky and his brigade of numbskulls will probably be throwing a fit about them because SEXISM or something, and feeling the need to compensate by giving them snarky writeups on their sh*tty wiki fills my black heart with glee.

So in conclusion?

MINE.

Interesting colors. Horrible names. Easy skip.

I really like the set but I think the limbs would look much better on grand scourge.

This could have been so much better. Custom playing card decals on each figure, with black, red, silver and other playing card livery on each figure, plus playing card numbers for each. The leader could have been a Jester while the combined mode could have been the "Queen of Hearts"...

As for a female Megs, it just seems like a dialled-in Ghostbusters re-boot style thing.
