Maybe they're saving Fracas and Nightstick for special redecos of PotP Jazz as Stepper, and of PotP Inferno as Artfire?
I'd at least buy Stepper, maybe Artfire too (having the MP really discourages his purchase).

There's a production run error on the face of legends hot rod. I received two different shipments from separate Japanese retailer. 4 of the 6 I received have a flaw on the lower left lip. There are some noticeable bumps on the lip. The one xRotorstormx sent a pic of also has this problem.
Just an fyi to those looking to buy him. You might have to get a few from different sources to get one that doesn't have the flaw.
Images showing off the issue are included below!

Its Herpes. HotRod shouldn't be so eager with the "hot" or the "rodding" it seems.

There are soooooooo many herpes jokes you can make about this, and they're all wonderfully inappropriate.

JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:OK, a bit more on the serious side, is this cosmetic problem due to molding, or an excess of paint?
It is molding. Both of my Titans Return Hot Rods have the same 2 bumps.

I thought about using my Rodimus head from the Chaos set as an alternative head option & he appears to have a paint chip on his upper lip. The color scheme difference also makes him a poor choice for legends Roddy, but if you have the Titans Return version, it could be an option.

Gotta wonder what Takara and Hasbro have planned for Crosshairs, Sureshot, Pointblank, Fangry, Squeezeplay, Terri-Bull, Go Shooter, Minerva, Hosehead, Siren, Nightbeat, Snapdragon, Apeface, and Scorponok (though I have little hope for Grand Maximus and Black Zarak considering no proper recolors have been done of any of the Titan Class figures yet).
yeah while Metrotitan, G2 Dev colors, Grand Max etc... would be awesome, those would definitely brake my wallet... . Of any of them, I would think Gigastorm from Trypticon would be the least likely seeing as how the reason original Trypticon was used as the template was because he scaled well with the rest of the BWII line, and a larger bot to be sure, but not a Titan sized one.

Licensing reasons. They were originally from a rival company to Takara so Takara didn't want those figures advertised in their own series. I don't think those figures even got sold in Japan...
Didn't stop the comics from having them, though. The UK comics. The UK, where these toys were never sold...

That may have been the case for the others, but the Jumpstarters were Diaclone molds. They were the Baku-Ten Attack Robo toys.Kurona wrote:o.supreme wrote:ok, so this may not be the right place, and if someone could redirect me to the correct thread that would be great...but seeing the unused animation models for Topspin & Twintwist, I wonder if there has ever been a published reason why the Jumpstarters, Deluxe Insecticons, Roadbuster & Whirl never appeared in the animated series?

Maybe it was due to the KO copyright issues they were going through at the time? I'm not sure how that would dissuade Hasbro from putting them in the cartoon, but I've gotta imagine there's some sort of connection.

The Deluxe Insecticons, Roadbuster and Whirl and Jetfire for that matter are pretty obvious, as they are not by Takara, but by Takatoku Toys. To Takara, they're local competitor toys, which is also why they were not released as Transformers in Japan to avoid copyright and licensing trouble, not to mention "free advertising" of other people's product in the cartoon. In fact, the toys that would become Roadbuster and Whirl were featured in their own anime called Tokusou Kihei Dorvack. The deluxe Insections were originally from the line Kikou Chuutai Beetras, and probably would have been featured in their own anime as well, had Takatoku Toys not gone under and been bought up by Bandai. Jetfire needs no explaining, right?
To be complete, Shockwave, Omega Supreme and Sky Lynx are special cases as the first was originally from a Korean company and thus exempt via licensing loopholes, while the other two were commissioned though Tomy.
The Jumpstarters are harder to explain, especially since Takara never released them in Transformers at all.

Skyfire's ordeal might have been the catalyst that led to the Deluxe Autobots and Deluxe Insecticons not appearing in the show, as even though Skyfire made it in after having had his look and name changed, the episodes he appeared in were held back until the very end of the series when the show was dubbed and released over in Japan (which in turn enabled the Japanese to use "The Ultimate Doom" as a formal series finale story for the Japanese version).o.supreme wrote:I know about the toy license issues, but there were many characters that were not Takara toys that got represented in the animated series- Jetfire (Skyfire), Omega Supreme, Skylynx, etc...I realize they were not sold as toys in Japan originally, but they did appear in the Marvel/Sunbow animated series, I don't see what would have stopped Marvel/Sunbow on the American side from animating the others. Also I knew about Dorvak for Roadbuster/Whirl. But Skyfire was obviously from Macross...didn't stop them there, they could have altered the characters appearance enough to make it less obvious like with skyfire.

Also I'm getting really confused about the whole Target Master thing. The jumpstarters and the TM gun partners look fine on their own but the combinations don't work at all even just from colour scheme perspective.

Red and black doesn't go with blue and white?

Firebolt, Recoil, Blowpipe, Aimless and Caliburst already come with their original partners, Hot Rod, Kup, Triggerhappy, Misfire and Slugsinger respectively. The rest:
- Haywire (Doublecross): Blurr
- Pinpointer (Windblade): Crosshairs (no release)
- Spoilsport (Twin Twist): Sureshot (no release)
- Peacemaker (Topspin): Pointblank (no release)
And with that, I can finally remember which name goes with which partner! Yet I can't ID the actual toys on first sight. Derp

At the same time, Firebolt and Recoil are revealed to not be Cyberdroids or Nebulans of their own identity, but instead are Shao Shao Li and Sue (Marissa Faireborn's daughter) in Masterforce suits.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:kurthy wrote:Who are the characters those targetmasters are actually supposed to go with?

It remains to be seen what, if any, preexisting female human character Haywire will turn out to be.

Are there any female Battle Beasts we know of?

You could say the same about the Western fiction made for these Targetmasters back in 1987.Kurona wrote:Eh, the accompanying fiction doesn't really matter. It's clear as day to anyone that these are meant to be representations of Firebolt and co., no matter what ridiculous comic made after the fact the toy comes with.

Which was that they were individuals called Firebolt, Recoil and Haywire

... who do not exist in Japanese G1 proper, aside from The Rebirth dub.
