While Studio Series Voyager wave 4 has been available on Hasbro Toy Shop, the toys had yet to reach other retailers. It was, however, found today at Walmart in Canada in the Montreal area. This is the version that comes with the buzz saw weapon. Wave 4 consists of a redeco of Starscream featuring the the cybertronian glyph tattoos. He is repacked with ROTF Megatron. They are priced at $39.97 CAD. This is part of the current restock for the holidays Walmart is undergoing. You can see an image of the dedicated shelfspace below poplated with all four main lines, along with the G1 reissues.

Why would you bother? As far as I can tell, the only difference between Crankcase and Berserker's movie models is the later has a red X on his chest. If you already have a second Berserker for the head, couldn't you just paint over the X and be done with it? Cause Hasbro's SS Crankcase is a joke.

It's because I like SS Crankcase's deco better than just Berserker without an X.

Bonecrusher, Scrapmetal, and Shatter are definite buys for me, all three look great. I already talked about Bonecrusher, Scrapmetal looks really accurate to the concept art and I'm happy he exists, and Shatter's alt mode looks amazing. Rampage is a verrry tentative maybe. The design is growing on me, and I like the red-orange color, but I'd need a new name for him as the name Rampage to me is and always will be belonging to a crab/tank-cannibal man.
Devastator is not something I want, nor something I particularly like, but I'm glad he exists for those that do want him, and I'm glad it means good figures of all these insane Constructicon designs. I'm 100% on board for Hightower and the possible/probable Overload, although I still think a Deluxe Hightower like some people are speculating is too small. I'm also glad Cogman is coming for obvious availability reasons, although I already have the TLK one so I don't need to buy him again.
Now then, on to the real topic I want to talk about: the mysteries of the unrevealed figures. Shatter's reveal has solved the identity of the Deluxe Character B from the Takara listings, so that's taken care of. However, using what we have confirmed with Hasbro's number system, SS-31, SS-34, and SS-38 are all unknown. One of those has to be DotM Megatron, and while he technically could fit in as any of them, I think that he's most likely SS-34 since he was shown with Jetfire and that would seem to insinuate that he's in the same wave as him unless otherwise specified. If he isn't, then he's in a wave with only one new figure in-between releases we already know about (either between Crankcase and Bonecrusher or between Rampage and Cogman). SS-38 could possibly be another Constructicon, as we know there are 4 more that have yet to be officially shown and that one is Hightower, but whichever one it is would have to be a Voyager figure included in the same wave as Rampage, or a Leader in a one-new-figure wave. Other than those possibilities though, these numbers belong to figures we have yet to find out about, from official sources or leaks, and can't be Deluxe sized unless they're exclusives. That's pretty intriguing.

Hasbro does not use "SS-##", they just use numbers. Just saying
Speaking of which, let's run down listed characters that don't have either ID yet:
No TakaraTomy ID
40 Shatter
42 Constructicon Long Haul
No Hasbro ID
SS-27 Megatron
SS-30 Optimus Prime (yes, there's a third one)
No ID at all
Autobot Dino
31, 34 and 38 are open for Hasbro, SS-29, SS-34 and up for TakaraTomy. It all fits.

william-james88 wrote:What about non exclusive drift and hightower?
I also legitimately forgot about the third Optimus because I was annoyed there were three of them according to that leak and I tried to ignore that fact, but I did mention Megatron and Hightower. I don't think it would be the third OP though, that would be two OP releases in successive waves. Retail Drift and Dino I purposefully did not mention though, and I kinda stated why but I guess I'll point it out in more detail. Hasbro's numbering goes in order of both release date AND size class for each figure, with the numbers for exclusives seemingly being designated solely by release date. That's why when Wave 1 came out, all the numbers were in order, as they got released fairly close together and in order of size class. I assume that according to this, the 26-30 Deluxe wave, 31-32 Voyager wave, and assumed 34-35 Leader wave will get released about the same time, especially given their showing-off of Op and Jetfire combining. If 31 is Drift or Dino, then they either have to be part of the 26-29 wave, making it a wave of Deluxes with SIX unique figures, or they have to be an exclusive. We know because of the Amazon listings that Dino and that particular Drift are retail figures, so neither of them can be 31. Same thing with 34, if it isn't DotM Megatron for some reason. For it to be either of them, they would have to be exclusives again, or there would have to be a Deluxe wave in-between the announced 26-29 and 39-41 waves that would only include 1 new figure. We know from the Con panels that Hasbro considers the 26-29 wave to be Wave 1 for SS in 2019 and the 39-41 wave to be Wave 2, so there can't be non-exclusive Deluxes crammed in the middle.
The only possible spot where Dino or Drift could fit is as 38, and if that were the case, they would have to be a part of the Cogman-Shatter-Scrapmetal wave. If they are though, then it would make no sense for them to not have been shown with the rest of the new figures, and it would be a weird outlier compared to every other SS Deluxe wave, as every other Deluxe wave had all it's contents revealed at once.
Therefore, logically, Drift and Dino cannot be 31, 34, or 38, unless one or both of them are exclusives, and we already know that they aren't due to the Amazon leaks that revealed them in the first place. The only exception to this would be if Hasbro decided to treat one wave of Deluxes completely differently to the 5 other Deluxe waves in the line in terms of how they were revealed.

They're literally the same character model, just a few minor pieces and color differences between them.

Are you thinking of Crowbar, who has the longer dreads (and whose toy they are using to make Crankcase, for some reason)?

What really confuses me is, there IS a character who has the same character model as Crowbar, Dreadbot from TLK. That would require some remolding for the vehicle parts, but it would make a heck of a lot more sense than trying to make him Crankcase.

compare the ridges on the sides of it to the ridges on the sides of his feet and you can see the rounded corner on his heels.

We don't usually see that level of cheating outside of jets. Most land vehicles tend to be a little cleaner underneath. It's like they needed to give him a bit of height so they made big feet that couldn't fit underneath properly.

I've taken a look at some images of the vehicle he's based on, the Humber Light Reconnaissance Car, and at least one liberty is taken, with the chassis or suspension sticking out a bit too far underneath. All for the sake of heels I suppose.

Probably Licensing, Movie toys have to pay to look like real vehicles and if its anything like past lines, Paramount gets a slice of the pie too. Although my local Walmarts just rollback'd their Studio figures to 16.85

Movie, RotF, DotM were all level with other contemporary lines, licensed or not. Plus, the Bumblebee Movie toys actually has two licenses for vehicles: the Chevrolet Camaro and the Volkswagen Beetle, both for the titular character. While true that the Studio Series has the most licenses of any line, the price hike started with TLK.
What may be a factor is the desire to make a clearer distinction between "collector-grade" and "regular toy" lines, with the former having a slightly higher price tag.

Speaking of the Bumblebee movie, have we heard anything else about that 2-pack with Volkswagen 'Bee and TLK 'Bee? Never got the TLK one, Volkswagen 'Bee has started popping up in stores in my area and I've been debating if I want to pick him up now or wait for the 2-pack, but I can't find anything about it.

I mean, he's a SuperCobra, which isn't a huge helicopter, but its certainly a lot bigger than a VW Beetle.
Then again, he also turns into a muscle car, which would only be a LITTLE bigger, so maybe they just got the robot modes close enough and didn't really worry about vehicle accuracy.
No idea what the Whirl connection is though, does he also have a toy that turns into a SuperCobra, maybe?
