While Hasbro will be releasing the Titans Return line, it looks like Takara Tomy will be incorporating some of those figures under their continuing Legends banner instead. According to Twitter user gadepon, at least, both Skullcruncher and Hardhead will show up in the line, with some remolding for the headsculpts too! Check out below some fairly small images of the two Headmasters, scanned from a hobby magazine.

Good to know, these will be easier for me to get. And I like the cartoon head-sculpts better.

I can see why they'd change Hard-head at least, since he dropped the faceplate in The Headmasters, but Skullcruncher is fairly toy accurate. And not a million miles off his screen counterpart.

I'd be happy picking up either version of either sculpt to be honest, which means I'm more likely to go for the hasbro versions for the price.

It all comes down to overall decco, but I can't see them doing much different as the show models and toys shared pretty much identical colour layouts in both cases here.

I was kind of interested in seeing what Takara had to offer for chromedome though. Presumably we'll end up getting a show accurate decco with a much less IDW styled head, which I'd be up for.

I prefer the Hasbro heads. I liked my old Hardhead toy a lot and prefer him with a faceplate though the actual heasculpt could be a bit better. Skullcruncher I'm not bothered about as a character but I much prefer the Hasbro head there too (though would look better with the middle of the visor black). The Takara head looks really goofy like a child wearing a grown up's helmet or something.

Well the price will be the same, but the cost of importing will be slightly more, and because I just like the gimmick and dont really care for show accuracy (of a show I never watched), then I will go with what is less costly too :)

Same here, I had not realized Hasbro had these unconnected black shades, its a bit weird.

Also, it makes perfect sense that Takara would release these under Legends. That's their equivalent for the Generations Umbrella which Titans Return also falls into. CW Megatron and Ultra Magnus were also Legends toys afterall. That just made me realize something, the Leader Seeker toys are Hasbro exclusives :-?

I like faceplate heads. I pose my transformers in a lot of different ways, so faceplates avoid the problem of an expression not matching a pose.

Totally agree. It also leaves the figure in a perpetual state of badassness. Like with Prime, Grimlock and Onslaught.

And for me, it makes them more robotic. Faceplates for the win!

I'm usually all for faceplates, but somehow the Hasbro heads just look off...
Depending on when these will be out, I'll probably end up going the Takara route, which may even end up being cheaper anyways

I know why, its the weird eyes they gave Skullcruncher instead of giving him a visor. If he had a full visor, we wouldnt find it odd.

They need the gimmick, it was confirmed they cant transform without it (heads cannot be kept on during transformation). But we dont know if there will even be Takara versions. Think about it, Takara only released 3 of the 6 leader figures we had during Combiner Wars and one of those 3 was an exclusive. Takara has proven that just because Hasbro releases something, its not certain they will release it too, especially if its not something they care about. Its one year later and there is still no such thing as Takara Alpha Bravo. Nor is there Crosscut, Jihaxus and the list goes on.....

Hmm, I like Skullcruncher's new noggin, but I wonder if these are part of the 'additional head series', rumors were that many figures would get 2 versions of their heads for fans to choose from, TT might be choosing the more accurate of the 2 and eschewing the rest :-?

I like 'em, but I won't pay import prices for them, I'll definitely be waiting to find them in the wild >:oP

I would most certainly dig it, even if they just released a multipack of alternate heads for the main head masters.

It's a perk of the gimmick that they could certainly exploit to give fans a mote of extra choice and customisation.

I really hope they're thinking along those lines, if not, they're really missing out on something that they could market really effectively, I think.

:-? Not for being a negative roberta again but I think we are forgetting the fact that Hasbro is releasing the heads with those small vehicles and animals. That makes the titanmaster releases a bit more involved than just different heads since every head needs their own extra toy to interact with. And even if they do release all these extra heads, that would mean that you would end up with a truckload of redeco'd small animals and vehicles since I am certain that Hasbro wont go all out and give distinct individual extra toys to each small head.

Of all the rumours, the one I am most suspucious of is that we will get all these extra heads (along with the one of godbomber).

And remember this people, as we now know, not all the rumours panned out (deluxes being bigger, and coming with animal companions ect).

Fair enough, though, it'd be pretty d|ckish of hasbro to eschew most of the actual headmasters and release them only as heads, so that they can retro-actively make a bunch of other g1 characters into headmasters

I'd say, now that we know that the heads are separate molds, and that TT has these different ones, that this would lend some level of logical credence to that rumor :-?

I never actually said anything about Hasbro doing it, and we are infact in the takara legends thread!

But then again they could quite easily end up mixing and matching on the deluxe heads and titan masters with partners. Similar to how they mixed up torsos and drones with the power core combiners sets.

We have no information at the present time about whether the heads are even actually produced on the same sprues as the rest of the figures at the factory. Though seeing as how they seem to all share plastic colours, that seems like a logical jump a touch too far.

I was never saying 'They will do this,' more 'It would be really cool if they'd at least considered doing this.'

It seems like Hasbro is releasing apeface as just a head, which is insane considering there is a whole class of triplechanging headmasters in their lineup.

Only if by 'the king' you mean Nicholas Cage. I made a Gundam Unicorn joke involving his character from gone in 60 seconds a long time ago, and Memphis Raines just kinda stuck.

Fellow Seibertronian Cyberpath has found a new picture of Transformers Legends LG 19 Springer posted by TF Yuki. It shows him in all his three modes as well as in package, where he is in robot mode. This is Hisashi Yuki's last hurrah to promote the toy before it becomes available at the end of the month.

Below we have also put a photo that was posted in the discussion which shows the different decos available of this toy (Hasbro Generations, Takara Generations and Takara Legends).

It's supposed to be the cartoon colors, but in every pic we've seen, the shades of green are still very off.

Yeah, that's Takara's fatal flaw: applying super cartoon-accurate decos to figures that are not molded to be super cartoon accurate. Putting aside that the animation models were badly colored to begin with, applying those decos to toys that aren't molded similarly often just looks wrong.

Not to mention that colours as they appear to one person can be different to another.

Congenital colour blindness comes in a variety of flavours. I myself suffer from issues with Green/Brown and Red/Orange recognition.

I'll never be allowed to be a Fighter pilot, Demolitions expert, or Electrician.

Or Bomb expert. I can just see it:

"Cut the red wire not the orange one"

"THEY ARE BOTH THE RED WIRE!!!!!!"

Sorry to laugh at your expense. My vision is also impaired enough not to be an astronaut.

Immediate get! But gone are the days when those ugly exposed panels were that...EXPOSED!

The original Hardhead, despite being a thin brick/panel had very solid arms and shins.

He just means the titan master class which would be made up of a bunch heads, some being variations of the heads that come with the bodies. So many, the heads you see on the takara figures might come out individually in the titan master class for hasbro.

Aaahhh, ok. Thanks for that. I knew there were a load of individual heads being sold, but didn't realise there were going to be variations of the main headmaster heads sold amongst them. Hopefully we get a mouth Hardhead in that then. And that does look like a robot mode Hardhead head at the far left of that picture.

Were not sure, its all conjecture. But it makes sense, especially since Hasbro did that with combiner wars and released the stuff Takara made different individually.

No, they released the stuff that they thought about making but that Takara got to first. Lest you forget, Quickslinger and Brake-Neck's heads were conceived by Hasbro and tooled into the molds before Takara's run.

I dont see how this is any different. You are saying that these new heads were not designed by hasbro. DO YOU KNOW THAT?! Because for a fact we know that the "takara exclusive" starscream head in unite warriors (for ghost starscream) was designed by Hasbro, just like 99% of all toys.

So no. We dont know it either one way or another. For all we know, this can be the same scenario where Hasbro made a design and Takara is carrying it out first and Hasbro will release it later. Or never, like was the case with Prime Breakdown who was designed by hasbro too.

Quite the contrary. I said that Hasbro designed the Quickslinger and Brake-Neck heads, but Takara revealed them first, although Hasbro ultimately released QS and BN before Unite Warriors Superion came out. I was countering your assertion that Hasbro released Takara's products. It is conceivable that Hasbro had a hand in Deluxe Groove, especially since he's coming out as Afterburner in Hasbro's Computron set, but I'm all but certain that Blast Off is pure Takara. Last we heard there are no plans to bring Bigroove and Shuttle Blast Off over here, which is the main point I challenge. I'm also skeptical that these Titan Master heads are variations that will see the light of day over here, but I'm willing to be proven wrong on that.

John Warden confirmed at Toy Fair that Hasbro had no involvement in UW Groove or UW Blast Off.
